This an open collection for Rhomaides Brothers photographs of classical sites in Greece (particularly Athens) such as the Olympieion, as well as the National Archaeological Museum.

Collection Creator Biography:

Rhomaïdès frères

Greek photographers Konstantinos (d. 1900) and Aristotelis Rhomaides (d. 1916) were known variously as Rhomaides frères, the Rhomaides Brothers, and the Rhomaidae, although they sometimes signed their work as individuals. They are known for their photographs of classical sites in Greece.

Collection History

Acquisition:

Purchase from Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive, Foto-Antiquariat Fahl, Bernard J. Shapero, and Krul Antiquarian Books in 2005-2010, acquired with matching funds provided by the Program in Hellenic Studies with the support of the Stanley J. Seeger Hellenic fund (AM 2005-97, AM 2006-71, AM 2007-108, AM 2008-81, AM 2010-142). With gift from Program in Hellenic Studies in 2009 (AM 2009-123). Additional materials were added from AM 2013-89, AM 2014-65, and AM 2014-85.
