Correspondence consists of 670 letters sent by Cuban writer Severo Sarduy to various members of the Sarduy Aguilar family, including to his mother, father, and sister, over a thirty-four year period from 1959 until his death in 1993.

Arrangement

Original order was maintained. Correspondence is arranged chronologically.

Sarduy, Severo

Severo Sarduy is one of the best-known Cuban authors of the 20th century. Born in 1937, in the Cuban city of Camagüey, Sarduy lived in Paris from 1960 until his death in 1993. There, he connected with a group of French intellectuals including François Wahl and Roland Barthes. His work encompasses essays, poetry, novels, radio plays, criticism, and painting.

Inventory added by Allyse Terrell '14. Collection was removed from three-ring binders and housed in archival folders while maintaining its arrangement.
