Biography and History

John "Judge" Cobb Cooper (1887-1967) was a Princeton University graduate and a pioneer in the field of Aerospace Law. A member of the Class of 1909, Cooper received high level appointments in the government and in the private sector during his career, including a vice president and directorship of Pan-American Airways. He was elected member of the Institute for Advanced Study in 1946, and received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Princeton in 1960. Cooper maintained close ties with Princeton University, serving as Curator of Class Records and as an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Graduate Council.
