Abstract

Richard Watson Gilder was a nineteenth century poet and editor. The collection consists of Gilder's letters to Maria Hornor Lansdale, one of Gilder's addresses, photographs, pamphlets, programs, and newspaper clippings.

Scope and Contents

Consists mainly of letters by Gilder to Maria Hornor Lansdale and includes autograph manuscripts of poems written or copied for Lansdale. In addition, there is an address by Gilder, "Literature as an Art for Service," given at Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh, on Founder's Day, November 6, 1902, as well as some photographs, pamphlets, programs, and newspaper clippings.

Arranged in this order: letters to Maria Horton Lansdale, letters to Richard Watson Gilder, manuscripts of Gilder, inscribed pamphlets, materials relating to Gilder's life.
