The collection consists of editorial correspondence and some business material of the American publisher.

The Bayard Family Papers, dating from 1801 to 1915, document Ann Caroline Bayard (1797-1871) and her politically active family who lived and worked in the mid-Atlantic area. Her father, James Ashton Bayard (1767-1815); two brothers, Richard Henry Bayard (1796-1868) and James Asheton Bayard (1799-1880); and nephew, Thomas Francis Bayard (1828-1898) served in the United States Senate and their acquaintances appear to have been involved in the family's social circles, of which Ann Caroline Bayard was an active and important part. This collection consists of correspondence to Ann Caroline Bayard and other family members, legal records, photographs, and genealogical information regarding the Bayard family.

Consists of two distinct groups of papers of author Robert Bernard Martin: material relating to his scholarly research and writings on the English novelist and clergyman Charles Kingsley and manuscripts of eight of Martin's published novels and works of non-fiction.

The John Watson Dalby and George James De Wilde Collection consists of correspondence between John Watson Dalby (b. 1799) and George James De Wilde (1804-1871) covering the years 1826-1871. Both were poets and literary men, as well as friends of Leigh Hunt, whom their letters frequently concern. Dalby's letters often include verses of his poetry, excerpts of Leigh Hunt's works, and discussions on other contemporary authors. Dalby's published work includes Poems (London, 1822) and Tales, Songs, and Sonnets (London, 1866).

Consists of an open collection containing miscellaneous source material related to Modern Greek studies, including letters, documents, artwork, and other unbound manuscript items.

Consists of 76 cards of mounted photographs of drawings and paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, his wife Elizabeth Eleanor Siddall, and a few other members of the Pre-Raphaelite circle. The group seems to have been put together by or for Henry Virtue Tebbs, lawyer and patron of the arts: he was a close friend and admirer of Rossetti.

Consists of writings, correspondence, and other personal papers of Caroline Newton (1893-1975), an American translator, writer, psychoanalyst, and collector, including a group of family papers related to the Churchill and Jerome families. The majority of the materials relate to Thomas Mann, of whom Newton was a close friend and supporter, though some others pertain to her activities related to psychoanalysis as well as book and manuscript collecting.

Consists of selected papers of members of the Paterson family of New Jersey, chiefly those of William Paterson (Princeton Class of 1763), his father, Richard Paterson, his son, William Bell Paterson (Princeton Class of 1801), and twin grandsons, William and Stephen Van Rensselaer Paterson (Princeton Class of 1835). The collections provides 17th, 18th, and 19th-century source material for the history of the College of New Jersey and of the Colonial and post-Colonial history of the State of New Jersey.

Consists of papers of George B. McClellan (Princeton Class of 1886), reflecting his varied career as New York congressman, mayor of New York City, Princeton professor, and author, as well as some papers of McClellan's father, General George Brinton McClellan (1826-1885).

Consists of selected papers reflecting the many aeronautical activities and interests of industrial magnate Harold F. McCormick (Princeton Class of 1895) and papers which he collected concerning the history of aviation.

This collection, which consists primarily of correspondence but also includes diaries, official and legal documents, ephemera, and photographs, largely relates to Samuel Comfort (1837-1923), a U.S. Civil War veteran, diplomat, inventor, and foreign representative for the Standard Oil Company in Europe and India. Documentation of Comfort's Civil War experience is particularly robust. To a lesser extent, the collection documents the family of Comfort's daughter Emma Walraven Comfort (1869-1954) and her husband, Harry Maule Crookshank (1948-1914), a distinguished physician who served as British Controller-General of the Daira Sanieh Administration in Egypt from 1897 to 1907. British Conservative politician Harry Frederick Comfort Crookshank (1893-1961) as well as several other members of the Comfort family, particularly Samuel's father, George Comfort (1808 -1887), are also represented.

Consists primarily of United States Army officer George E. Albee's correspondence along with other papers, including a diary documenting his service with the 41st Infantry Regiment during the Indian Wars of 1869, which earned him the Medal of Honor. Some research files on Albee and his antiquean arms collection are also included.

A collection of 74 letters and documents, 1862-1866, concerning the efforts of the French to establish and maintain an empire in Mexico under the rule of the Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian (1832-1867). Almost all the letters were sent to General Achille François Bazaine.

James P. Walker was an American publisher, author, and co-founder of Walker, Wise, and Co. (circa 1860). His papers contain sermons, autobiographical notes, a diary, commonplace books, photographs, a scrapbook, memorabilia, and printed matter, with the bulk of the material comprised of personal and professional correspondence, much of it covering the period of the Civil War.

Arthur Mendel was a prominent music scholar in the twentieth century and a professor at Princeton University. The collection contains correspondence with professional colleagues, course notes, musical notes, scrapbooks, and clippings. There is also additional unprocessed material from Mendel's time at Princeton.

William Harlowe Briggs was a playwright and editor at Harper & Brothers during the early part of the twentieth century. His papers include 24 scripts from Briggs's plays, family correspondence, playbills, lectures, and diaries from Briggs's mother and father.

Consists of correspondence and miscellaneous material relating to the Welsh translator, novelist, and storywriter Arthur Machen (1863-1947) that was collected by the American businessman and author William Francis Gekle.

The José Bianco Papers consists of notes and correspondence of the Argentine editor, author, and translator José Bianco, as well as a small selection of writings by others and audio recordings of Cuban poets José Lezama Lima and Nicolás Guillén reading their poetry.

Elias Boudinot was a lawyer and Revolutionary statesman, serving as member of the Continental Congress (president, 1782), secretary of foreign affairs (1783-84), New Jersey congressman (1789-95), and director of the U.S. Mint (1795-1805). The collection consists of miscellaneous letters and documents of Boudinot, many of which concern his land dealings.

Consists primarily of letters and autograph copies of parts of manuscripts of 19th-century English and American poets and novelists collected by American art critic and Princeton professor, Frank Jewett Mather (1868-1953).
