Abstract
Consists of typescript drafts by Cuban writers collected by American author, translator, and educator Ann Tashi Slater (Princeton Class of 1984) on a trip to Cuba in 1987, with some later additions. Included are drafts of short stories and novels, primarily science fiction, by more than twelve different authors, one audio recording of Cuban writer Reinaldo Arenas, and some letters.

- Scope and Contents
The collection primarily consists of typescript drafts by Cuban writers, collected by American author, translator, and educator Ann Tashi Slater (Princeton Class of 1984) on a trip to Cuba in 1987, with some later additions. Included are drafts of short stories and novels, primarily science fiction, by more than twelve different authors. Four of the manuscripts are of published works, including Mas Alla de Sol (La Habana: Union de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, 1987) by Eduardo Frank and Amoroso Planeta (La Habana, Cuba: Editorial Letras Cubanas, 1983) by Daina Chaviano. Other writers represented include Arnoldo Aguila, Arturo Arango, Froilán Escobar, Luis Manuel Garcia, Chely Lima, Maria Elena Llana, Senel Paz, Roberto Pérez León, Antonio Orlando Rodríguez, and Alberto Serret.
Later additions to the collection include a cassette tape of an interview (1984) by Slater with Reinaldo Arenas, four typed manuscripts of stories (1980-1984) by Abilio Estévez, a photocopy of a typescript of the story "Erotica" (1985) by José Prats Sariol, a letter to Slater by Senel Paz with a printed copy of his story "Vacaciones," and two letters from Reinaldo Arenas to Slater.

Gift of Ann Tashi Slater '84 in 1996 (AM 1996-66), with additions in 2000 (AM 2001-02) and 2018 (AM 2019-30).

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor.
