The Princeton Hidden Minority Council (PHMC) is a student organization at Princeton University dedicated to supporting and advocating for students who are the first in their families to attend college or are from low income circumstances (FLI). The Princeton Hidden Minority Council Records document the development of the organization as well as its programs and campaigns.

Alan Krueger (1960-) is an economist who served as Chairman of the Council on Economic Advisers from November 2011 to August 2013. The collection documents Krueger's tenure as Chairman of the Council, containing his memoranda to Barack Obama, speeches, subject files, and photographs.

The Sikhs of Princeton, a student organization established at Princeton University in the fall of 2009, exists to create a space on the University's campus that provides resources for Sikh students to express their faith as well as to spread awareness of Sikhism to the Princeton community. The Sikhs of Princeton Records consist of outreach materials as well as photographs and videos of events sponsored by Sikhs of Princeton. The collection also contains some records related to the student group Princeton Bhangra, which practices and performs bhangra, a South Asian folk dance.

Drew Arena spent the majority of his career as a Justice Department lawyer. These papers document his work with the Three Mile Island nuclear accident investigation, his work with the European Union, the prosecution of drug cartels, and his later work with Verizon.

Paul A. Volcker (1927-) is an economist who has served in several prominent positions in the federal government, most notably as undersecretary of the Treasury (1969-1974), chairman of the Federal Reserve (1979-1987), and chairman of President Obama's Economic Recovery Advisory Board (2009-2011). The collection contains Volcker's subject files, mainly created during his term as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and incoming and outgoing correspondence from his tenure as chairman of the Federal Reserve. The collection also includes documentation of some of Volcker's specific duties in these two roles, such as records from the meetings of the Federal Reserve's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).

Peter M. Page (1919-1943) joined the US Naval Air Corps after graduating from Princeton University's Class of 1941 and lost his life as a Marine Corps pilot in the aftermath of the Guadalcanal campaign on January 14, 1943. The collection contains correspondence from Peter Page to his fiancée Ann Pearman (neé Aiguier) from several bases during his pilot training and subsequent military service.

Tom Reed, a 1971 alumnus with a Master's degree in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School, is an administrator in the New York City Department of Health as well as a graphic designer and illustrator who has published several instructional works and children's books. The collection consists of computer graphics and illustrations created by Reed of Princeton-related subjects such as James Madison and Albert Einstein, as well as artwork for Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni reunions.

Robert B. Klausner (1926-2016) was a political activist who supported Bill Bradley's bid for president in 2000. The collection consists of Robert B. Klausner's records related to the overall finances of Bill Bradley's 2000 presidential campaign and fundraising events and strategies in California.

The Bureau of Alumni Records was established in January 1949 as an outgrowth of the records office maintained by the Graduate Council, the governing body of the Princeton University Alumni Association. The collection consists of public files of former graduate students of Princeton University.

Critical Legal Studies was both a scholarly enterprise and a social movement within legal education, questioning the justice of law for people outside of existing power structures. The Critical Legal Studies Records represent the beginning of a Princeton University Library initiative to collect material such as correspondence, memos, newsletters, meeting programs, posters, and other materials that document the movement.

Consists of a closed collection of more than 5,000 Western Americana photographs, consisting mostly of documentary photographs of the Trans-Mississippi West from the late 1860s to early 1900s, largely from the perspective of white photographers and settlers. Subjects include American Indians (especially studio portraits), natural wonders, cities, towns, buildings, and economic activities (mining, railroads, logging, and agriculture). Some photographs relate to the Indigenous populations of Mexico and Central America. The dimensions, physical formats, and photographic processes of the photographs vary widely.

The Organizational Matters series documents the administration of the ACLU National Office and their interactions with the regional offices, affiliates, outside organizations, and the general public. The records include committee meeting minutes and mailings, staff files, and department records. The majority of the records are the files of Executive Director Ira Glasser and the records of the Legal Department.

Louise Dorothee (Dollie) Dyte Chareau (1880-1967) was the wife of the architect Pierre Chareau (1883-1950), who is best known for the Maison de Verre, which was built from 1927 to 1932 in Paris. This collection consists mainly of correspondence between Harold Rubinstein (1891-1975) and Dollie Chareau, and between Michael Rubenstein (1920-2001) and Pierre Chareau scholars, including Marc Vellay, Margaret Antalopoulos, and Margaret Tallet.

This collection includes images and videos from Ballet Folklórico de Princeton performances from 2006‐2013.

This collection contains a compilation of material relating to student activism and the student publication the Progressive Review. The collection highlights the student body's campus and international awareness and documents the left-of-center perspective held by the Progressive Review and numerous students.

Consists primarily of professional correspondence of literary scholar, author, and novelist Ralph Freedman (1920-2016).

This collection comprises correspondence, postcards, and ephemera related to the Collège de 'Pataphysique, collected by Guy Warzawski, a Polish-Belgian professor. The Collège de 'Pataphysique was founded in Paris in 1948 and is dedicated to the furtherment of pataphysics, a parodistic "science of imaginary solutions" invented by French symbolist writer Alfred Jarry.

William Byler was Executive Director of the Association on American Indian Affairs (AAIA) from 1962 to 1980. After leaving AAIA, Byler continued advocating for the Native American community, first at Gerard, Byler and Associates and later at William Byler Associates. Byler's papers document his work on behalf of the Native American community after leaving AAIA. The papers include legal memoranda, draft and final agreements between Native American communities and companies or government agencies, and court documents, as well as topical files of related legislation and reports on the issues.

This collection consists of the papers of photography historian, professor, author, and curator Peter C. Bunnell, spanning his student and professional career from the 1950s to 2018. Materials include subject files, correspondence, photographs, publications and drafts of publications, among other items.

The Subject Files series contains articles, reports, court documents, and other materials collected by the ACLU during the course of their work. The main subjects are drugs, homelessness, and Supreme Court nominations, especially of Robert Bork.

The collection consists of typewritten and handwritten letters and postcards (circa 1965-1985) from Jorge Amado to Alvaro and Elisa Salema. Also included are typewritten letters from Zélia Amado to Alvaro and Elisa Salema.

The Printed and Audiovisual Materials series contains the published works of the ACLU, including publications, audio recordings, and videos. These include educational materials published by the ACLU, newsletters, press releases, and public appearances and interviews with ACLU staff.

Consists of 90 photograph collage boards, 30,000 photographic negatives, 760 color slides, and several hundred loose photographic prints, comprising Romus Broadway's body of work documenting the history of the Black community in the Witherspoon-Jackson neighborhood of Princeton, New Jersey, from the late 1950s through the early 2000s.

William E. Colby, Princeton University Class of 1940, was a career agent in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Director of Central Intelligence from 1973-1976. However, the bulk of the collection documents his post-CIA career and contains correspondence, speeches, writings, newspaper clippings, and subject files that reflect Colby's professional and private interests.

Consists of 47 postcards from Irish author Samuel Beckett (1906-1989) to American book editor and publisher William Targ (1907-1999).

Consists of records of the Siamese Banana Press assembled by its publisher, Johnny Stanton, which document the role of the press in the history of poetry, underground comics, and mimeograph publishing in New York City in the 1970s, as well as Joe Brainard's work as a book artist.

Harrison Freeman Matthews Sr. (1899-1986) was a U.S. diplomat and career ambassador. This collection consists of correspondence, a draft of his memoirs, photographs, clippings, films and miscellaneous papers. It includes correspondence with Elizabeth Luke Matthews and a diary she kept during a visit to her husband in Vichy, France in 1940-42.

Consists of photographs, manuscripts, diaries, and ephemera relating to Edward H. Phillips (1868-1944), his wife Marie Kempton Phillips (1881-1946), and their daughter Jean Sarah Phillips (1908–1985) that document ranch life in and around Montana around the turn of the 20th century as well as Ed Phillips' involvement in Wild West shows, including Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, and his career as a Hollywood actor.

The Alumni Association of Princeton University organized the conference ¡Adelante Tigres! Celebrating Latino Alumni at Princeton University in the spring of 2017. The conference brought more than 750 alumni and guests to campus to reflect on and engage with not only the memories of Latino alumni but also the current experiences of Latino students at Princeton. The ¡Adelante Tigres! Collection consists of photographs and other records that Princeton alumni created and maintained during their time as Princeton students. Documented in the collection are a range of student activities, including cultural performances (dance and music), activism, reunions, and graduation. These materials were collected as part of the conference of the same name organized by the Alumni Association.

In January 1969, Princeton's trustees voted to make the undergraduate college coeducational, breaking the 224-year tradition of an all-male student body. The Patterson Committee, made up of faculty and administrators, had studied and advocated the change. The one dissenting voice on the committee was Arthur J. Horton '42, the university's director of development; he wrote a minority report and became a rallying point for those opposing the move. Horton's collection of materials on coeducation contains his annotated copy of the committee's report, his memoranda to the committee's chair and university administrators, official university releases and letters to alumni, and newspaper clippings regarding the change and campus issues in general. A quarter of the collection is letters from alumni, some welcoming coeducation but most strongly opposed.

Marsha Rosenthal is a member of the Princeton Class of 1976. The Marsha Rosenthal Course Materials and Student Activism Materials collection documents her student life experience during her time as an undergraduate at Princeton. The collection reflects both her academic interests at the University as well as her organizational involvement.

Consists of an open collection of letters and memorabilia of American war correspondent, journalist, and novelist Martha Gellhorn (1908-1998), assembled from various sources. Contents include approximately fifty letters (1968-1974) to her adopted son George "Sandy" Gellhorn and fourteen letters (1941-1946) to George Brown, who was Gellhorn and Ernest Hemingway's personal trainer, tennis partner, and friend, as well as badges from Gellhorn's time as a war correspondent and a portrait drawing of her.

The Committee on the Education of Women at Princeton Records contain the working papers and correspondence of Gardner Patterson, Committee Chair, and his assistants. In June 1967 the Board of Trustees charged the Committee with the study of "the advisability and feasibility" of enlarging the University's role in the education of women. The final report, "The Education of Women at Princeton," was submitted to the Trustees in July 1968. Adopting the recommendation of the Committee, they voted in favor of coeducation the following January and appointed an Ad-Hoc Committee to advise on how to implement their decision. The collection contains some papers Patterson received as a member of this Ad-Hoc Committee, and drafts of its final report, "The Education of Undergraduate Women at Princeton: An Examination of Coordinate Versus Coeducational Patterns."

Consists of sound recordings, a transcription, and editorial notes documenting an interview of American writer James Baldwin conducted by Alex Haley (1921-1992) and Jim Goode (James A. Goode, d. 1992) in late 1967 and early 1968 for Playboy but never published in the magazine. The interview is conversational and wide-ranging, with Baldwin responding to questions about his personal and artistic life, as well as about larger social issues surrounding racism, sexuality, politics, economics, and activism.

The Historical Photograph Collection: Digital Photographs Series consists of digital images of Princeton University-related subjects. These may include digital facsimiles of physical photographs or born-digital images.

Consists of Merchant's manuscript drafts, correspondence, photographs, inscribed books, and other materials relating to the Greek poet Helenē Vakalo (1921-2001), and his English translation of Genealogia. The collection also contains writings by Giannēs Ritsos, Kimon Friar, and materials of other authors and publishers.

Consists of seven typed letters by Gabriel García Marquez and five typed letters by Rogelio García Lupo.

Organized competitive athletics appeared on the Princeton campus in the 1850s and 1860s through the formation of intramural and intercollegiate athletics clubs which evolved over the ensuing century into the modern collegiate athletic system. The collection consists of scrapbooks and sets of clippings about sports and athletes at Princeton.

Eleanor L. Dulles (1895-1996) was an economic specialist for the U.S. State Department from 1942 to 1962. She was most prominently known for her work in rebuilding West Berlin from 1952 to 1960. Dulles's papers document her political writings after her retirement from the State Department in 1962, as well as her fundraising work with the John Foster Dulles Memorial Fund, and include drafts of her articles and books, topical files, and some correspondence.

Consists of librarian Charles Haynes McMullen's data cards (numbering about 10,000) that McMullen compiled for his publication American Libraries before 1876 (2000).

Harlan Cleveland (1918-2008) was a public administrator, ambassador to NATO, and a political scientist. He served in several positions related to the administration of economic aid programs during the 1940s, as an assistant secretary in the State Department and as U.S. ambassador to NATO during the 1960s, and also held positions at three universities and the Aspen Institute. Cleveland's papers document his government service and his work at the Aspen Institute, and include his speech and writings files, as well as correspondence and photographs.

Consists of copies of court documents, correspondence, and clippings of Hank Adams, an Assinboine-Sioux Indian, who worked for the National Indian Youth Council and the National Congress of American Indians, and as national director (1968- ) of the Survival of American Indians Association (SAIA).

Princeton Inn was conceived of by a group of University alumni and trustees in 1914 who recognized the need for a hotel to comfortably house the families of students and other visitors in close proximity to campus. Consists of the minute books of the Princeton Inn and a sample form book.

John Foster Dulles (1888-1959), was a graduate of the Princeton Class of 1908 who served as Secretary of State of the United States for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The John Foster Dulles Collection consists of a small group of materials documenting Dulles' connection to Princeton, including materials on his undergraduate career and the Dulles Library.

Louis Jefferson (1927-2006) served as John Foster Dulles's personal security guard for five years until Dulles's death in 1959. The collection is composed of scrapbooks created by Jefferson documenting his travels with Dulles.

Jonathan Belcher, was a merchant and colonial governor of the Provinces of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New Jersey and was instrumental in the founding of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton). The Jonathan Belcher Collection consists of collected research materials regarding Jonathan Belcher's relation to the history of Princeton University and consist of correspondence, articles, clippings, and copies of original materials from Belcher collections held at Princeton and elsewhere.

The Walter Johnson Papers on Adlai E. Stevenson contain Johnson's records as co-chairman of the National Committee for Stevenson for President 1952, more popularly known as the Draft Stevenson Committee at the Democratic Convention. Johnson used these records to later write his book, How We Drafted Adlai Stevenson.

Allen Macy Dulles, son of Clover Todd and Allen Welsh Dulles, was a student of history and politics with plans for a career in public service until he sustained a serious injury in the Korean War. The collection consists of correspondence between family members prior to and following Allen Macy Dulles' injury as a Marine lieutenant in the Korean War.

Alan Windsor Richards was a freelance photographer known for the images he captured of people and events associated with Princeton University from the mid-1940s through the late 1960s. The collection consists of photographic negatives and a very few photographic prints of images captured by Richards of Princeton University athletes and sports events.

William Chapin Seitz (1914-1974) was an art historian, painter, and museum curator who received the first PhD in modern art from Princeton University in 1955. The collection consists of ten notebooks Seitz kept for his early courses on ancient art and architecture in Princeton University's Department of Art and Archaeology in 1949 and 1950.

Open, growing collection of photographs of Greece by Greek photographer Dēmētrēs A. Charisiadēs.

Consists of correspondence, photographs, newspapers, and ephemera belonging to missile researcher Warren Alfred Stark that document his time in the United States Army at the White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico during the Korean War and the early years of the Cold War. The majority of the collection consists of correspondence between Warren Stark and Jean Anne Baldwin Stark (1928-1999), his girlfriend and later wife, and other family members and close friends.

The University Research Board, which consists of six faculty members from different departments, is an advisory committee to the president on all research conducted at Princeton University. The collection consists of University Research Board meeting minutes, annual reports, correspondence between members, and some subject files, as well as the memos and correspondence of Raymond J. Woodrow, executive officer and secretary of the Committee on Project Research and Invention, predecessor to the University Research Board.

Consists of photograph albums, diaries, engagement calendars, and documents of George Black Stewart (Princeton Class of 1906) who was treasurer (1906-1950) of the American University of Beirut.

Brooke R. Stoddard, Class of 2005 is a member of the University Press Club (UPC), who wrote a senior thesis about the history of the UPC in 2005. The collection contains correspondence and interviews with Princeton UPC alumni that Stoddard used for his research, as well as copies of clippings and printed materials.

The Association of Hiroshima University for Sending Atomic-bombed Roof Tiles distributes the tiles in an effort to perpetuate awareness of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and to oppose the use and proliferation of nuclear weapons. The collection includes seven atomic-bombed roof tiles; photographs of the location where the roof tiles were recovered; booklets and pamphlets on the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; and information and correspondence from Hiroshima University.

Consists of nearly 300 letters from Simone de Beauvoir to Violette Leduc documenting their literary friendship spanning four decades, along with 23 notebooks containing manuscript drafts of Leduc's autobiography, La Bâtarde (1964).

Francis Catlin was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1947. The collection contains materials distributed at the 1947 Bicentennial Convocation celebrating Princeton University's 200th anniversary.

George Hafstad was a plant pathologist and a field technician with the U.S. Rubber Development Corporation in Brazil from 1943 to 1945. The George E. Hafstad Papers include a diary, several technician reports, and a folder of photographs from Hafstad's time as a field technician with the U.S. Rubber Development Corporation Amazon Division.

The Works Progress Administration (WPA) was created by Executive Order on May 6, 1935. The goal of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) was to establish and maintain projects benefiting the public good in order to create work for citizens who were unemployed and on relief. The New Jersey Works Progress Administration Records document the history of the New Jersey Historical Records Survey, the Agricultural Administration Act, and the Indian Site Survey of New Jersey through forms, reports, photographs, and correspondence.

Consists of manuscripts of the three radio plays in, and the introduction to, The Free Company Presents . . . (1941), compiled by James Boyd.

The collection includes correspondence to and from Mexican author Elena Garro and Chilean American critic and scholar Gabriela Mora, a handwritten testament by Elena Garro, and photographs of Gabriela Mora, Elena Garro, and Garro's family, friends, and colleagues. Also includes audio recorded interviews of Elena Garro conducted by Gabriela Mora in 1974 and 1979.

Jeffrey Fuller (1917-1970) worked for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) from 1948 to 1966 and also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Fuller's papers document his service in the U.S. military and his work for the ACLU and include his personal and professional correspondence, memoranda, and diaries.

Hadley Cantril was a psychologist who studied propaganda and public opinion research. The collection includes bound Hadley Cantril Diaries, poll results and reports on Polls During World War II, correspondence, and other reports.

The records consist of the academic files of former graduate students of Princeton University. The information contained in each file varies greatly but can include grades cards, Graduate School applications, a photograph of the student, letters of recommendation, as well as biographical information, lists of achievements, news clippings, and obituaries.

Consists of a late draft of Paradise (1937), a novel by American author Esther Forbes.

Lawrence Rauch was a Princeton University graduate student (Ph.D. Mathematics, 1949) and a pioneer in the field of radio telemetry. The bulk of the collection consists of letters written home by Rauch during his time as a graduate student at Princeton from 1941 to 1949, which document Princeton academics and student life as well as Rauch's work in radio telemetry, and include references to his defense work for the United States government.

Consists of miscellaneous single-item acquisitions that span multiple collecting areas, topics, genres, and time periods.

William Horne and Ernest Hemingway were lifelong friends. Horne met Hemingway while a volunteer ambulance driver for the American Red Cross during World War I. They were stationed in Schio, Italy, and drove together on the same ambulance. After Hemingway's failed engagement to Agnes von Kurowsky, they shared an apartment in Chicago during the fall of 1920. When Hemingway married Hadley Richardson in September 1921, Horne was in the wedding party. When the writer died in 1961, Horne was an honorary pallbearer. Contains eight Horne-Hemingway items: a copy of a photograph of Frances Horne [Bunny] and Hemingway in Wyoming in 1928; an autograph signed letter by Ernest Hemingway (with postcript by wife Pauline) to "Dearest Bunny and Horney" [Frances and William Horne], dated 9 September [1929], 2 pp., with envelope; an autograph signed letter by Hemingway to "Dear 'Orny" [Horne], dated 1 June [1930], 2 pp., with 5 pp. of fishing gear advertisements with holograph annotations, with envelope; a typed letter (copy) (dictated to Pauline by Hemingway) to "Dear Horny," dated 23 November [1930], on hospital X-ray form; a typed letter (copy) (dictated to Pauline by Hemingway) to "Dear Horney," dated 26 December [1930], 1 p.; autograph signed letter by Hemingway to "Dear Horney" [William Horne], dated 25 March [1931], 1 p., with envelope; a color copy of a telegram sent by Mary and Ernest Hemingway to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Dodge Horne on the occasion of their wedding, 17 September 1955; and a compact disc recording of "Memories of Ernest Hemingway by William Dodge Horne, Jr., whose grandson, William C. Harpur Allen Gosnell was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1912 who went on to become an engineer and a member of the Naval Reserve. The Harpur Allen Gosnell Papers consist of various documents pertaining to Gosnell's ultimately unsuccessful efforts to initiate a Princeton University chapter of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps between 1927 and 1930. Also in the papers are several items of a more personal nature relating to Gosnell's childhood.

Consists primarily of an unpublished manuscript, dating from 1917 to 1919, along with clippings and a few original photographs documenting the experiences of Percival William Petch (1886-1940), a British army officer who was stationed along the Macedonian Front during World War I.

Consists of material Matthew L. Davis (1773-1850) kept while researching his Memoirs of Aaron Burr (New York: Harpers & Bros., 1837).

Includes pamphlets, leaflets, brochures, and annual reports published in the United States and Great Britain, and printed ephemera including advertising cards, forms and letters issued by birth control clinics in the United States and Great Britain.

Consists of correspondence files of Harold Loeb (Princeton Class of 1913), one of the founding editors of Broom, An International Magazine of the Arts.

Among Princeton University traditions, the Beer Jacket worn by graduating seniors stands as one of the most unique and most enduring. The collection consists of materials documenting the evolution of beer jacket designs throughout the greater part of the 20th century.

Consists primarily of correspondence, photograph albums, lantern slides, printed material, sermon drafts, and film reels documenting the years DuBois S. Morris (Class of 1893) spent as a Presbyterian missionary in Eastern China during the late 1800s through the 1920s.

Consists of a group of family photographs, ephemera, and other papers belonging to the Flores and Viramontes families, two interconnected Mexican American families living in southwest Texas and New Mexico in the 20th century.

Consists of a small group of papers of J. Paul Baldeagle (Princeton University Class of 1923), a South Dakota-born Sioux, who was a schoolteacher for 35 years at William MacFarland High School in Bordentown, New Jersey, as well as a Native American rights activist.

Albert Mathias Friend, Jr. (Princeton Class of 1915), was an officer and a scholar. Friend served in World War I and then did his graduate studies in art and architecture in Europe, studying and salvaging the great works of art and architecture that may have been damaged by the fighting. He then worked with Harvard's Dumbarton Oaks Research Library before becoming a professor at Princeton University. The collection contains notes and course materials from Friend's time as a student and as a professor, correspondence, and some of his research materials, photographs, and negatives, focusing on medieval art and architecture in Greece, Rome, and other Mediterranean cultures.

Consists of seventy letters sent by Charles Edward Kloeber to author Margaret Emerson Bailey from different countries where Kloeber was working as a correspondent for the Associated Press of America.

Clinton A. Decker traveled to Russia as part of the American Advisory Commission to Russia of Railway Experts (1917) and later became a member of the Inter-Allied Technical Board (1919-1922). The collection contains personal and business correspondence and photographs documenting Decker's travels in Russia, China, and Japan.

Consists of World War I memorabilia, letters, photographs, and documents collected by R. Ridgely Lytle (Princeton Class of 1913) when he was a delegate in the province of Luxembourg for the Commission for Relief in Belgium and, later, a member of the American ambulance drivers in France.

This collection consists of over 400 letters from French writer, philosopher, and feminist theorist Simone de Beauvoir to her mother, Françoise de Beauvoir, and sister, Hélène de Beauvoir (also referred to as Henriette), dating from October 1918 to December 1968.

Consists of a group of family papers documenting Henry Robert Taylor's role in a California gold prospecting company called Cunningham & Co. from 1849 to 1851, his travels in South America from 1852 to 1857, his survey work in the Nebraska Territory in 1858 and 1859, and his family's efforts to publish his travel journals in the early 20th century.
