Anne Martindell Papers, 1898-2008 (mostly 1968-1990)
Anne Martindell was one of the first three women to serve in the New Jersey State Senate. After her four-year term ended in 1977, she served as director of the Office for Foreign Disaster Assistance, and was ambassador to New Zealand and Western Samoa for a two-year term. The papers document her career in politics and civil service, and also contain her unpublished memoirs and personal papers.
Series 4: Subject Files, 1923-2008
The Subject Files series is primarily composed of documents relating to Martindell's personal activities and is arranged alphabetically. Included are materials detailing Martindell's education, from high school to a course taken at Princeton University in 1999, as well as correspondence and Freedom of Information Act requests regarding Federal Bureau of Investigation documents pertaining to Martindell, and a draft of a New Jersey legislature resolution regarding impeachment of Richard Nixon. There is also a scrapbook from a trip taken by Martindell in 1923. Materials include school records, correspondence, clippings, and notebooks.

Clippings and Printed Materials, 1899-2019
Consists of newspaper and magazine clippings, photocopies of articles, printed materials, ephemera, and scrapbooks that McCarthy kept as source material for his work, as well as to track the reception of his activities and those of other Irish poets in the press. While similar materials that McCarthy interfiled with his poetry drafts can be found in the Writings file group, materials described here consist of those that were not already filed or readily associated with a specific writing project. Many of the clippings McCarthy kept pertain to Irish history, government, culture, and literature. There are some magazines in which McCarthy's writings appeared, translations of his works, and writings by others about McCarthy and other topics, including some materials he may have used for teaching purposes. Of note are a small number of photographs depicting McCarthy, including with family and friends, largely from the 1980s through the 2000s.

Albert O. Hirschman (1915- ) was a leading scholar in the field of economic development whose work focused on Latin America but encompassed the globe. He was a professor at Yale, Columbia, Harvard, and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. Hirschman's papers document his scholarship on economic development and his academic career and include his correspondence written while he was at the Institute for Advanced Study, his writings, and his research notes and materials, especially related to his work in Latin America and for the World Bank.

The collection consists of Peter Bien's original incoming correspondence with writers, scholars, and friends (circa 1958-2016), including Thomas Hart Benton, Kimon Friar, Nikos Kazantzakis, C. Day Lewis, Yannis Ritsos, and C. P. Snow, along with along with his working files on the Greek novelist Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957), comprising nine binders of photocopied letters of Kazantzakis (1902-1939) that Bien collected from other libraries and private collections. There are also nine photocopied Kazantzakis's own notebooks; Bien's notebooks (general and miscellaneous) containing clippings and other materials that relate to Kazantzakis's works and career; notebooks containing Bien's reading notes from secondary and primary materials or both; small notebooks with material he read. John Doar (1921-2014) was a lawyer who worked for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice (1960-1967) and was chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee investigating the Watergate scandal (1973-1974). He also served as president of the New York City Board of Education (1968-1969) and as president of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Development and Services Corporation (1967-1973). The collection primarily documents Doar's tenure with the Civil Rights Division in the form of court records, investigation files, correspondence, and notes, though materials from Doar's time on the Watergate impeachment inquiry committee and on the Board of Education are also present. To a lesser extent, the collection is composed of records from Doar's work for the Bedford-Stuyvesant Corporation and his private law practice.

The Máire Mhac an tSaoi Family Papers contains original manuscripts, working drafts, notebooks, corrected proofs, personal and professional correspondence, and photographs of Máire Mhac an tSaoi (1922-2021). Also included are materials created by or relating to members of her family.
Photographs, 1910s-2008
Many of the photographs were used in Máire Mhac an tSaoi's memoir, The Same Age as the State (O'Brien Press, Dublin, 2003). Also includes an album of photographs of Mhac an tSaoi as a young child, with her parents, siblings and maternal family (circa 1922-1930s). There are also several photographs of Mhac an tSaoi during her time in Paris, directly after World War II, and of her first diplomatic posting at the Irish Embassy in Madrid, several of which show her being presented to General Franco. Others feature her husband Conor Cruise O'Brien.
Correspondence, 1930s-2008
This series includes letters sent by Máire to her husband Conor Cruise O'Brien, and to her parents during her time living in France and Spain and later with O'Brien in Ghana and in the United States. There are approximately 100 letters received from others including fellow writers and poets. Also includes correspondence from Seamus Heaney, who agreed to launch her autobiography in 2003. The Dr. Letitia Fairfield letters demonstrate the close relationship between the MacEntee family and Dr. Fairfield. She met Margaret MacEntee during a visit to Dublin in the early 1920s and following a return visit in 1928 the relationship between her and the family became closer. The correspondence between Dr. Fairfield and Seán MacEntee include discussions on international politics and offer insight into the realities of the effects of World War II on her life in London, and, from MacEntee's point of view, when Ireland had remained neutral. Also includes two songs sung in Irish, adaptations of a poem by Máire Mhac an tSaoi "Oíche Nollag" [Christmas Eve], singers unidentified, circa 1995.

Rodolfo Alonso is an Argentine poet, translator, essayist, and editor. The collection includes Alonso's correspondence with various Latin American writers including Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Raúl Gustavo Aguirre, Juan Gelman, Augusto Roa Bastos, Juan José Saer, Ernesto Sábato, Lêdo Ivo, Hector Tizón, Edgar Bayley, António Ramos Rosa, Milton de Lima Sousa, and Claudio Magris. The Biographical series contains materials regarding Baker's career and life and includes articles, interviews and oral histories, his diaries, awards and appointments, family correspondence, photographs, and weekly schedules for his retirement years. The articles include papers written by and about Baker regarding his life, as well as materials collected by A. Michael Noll on three CDs. The earlier diaries include references to his research at Bell Labs, while diaries beginning in the 1950s are predominantly concerned with his daily life. The awards and appointments materials include awards certificates, correspondence about accepted the awards and congratulations, his acceptance speeches, programs, and articles. Most awards are from academic and professional organizations or corporations for his contributions to science, from government agencies for his service, and honorary degrees from universities. Clinton A. Decker Papers, 1917-2008 (mostly 1917-1922)
Clinton A. Decker traveled to Russia as part of the American Advisory Commission to Russia of Railway Experts (1917) and later became a member of the Inter-Allied Technical Board (1919-1922). The collection contains personal and business correspondence and photographs documenting Decker's travels in Russia, China, and Japan.

Publication files comprise the majority of the collection and include correspondence, legal and financial documents, and editorial and production files related to specific authors and publications. While most of these materials are filed by author name and/or publication title, there are also some general files of manuscripts described as "rejected," "unsolicited," or "dead." Production files include photographs and illustrations, jacket covers, correspondence related to permissions, and other design-related materials.
Weidenfeld & Nicolson Records, 1917-2012 (mostly 1960-2005)
Consists of the publishing and administrative records of Weidenfeld & Nicolson, a British publishing company founded by George Weidenfeld (1919-2016) and Nigel Nicolson (1917-2004), which specialized in literary fiction and nonfiction, with an emphasis on history, biographies and memoirs, books by world leaders and political figures, glossy illustrated books, travel guides, and reference books. The collection documents the operations of the firm from its establishment in 1948 through its sale in 1991, and also includes some later records from as recent as 2012 related to its continued operation as an imprint of the Orion Publishing Group.
