Thessalonikē Everyday Life

Consists of (90) black-and white lantern slides showing views of the city of Thessalonikē, a sea shore, the White Tower, panoramic views of the city after the fire, and Saint Sophia church. Included also are slides depicting scenes of daily life, such as rural people in front of a fountain, a Greek farm, woman at the loom, local women spinning cotton, peasants in the fileds, a priest standing in front of an altar, people going to a wedding, grinding wheat in a manual millstone, agricultural workers, livestock workers, group of Greek kids outside of their houses or in the fields, family portraits, man in Greek ethnic costume (foustanella), a Greek funeral; interiors of churches; a Turkish family; a Rumanian person on a horse; and stork nests on houses and trees. The majority of the lantern slides bear handwritten numbers: 1-21, 23-28, 30, 34-36, 38-39, 44-45, 47-57, 59-63, 65-83, 85-87, 89-91; the rest are unnumbered. Some of them bear handwritten titles in pen on top of the image.

Consists of correspondence with art gallery "Nees Morphes" in Athens (1), with Panagiotis Binioris (one outgoing letter), with the Galerie Internationale, New York (1), and the Intercommunity Council, Morningside Heights, Inc., NY (1). Included also is a handwritten letter from Posnakoff to Iōannēs Chatzopoulos with a text (14 pages) and a sketch in Greek kept in an envelope with another sketch on it (dated 6/3/1997).

Consists of a collection of (440) black-and white photographs (six photograph albums and a few loose photographs) of Iōannēs Despotopoulos, a Greek architect, with several family members, friends and colleagues in Athens, Chios, Mytilēnē, Delphi and other places in Greece; Constantinople and Prince island in Turkey; Berlin, Leipzig, and Munich in Germany; buildings in Romania; street scenes in Bulgaria; and Paris. They are mounted and bear handwritten captions in Greek either on the negative or the mount (measure from 1.5 x 3.5 cm to 13 x 18.2 cm.).

Consists of (1) photograph album (13 x 19 cm) containing black-and-white portrait and group photographs of Despotopoulos with family members and friends in Chios, Mytilene, Athens (Greece), Constantinople (Pole), and Prince island. All photographs bear handwritten captions and dates on the negative. Photographs are attached on both sides of the leaves, one to four per page.

Andritsos; a letter from the imprisoned at that time Iōannēs D. Mourelos, editor of the newspaper "Nea Ephemeris" in Ērakleion; Timotheos, the metropolitan of Rethymno; Ai. G. Kartalēs (?); Markos Mantakas; Nikos Kitsikēs; a letter from the physician Iosēph Betouras to Dēmētrios Gounarēs; the Minister of Transportation; the prefect of Ērakleion; the Mayor of Chania, Crete; and the newspaper "Nea Ereuna, Ephēmeris Politikē."

Samuel Woodfill Correspondence, 1914-1915

Consists of 64 pictorial postcards written by Samuel Woodfill, mostly addressed to Lorena "Blossom" Wiltshire. Written during Woodfill's time serving in the U. S. Army, the postcards feature images of San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston, Laredo, and Mexico and its inhabitants. Woodfill writes of camp life, daily activities, weather, training, and conflicts on the Texas-Mexican border.
