The Zelda Fitzgerald Papers consists of manuscripts, correspondence, miscellaneous notes and related material, documents, pictures, clippings, and photographs of American author Zelda Fitzgerald.

This collection contains over 1,800 items including mugs, pipes, canes, banners, hatbands, pins, jewelry, and other material collected by many individuals that document reunions, sporting events, student traditions, and other aspects of University life.

Since 1950, the Princeton University Library has been successful in acquiring additional manuscripts and related materials to complement the F. Scott Fitzgerald Papers (C0187). The F. Scott Fitzgerald Additional Papers (C0188) is comprised of Fitzgerald manuscripts (including his published juvenilia), letters, documents, photographs, tape recordings, memorabilia, and other materials donated by the author's family, friends, and publishers.

In addition to the office's subject files, the collection includes the records of faculty meetings, faculty and University committees, and the personnel files of faculty, senior staff, and trustees.

This collection documents the life and activities of Sylvia Beach (1887-1962), the American author, publisher, and owner of the Paris bookshop Shakespeare & Company, the Paris bookshop that was a meeting-point for French, English, Irish and American writers during the 1920's and 1930's. The collection consists largely of files relating to Shakespeare & Company; Beach's writings and translations, in particular her memoir Shakespeare & Company ; and files relating to the circle of artists and writers surrounding her throughout her life. Included are family, personal, and business correspondence; business records of Shakespeare & Company; personal and family records; manuscripts and artwork by members of her circle; photographs; and memorabilia.

John Doar (1921-2014) was a lawyer who worked for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice (1960-1967) and was chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee investigating the Watergate scandal (1973-1974). He also served as president of the New York City Board of Education (1968-1969) and as president of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Development and Services Corporation (1967-1973). The collection primarily documents Doar's tenure with the Civil Rights Division in the form of court records, investigation files, correspondence, and notes, though materials from Doar's time on the Watergate impeachment inquiry committee and on the Board of Education are also present. To a lesser extent, the collection is composed of records from Doar's work for the Bedford-Stuyvesant Corporation and his private law practice.

Consists of the personal papers of Philadelphia author, businessman, and philanthropist Harrison S. Morris.

Kostas Zēmerēs was born in 1886 in Katēchōri Pelion. He studied at the Commercial School of Volos, where he took his first lessons from the painter Iōannēs Poulakas. In 1904 he went to the United States where he worked in photo labs collaborating with painters and photographers. There he had the opportunity to study at the Art Institute of Saint Louis. He returned to Greece in 1912 where he was recruited during the Balkan Wars. Later, after the World War I, he remained in Athens working with great photographers, such as George Bouka and Nelly's. Finally he returned to Volos where he worked as a professional photographer and painter. He participated in many exhibitions in Greece and abroad, such as in Calais (France) in 1925 and Liverpoool (England) in 1926. He received the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Thessalonikē (Greece) in 1932 and 1936. Zēmerēs gave us the unique photographs of the painter Theophilos Chatzēmichaēl. He died at the age of 96. Consists of an open collection of silver prints depicting Greek landscapes by Kōstas Zēmerēs.

The Early Photographs of Greece Collection is an open collection for general photographs of sites and subjects in Greece. Included are panoramic photographs of the Parthenon, Athens, and Smyrna, along with other photographs of Greece.

Consists of over 3000 miscellaneous items of primarily American literary, historical, and political figures, including business and personal letters, manuscripts, drawings, photographs, and official documents.

The Fevzi Çakmak Diaries consists of diaries, a notebook, and a calendar of the Turkish military leader and government official Fevzi Çakmak.

Consists of quarterly status reports and technical reports created by the Plastics Laboratory at Princeton University from 1946 to 1954. The Laboratory which was established in 1946 conducted basic research involving problems of a fundamental nature as well as towards the development of plastics and materials with specific properties.

The reports in this collection describe research in the field of sound propagation and acoustic signal detection. In the early years of the research, the project was knows as the Underwater Sound Transmission Project. The research was funded by the Office of Naval Research Contract N6onr-270, Task Order V.

The collection consists of American consulting engineer and newspaper columnist, Howard W. Ambruster's works, correspondence, miscellaneous material, and printed matter.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is the pre-eminent civil liberties organization in the United States, utilizing litigation, lobbying, and public education to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. These records document the administration and work of the ACLU's national office, regional offices, and legal projects, with particular emphasis on the areas of civil rights, children and women's rights, freedom of speech (and all First Amendment questions), and due process, among many others. The records include case files, correspondence, meeting minutes, research files, and files of staff members. Portions of the records (Subgroup 1; Subgroup 2, Series 2, 3, and 4; Subgroup 3, Subseries 5B) have been digitized and are available for members of the Princeton community to view here. Edward Anthony was a noted writer and publisher in the twentieth century, known primarily for his light verse. His papers include several manuscripts, including an autobiography co-authored with Clyde Beatty about circus animal training and a collection of poems. A few miscellaneous papers, such as letters and a date book from 1928 complete the collection.

This collection consists of American historian William M. Armstrong's works and research material on Edwin Lawrence Godkin (1831-1902), a founder and editor of The Nation (1865-1881) and editor of the New York Evening Post (1883-1900). The collection contains typed manuscripts of Armstrong's biography on Godkin along with other writings, as well as photocopies, microfilms, and typescripts of correspondence.

Consists of technical reports created by the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at Princeton University from 1947 to 1998.

Shakespearean scholar Gerald Eades Bentley was a professor of English at Princeton University (1945-1970) and assistant librarian for Special Collections (1971-1973). His papers consists of notes, typescripts, and galleys for three published works, The Jacobean and Caroline Stage (1941-1968), The Profession of Dramatist in Shakespeare's Time, 1590-1642 (1971), and The Profession of Player in Shakespeare's Time, 1590-1642 (1984), as well as various speeches, articles, and correspondence about his works.

Consists of correspondence, manuscripts, and ephemera by and relating to John Steinbeck collected by Preston Beyer, cofounder of the John Steinbeck Society of America. Included is a large amount of correspondence (circa 1939-1993) of Beyer with bibliographers, critics, collectors, biographers, universities, friends, and relatives concerned with the life and works of John Steinbeck.

Consists of the original manuscripts (both holograph and typed) of Main Line: A Philadelphia Novel by American author, Livingston Biddle (Princeton Class of 1940).

Consists of copies of fundamental legal instruments of government (1664-1961) under which people have lived in New Jersey for the last 300 years, gathered by historian, Julian P. Boyd, for the book Fundamental Laws and Constitutions of New Jersey (1964), which he edited.

David F. Bradford (1939-2005) was a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton University and served on the faculty from 1966 to 2005. His main areas of study were public finance and urban problems, and he was internationally known as an expert on taxation. Bradford's papers document his academic career and include correspondence files and conference files, as well as papers related to his research with Harry H. Kelejian, his appointment books, and biographical materials from his years as a student.

Consists of thirteen notebooks compiled by American biographer Allison Williams Bunkley while in South America doing research for his book The Life of Sarmiento (1952).

This collection contains playbills from Greece.

The "Literary Landmarks of Princeton" Exhibition Collection consists of author files and miscellaneous materials related to the "Literary Landmarks of Princeton" exhibition curated by Alfred L. Bush in 1967. The exhibition chronicled works of fiction, drama, and poetry written in Princeton by over 100 authors from the early 18th century to the mid-1960s.

The Butler Family Papers consists of works, notes, correspondence, journals, photographs, and other materials of Benjamin Franklin Butler (1795-1858), William Allen Butler (1825-1902), Mary Russell Marshall Butler (1827-1919), Charles Henry Butler (1859-1940), Harriet Allen Butler (1861-1914), and other members of the Butler family.

Bernardo Canal Jeijóo was a lawyer and poet in Argentina during the twentieth century. His correspondence consists of letters with other writers and artists about both the arts and everyday life.

Consists of papers of journalist Levering Cartwright (Princeton University Class of 1926) relating to the association of "Death Valley Scotty" (Walter Scott, 1872-1954), an eccentric prospector, Wild West show entertainer, and hoaxer, with his friend and financier, Albert M. Johnson, an insurance company executive.

Consists of an open collection for Maria Chrousakē photographs of several places in Greece and Cyprus mostly Byzantine churches and monasteries and archaeological sites.

The U.S.S. Princeton [C.V.L.-23] Collection, located in the University Archives, contains research materials for the book, Carrier Down, by Marcia Clark in which the history of the U.S.S. Princeton is chronicled.

Consists of notebooks and notes taken by George R. Collins during his years as an undergraduate and graduate student at Princeton (Classes of 1939, 1942) in the fields of art and architecture.

Consists of selected manuscripts, correspondence, documents, portraits, and other items created by or about United States President James Madison (Class of 1771) and Dolley Madison, collected by Jasper E. Crane (Class of 1901).

Alfred S. Dashiell was an American writer and editor. His papers relate primarily to his time as editor of Scribner's and Reader's Digest. Letters, memorabilia, and incomplete manuscripts of Thomas Wolfe appear, along with letters from other authors, assorted correspondence, and papers dealing with the Princeton matters of Terrace Club, Graduate Council, Hibben Fund, and Class of 1923 reunions.

Clinton A. Decker traveled to Russia as part of the American Advisory Commission to Russia of Railway Experts (1917) and later became a member of the Inter-Allied Technical Board (1919-1922). The collection contains personal and business correspondence and photographs documenting Decker's travels in Russia, China, and Japan.

Consists of photographs of Middle East scenes collected by Bayard Dodge, president of the American University in Beirut, Lebanon.

Mary Mapes Dodge was an author and editor of St. Nicholas magazine. This collection contains manuscripts, correspondence, financial records, and photographs of Mary Mapes Dodge, as well as an unfinished biography of her by Spencer Mapes.

The Sara Enright Papers consists of papers relating to Enright's role as theatrical agent to performers, many of whom were and are well-known, as well as to aspiring actors and actresses. The collection includes legal contracts (originals and carbons), correspondence of Enright, miscellaneous material containing commission receipts, and playbills.

Consists primarily of original artwork created by Charles E. Fehon, Princeton Class of 1950, during the process of designing sets and costumes for Princeton theater groups including Theatre Intime, University Players, and the Triangle Club.

These pamphlets were collected by the Princeton University Library starting from the outbreak of World War I. The collection contains pamphlets published in Europe during and immediately after World War I. They cover a broad range of topics including the economy, the press, the military, arms, territorial disputes, and others. The collection also includes speeches, sermons, bulletins, calendars, and songbooks.

Consists of correspondence and manuscripts of Iranian scholar/author Qāsim Ghanī, including material relating to his proposed biography of Kamal ol Molk.

Brewster Ghiselin was an English professor, literary critic, editor, and poet. The collection contains some of Ghiselin's works and correspondence. Typescripts, proofs, galleys, Italian translations, phonograph records, a few books, and notes represent his works, while the correspondence consists of letters from his literary friends and colleagues.

The Green Family Collection consists of correspondence, documents, and printed matter of the Green family of Trenton and Mercer County, New Jersey, including Henry Woodhull Green (Princeton Class of 1820), his parents, Elizabeth and Caleb Green, his brother, John Cleve Green, and his son, Charles Ewing Green.

Consists of selected manuscripts and documents of Sparse Grey Hackle, an American author of books about angling.

Consists chiefly of selected letters of J. J. Hayes sent to Emily Hale related to the Irish theater in the first quarter of the twentieth century.

George McLean Harper was a writer and educator in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The collection consists of papers and manuscripts concerning two of Harper's books William Wordsworth, His Life, Works, and Influence (1916) and Wordsworth's French Daughter (1921). There are also papers relating to Harper's poems, stories, articles and speeches, as well as some correspondence.

The Calvin S. Hathaway Collection consists of correspondence (especially with Florence C. Quinby), photographs, postcards, offprints, slides, and newspaper clippings of American Curator Calvin S. Hathaway (Princeton Class of 1930) relating to his collection on equestrian statues of the world.

Consists primarily of correspondence between American novelist Ernest Hemingway and his friend Milford J. Baker.

Consists primarily of a few writings and field notes of American geologist Harry Hammond Hess (1906-1969).

Consists of correspondence in French between Léon-François Hoffmann and Haitian poet René Depestre, including handwritten letters, faxes, and several other documents. William Horne and Ernest Hemingway were lifelong friends. Horne met Hemingway while a volunteer ambulance driver for the American Red Cross during World War I. They were stationed in Schio, Italy, and drove together on the same ambulance. After Hemingway's failed engagement to Agnes von Kurowsky, they shared an apartment in Chicago during the fall of 1920. When Hemingway married Hadley Richardson in September 1921, Horne was in the wedding party. When the writer died in 1961, Horne was an honorary pallbearer. Contains eight Horne-Hemingway items: a copy of a photograph of Frances Horne [Bunny] and Hemingway in Wyoming in 1928; an autograph signed letter by Ernest Hemingway (with postcript by wife Pauline) to "Dearest Bunny and Horney" [Frances and William Horne], dated 9 September [1929], 2 pp., with envelope; an autograph signed letter by Hemingway to "Dear 'Orny" [Horne], dated 1 June [1930], 2 pp., with 5 pp. of fishing gear advertisements with holograph annotations, with envelope; a typed letter (copy) (dictated to Pauline by Hemingway) to "Dear Horny," dated 23 November [1930], on hospital X-ray form; a typed letter (copy) (dictated to Pauline by Hemingway) to "Dear Horney," dated 26 December [1930], 1 p.; autograph signed letter by Hemingway to "Dear Horney" [William Horne], dated 25 March [1931], 1 p., with envelope; a color copy of a telegram sent by Mary and Ernest Hemingway to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dodge Horne on the occasion of their wedding, 17 September 1955; and a compact disc recording of "Memories of Ernest Hemingway by William Dodge Horne, Jr., whose grandson, William C. This collection consists of letters to H. Wright Johnson (Princeton Class of 1948) regarding Harley Granville-Barker, the subject of Johnson's senior thesis at Princeton. Included is Johnson's thesis, typescripts and correspondence concerning The Prevalence of Witches and Weekending, and correspondence between Johnson and George Bernard Shaw who worked closely with Granville-Barker in the English theater.

Consists of three scrapbooks of publicity photographs--compiled by C. A. George Newmann and collected by Carl W. Jones--of some 19th- but mainly 20th-century mentalists, magicians, ventriloquists, and illusionists.

Mavis Kalmar was an English stage actress. Her collection consists of correspondence (1917-1946), two diaries (undated), two sketchbooks, and photographs.

The Philosophy Manuscripts of Walter Kaufmann consists of manuscripts, galleys, and page proofs of many of the writings and translations of the American philosopher, educator, and author Walter Kaufmann (1921-1980).

Peter B. Kenen is a well-known economist, prolific writer, and Walker Professor of Economics and International Finance, Emeritus, at Princeton University. These records document Kenen's research and teaching work.

Consists of the papers of song-writer, playwright, and poet Clare Beecher Kummer. Included are manuscript plays, musical compositions, songs, verse, and correspondence.

Consists of selected papers of Moses A. Lane, a nineteenth-century career serviceman in the U.S. Navy, serving most of his time as a gunner. Much of the material relates to a tour (1852-1855) in the Mediterranean aboard the sloop of war St. Louis.

The Reginald Lawrence Papers consists primarily of typescripts of plays Lawrence (Princeton Class of 1921) wrote for theater, film, and television, as well as short stories, poetry, outlines and notes for various projects, some letters, photographs, and newspaper clippings.

Charles A. Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh were a famous twentieth-century aviation couple. The papers consist of manuscripts of Charles's A Letter to Americans and Anne's The Wave of the Future, A Confession of Faith, with related correspondence.

The Helen MacInnes Papers contain the original manuscripts of twenty-two published novels, miscellaneous articles and speeches, and a play of renown Scottish novelist Helen MacInnes.

Consists chiefly of letters by Alfred Thayer Mahan to his publisher regarding his writings about United States naval history. Mahan was a U.S. naval officer in the Civil War, and his work on the importance of adequate navies and merchant marines influenced the policies and philosophies of national leaders across the globe, including those of the 26th president of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt.

Consists of material by and about Philip Wylie collected by Arthur and Sylvia Mandy during the course of their friendship with the American writer.

Consists of letters and other material related to Sylvia Beach (1887-1962), the American proprietress of the Paris bookshop Shakespeare and Company, collected by Jackson Mathews (1907?-1978).

Consists of correspondence and manuscripts related to the anthology Democracy at the Crossroads (1932), arranged by Ellis Meredith, a suffragist and journalist from Colorado.

Helmut Meyer was a German-born American citizen who fought for the United States in World War II and founded the Helmut Meyer Literary Agency in New York City. The collection contains files from the Helmut Meyer Literary Agency, propaganda from both the Allies and the Axis from World War II, manuscripts of Meyer's own work, and correspondence from friends and clients.

Consists of research material of American educator and historian Harold Ruland relating to his study of Sebastian Munster (1489-1552) and the history of cosmography and early cartography.

Thomas Burnside Morris graduated from New York University in 1861 with a degree in civil engineering. He was a chief engineer of the Long Island Railroad, 1863; a division chief of the Panama Railroad, 1864-1865; a division chief of the Union Pacific Railroad, 1867-1869; and a division chief of the Northern Pacific Railroad, 1870-1874. He died in Oakland, California, on November 8, 1885. The collection consists primarily of material relating to Morris's role in the construction of the Union Pacific Railroad and the Northern Pacific Railroad.

The Felice and Mildred Morris Autograph Collection consists of letters from numerous 19th- and early 20th-century actors, actresses, playwrights, and others associated with the theater, collected by the Morrises. Included are James Matthew Barrie, Edwin Booth, Dion Boucicault, Frances Hodgson Burnett, Wilkie Collins, Charlotte Cushman, Clyde Fitch, Charles Dana Gibson, Laurence Hutton, Louis Napoleon Parker, Adelina Patti, William Seymour, Otis Skinner, and Kate Wiggin.

Consists of typescripts and related material for American author Lloyd R. Morris's Not So Long Ago (1949) and William James (1950).

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was created by Executive Order on May 6, 1935. The goal of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) was to establish and maintain projects benefiting the public good in order to create work for citizens who were unemployed and on relief. The New Jersey Works Progress Administration Records document the history of the New Jersey Historical Records Survey, the Agricultural Administration Act, and the Indian Site Survey of New Jersey through forms, reports, photographs, and correspondence.

Consists of selected papers of English poet Derek Patmore.

D. Hugh Peniston graduated from Princeton University in 1941. This collection includes his course notes and coursework along with his letters home during his undergraduate years.

Consists of documents representing at least three generations of the Pierson family of Orange, New Jersey, including Isaac Pierson (1770-1833, Princeton Class of 1789), a physician, his son William (1796-1882, Princeton Class of 1816), a physician and first mayor of Orange, and William's sons Edward (d. 1882, Princeton Class of 1854), a lawyer, and William, Jr. (1830-1900), also a physician.

This collection consists of personal and professional papers of Adamantia Pollis, professor of political science on the Graduate Faculty of Political and Social Science of the New School for Social Research in New York. Included are drafts of various articles, papers of her students, personal memorabilia and papers, grant proposals, and correspondence.

The PAW is successor to the Alumni Princetonian, a weekly publication of the Daily Princetonian. In 1919 the Princeton Printing Company dissolved and printing of the PAW was taken over by the Princeton University Press. The PAW was a weekly magazine during the school year until changing to its current bi-weekly format in 1977. The magazine is now published during the academic year for alumni and professional staff of the University.

The Department of Classics at Princeton University offers courses, both in English and in the original languages, that treat the whole range of ancient culture, from its mythology to its philosophy, law, and literature. Consists of the records of the Department of Classics from the late 19th and early 20th century.

The Department of Psychology dates from 1893, but was not officially established as an independent department until 1920. This collection includes group portraits and portraits of deparment faculty as well as some photos of individuals and locations that may not be Princeton-related.

The records consist of the academic files of former graduate students of Princeton University. The information contained in each file varies greatly but can include grades cards, Graduate School applications, a photograph of the student, letters of recommendation, as well as biographical information, lists of achievements, news clippings, and obituaries. The dissertations represent doctoral work in over forty graduate departments. They date from 1877 to the present and they are arranged chronologically.

Graduate work in a formal sense emerged at Princeton in the 1870s when President James McCosh added new faculty and graduate fellowships. This collection consists of theses submitted toward the fulfillment of requirements for master's degrees at Princeton University.

This collection consists of offprints of articles written by Princeton alumni and faculty; however, in some instances the articles are written about an individual alumni or faculty member. The offprints generally consist of journals, published articles, speeches, lectures, sermons, memorials, and articles from scientific journals and magazines.

Consists of miscellaneous screenplays and related materials, such as continuity, superimposed versions (i.e. script translations), release dialogue scripts, and revisions/drafts. There are also a few information packets--these include interviews with and/or biographies of stars, synopses, and various and sundry other materials meant for release.

The Performing Arts Serials Collection consists of serial printed material concerning the performing arts, including circus, dance, film, opera, radio, speech, television, theater, and vaudeville. For the most part, publications are represented by a sample or two issues.

The Dance Subject Files consist of dance-related subject files from early 20th century through 1980s. Among the material are clippings, photos, programs, promotional materials, and dance school brochures.
