Letter book of outgoing correspondence kept by Gabriel Manuel de Iturbe e
Iraeta between January 2, 1833 and April 23, 1834. The correspondence recorded
in this letter book relates entirely to matters of business, pursued primarily
within the confines of Mexico. As revealed by these letters, the Iturbe
business interests circa 1833 centered around the sale of agricultural products
and materials (corn, lumber, meat, and the like) produced ostensibly on family
lands, as well as the trade in similar goods produced by friends/business
partners. The Iturbe family seems also to have been active to a limited degree
in small industry, specifically in the sale (and possibly production) of
wheels, textiles, etc.
