AMs journal and letters. "The Particulars of & Sketches Taken During a Voyage
to and Journey Over the United States of America and Back: Commencing 24th
September 1810." Original manuscript journal of a tour through the Atlantic States
with over sixty watercolor, pen-and-ink, and pencil drawings of cities, buildings
and scenes, including views of Boston, Charleston, Washington, Norfolk, Va., and
others. A part of the journal is written in the form of letters to his mother,
each of which is signed. Includes impressions of Mount Vernon; a description of
the capitol and the President's house; visits with President Madison and other
statesmen, etc. Glennie sailed from London on Sept. 24, 1810 on the "Thomas
Penrose." 95 pp., bound. Available on microfilm.
