Biography and History

Born in Santiago, Chile, in 1929, Enrique Lihn was a popular poet and novelist. His published works include Poesía de paso (1966), La orquesta de cristal (1976), and Derechos de autor (1981). Lihn received several awards and honors in his lifetime, such as the 1966 Casa de las Américas prize for poetry for Poesía de paso, the Pedro de Oña prize and a municipal prize for La misiquilla de las pobres esferas, and fellowships from UNESCO and Guggenheim. Lihn died in Santiago in 1988.
