The majority of the Research Files series is composed of offprints and copies of articles written by other scholars. The series also contains manuscripts for articles and reviews, as well as a small amount of correspondence, clippings, statistical charts, and notes. The series covers a broad range of subjects, including basic economic principles and theories, the history of economics, international economics, United States economic policies and conditions, international trade, finance, and post-World War II economic policies.
Arranged numerically by filing group. Within each filing group, materials are arranged alphabetically by subject or author. The filing groups preserve the original order of the papers, which were arranged in several alphabetical groups by Viner, although the purpose for the different groups is not readily apparent. Filing group 3 is not in alphabetical order, but is instead left in the order in which it was received to preserve context. The last group, General, was created by the archivists from material found throughout the collection that was similar to the papers already located in this series.
