William Horne and Ernest Hemingway were lifelong friends. Horne met Hemingway while a volunteer ambulance driver for the American Red Cross during World War I. They were stationed in Schio, Italy, and drove together on the same ambulance. After Hemingway's failed engagement to Agnes von Kurowsky, they shared an apartment in Chicago during the fall of 1920. When Hemingway married Hadley Richardson in September 1921, Horne was in the wedding party. When the writer died in 1961, Horne was an honorary pallbearer. The Stella Bloch Papers Relating to Ananda K. Coomaraswamy consists of manuscripts, correspondence, drawings, photographs, printed material, and postcards of the American dance critic, art historian, and artist Stella Bloch (1898-1999). This collection documents the relationship between Bloch and the Anglo-Indian art historian, philosopher, and author Ananda K. Coomaraswamy (1877-1947) who embodied the roles of mentor, husband, and friend. The papers primarily contain correspondence by Coomaraswamy to Bloch, as well as a small amount of other letters. Writing was a vital form of communication for Coomaraswamy and Bloch, especially during their marriage, since they always resided in different cities; he lived in Boston while she lived in New York. There are also drawings by Coomaraswamy and by Bloch, as well as photographs-some taken by Coomaraswamy-that include portraits and assorted images from their travels to India and Southeast Asia. The articles in both manuscript and printed form provide a sampling of Coomaraswamy and Bloch's writings on art, religion, and philosophy. Furthermore, there is a small selection of printed material about Coomaraswamy and Bloch, and a series of memento postcards.

The primary subject of the unbound drawings is Coomaraswamy and Bloch, while that of the sketchbooks is indigenous people and dancers of Bali and Java. Also included in the Bali sketchbook are two drawings of Coomaraswamy, one of him wearing a typical Balinese hat, and two prints of a Balinese dancer, one hand-colored [see also Box 8, Folder 1].

The Officer Files series is largely composed of the papers of George Beebe (chairman, executive director, and director of projects), Executive Director Dana R. Bullen, and European Representative Ronald Koven. Beebe's files include correspondence, articles, and conference materials predominantly related to UNESCO and WPFC projects, as well as the administration of the WPFC. Bullen's papers include copies of his statements and materials he collected to write his book Voices of Freedom: The Story of the World Press Freedom Committee (2002). Also includes a copy of photograph of Gibran, his bedroom as a child in Lebanon, and a copy of a photograph of Gibran's bedroom which was transported from his New York City Studio apartment to the Museum in Bsharri, Lebanon. Consists of correspondence, photographs, and emphera sent to Ina Tillman from her friend Sergei Alekseyev in the Soviet Union (Siberia). Tillman and Alekseyev were pen pals, and, as Esperantists, they used Esperanto to communicate with each other. The collection spans 1915 to 1987, with a bulk of the collection being their correspondence from 1964 to 1970.
