Sommers (1881-1972), primarily documenting his work as a highway engineer in Alaska in the late 1920s, as well as some materials related to his personal life and career as a civil engineer and businessman involved in construction. Of note is a photograph album documenting a tour of Alaska made in 1928 by Sommers with Governor George A. Parks and Major Malcolm Elliott.

Series 6 Finding Aid: American Civil Liberties Union Records: Audiovisual Materials Series, circa 1920-1995.

The American Civil Liberties Union Records document the activities of the Union in protecting individual rights from 1920 through 1995. The files contain materials on freedom of speech, expression, and association; due process of law; equality before the law; legal case files; and organizational records. Within these categories files reflect subject areas such as academic freedom, censorship, racial discrimination, aliens' rights, privacy concerns, labor concerns, amnesty, and government loyalty and security. The files reflect work on litigation, advocacy and public policy, and subject files on various areas of interest connected with civil liberties. Materials include correspondence, court documents, memoranda, printed matter, minutes, reports, briefs, and legal files. Also included are materials from ACLU affiliate organizations, and the Lawyers Constitutional Defense Committee. Subgroup 2, Series 2, 3, and 4 have been digitized and are available for members of the Princeton community to view here. Roland S. (Sletor) Morris was a leader of the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania and was the ambassador to Japan from 1917-1921. The Roland S. Morris Papers consist of correspondence, diaries, writings, and other materials that document Morris's family life, political involvement in the Democratic Party, and his position as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 1917-1921.

The Grounds and Buildings Series of the Historical Photograph Collection contains photographs of the grounds and buildings owned by Princeton University. The photographs date from the late 1850s to the present, with the bulk of the photographs dating from the 1870s to the 1940s. Many of these photographs have been digitized and are searchable in Digital PUL.

Organized competitive athletics appeared on the Princeton campus in the 1850s and 1860s through the formation of intramural and intercollegiate athletics clubs which evolved over the ensuing century into the modern collegiate athletic system. The collection consists of scrapbooks and sets of clippings about sports and athletes at Princeton.

Joseph Coy Green (Princeton Class of 1908) served in a number of State Department positions, including his appointment as special representative to the International Institute of Agriculture in Rome (1931), chairman of the Armaments Commission (1944-1946), member of the U.S. Mission to observe the elections in Greece (1946), director of the Foreign Service Board of Examiners, and ambassador to Jordan (1952-1953). Included in this collection are correspondence, journals, scrapbooks, diaries, reports, notes, and printed matter.

This series consists of various documents belonging to or pertaining to Rollins. This series is organized as follows: miscellaneous documents (organized alphabetically), financial documents, Princeton documents (divided according to those from his time as an undergraduate and those from his time as an alumnus), legal documents, and various documents relating to Rollins. Included at the end of this series is the inaugural issue of Biblia.

This series consists of various items mostly relating to Chase's family connections to the artist's colony in Woodstock, New York.

Includes photographs showing the student body of St. Louis College in Tientsin during World War II. There are photographs of Charles Ruas's junior French section and his older brother Franklin Ruas's senior French section. There is also a two-part photograph of the whole faculty and student body of the French and English sections.

Consists of photographic prints, contact sheets, and negatives, primarily in black-and-white, including shots taken in the WBAI studio in New York City, as well as promotional photographs and portraits gifted to Ruas by authors and artists with whom he worked. Most of the photographs taken in the WBAI studio are by Joan Schwartz, including images of various authors reading from Marguerite Young's Miss MacIntosh, My Darling, as well as a number of photographs of poets reading at a New Year's Eve poetry reading at St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery in 1975. In addition to containing photographs of many of the writers and artists reflected elsewhere throughout this collection, musicians and composers like Patti Smith, Lou Reed, and Phillip Glass are also represented in this group of photographs. Also of note is a group of portraits and photographs of performances by Babette Mangolte. While most photographic materials in the collection are described here, some, which were originally kept with manuscript materials and ephemera, are described with the general Author and Artist Files.

Consists of several hundred lantern slides containing images of Princeton University, primarily the campus and buildings.

Series 4: Photographs documents the buildings, the social life, and the general atmosphere surrounding the clubs. Time frames for the photographs are noted on the back of each photo.

Galbraith Ward, Class of 1915, and Marquand Ward, Class of 1917, were both Princeton graduates who served and died in World War I. This collection consists of many letters and postcards they wrote to their childhood nurse, Margaret Heyerdahl, plus a photograph album compiled after their deaths.

The collection consists of materials relating to the three-day Sesquicentennial Celebration in October 1896, at which the College of New Jersey became Princeton University. In addition to ephemera and printed material distributed at the celebration, the collection includes a typescript draft of President Francis Landey Patton's sermon, sesquicentennial memorial books, a published sketchbook, official congratulations from other institutions, and press releases and newspaper clippings reporting the events.

Consists primarily of correspondence, photograph albums, lantern slides, printed material, sermon drafts, and film reels documenting the years DuBois S. Morris (Class of 1893) spent as a Presbyterian missionary in Eastern China during the late 1800s through the 1920s.

Contains correspondence primarily between Dubois Morris and Alice Morris during their marriage, as well as letters during their courtship in 1910. There is a wedding invitation and a marriage album embossed with "The Marriage Service." Some correspondence pertains to Dubois Morris's decision to do missionary work in China. Other correspondents include George Rowley from the Department of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University; William S. Dix from Princeton Library, regarding donating Morris's archives; and some ephemera regarding Dubois Morris's death in 1956.

Materials also pertain to Dubois Morris's missionary work and consist of annual reports to and from the Central Presbyterian Church in New York City, NY, and annual reports from Huaiyuan. There are also sermon outlines, notes, and talks. There are several school papers and a heavily annotated Bible, likely from Dubois Morris's time at Harvard University and/or Columbia University while he was completing his postgraduate theological studies. There are cabinet cards from Morris's time at Princeton, and materials related to his inclusion in the Class of 1893, including Class Day booklets, directories, reunion books, etc. from the decades following. There are a couple of booklets on membership rules and bylaws for other organizations, such as The Pilgrims, the Quill Club, and the Shanghai Tiffin Club. There is a small amount of family papers, including a paper from Dubois Morris's younger brother, James Edgar Morris; and 1997 journal entries and photographs of a trip to Huaiyuan from Robert Morris, Dubois Morris's grandson. The scrapbooks consist of an 1898 scrapbook pertaining to George Candee Buell's passing; a bridal book containing information about the bridal party, engagement gifts, and wedding gifts, with loose scraps and notes; a Huaiyuan photograph album from 1912; and a photograph album which appears to contain photographs from Alice Buell Morris's schooldays and of her travels.

Consists primarily of United States Army officer George E. Albee's correspondence along with other papers, including a diary documenting his service with the 41st Infantry Regiment during the Indian Wars of 1869, which earned him the Medal of Honor. Some research files on Albee and his antiquean arms collection are also included.

Covering note from Dean Finch, dated October 14, 1987, along with 1) 1978 correspondence with then Joan Girgus Aaron Lemonick regarding the senior thesis and comprehensives; 2) papers on the preceptorial with a rare list of the original preceptors; 3) two copies of "Points for Preceptors" (authored by Dean Finch), and 4) papers from the files of Dean Finch and Dean Brown.

A small amount of the broadsides and posters are in Spanish, along with a German periodical. One of the scrapbooks is associated with the Schoene family. Some of the periodicals and newspapers in this addition include issues of Illustrated Circus Life, Sarasota Herald-Tribune, and Sawdust and Spangles. Some of the circuses and performance groups represented in the publicity materials (broadsides, posters, programs, etc.) include Welch's National Circus and Theatre, Rose Kilian Great Southern Shows, Lewis Bros. 3 Ring Circus, and Spalding and Rogers' Circus.

Consists primarily of material relating to Ohio farmer Luzern Humphrey's overland journey from Kanesville, Iowa, to the Oregon Territory in 1852, his life there through 1853, and his return to Iowa in 1854, including his journal and 51 letters to his wife in Ohio. Also included are some papers relating to the family of William Miller, the founder of Adventism.

Consists of correspondence and other materials collected by Mathieu-Guillaume-Thérèse Villenave relating to Alina d'Eldir, including her biography, her work with magnetism treatments, and the Ordre Asiatique de Morale Universelle.

This collection consists of offprints of articles written by Princeton alumni and faculty; however, in some instances the articles are written about an individual alumni or faculty member. The offprints generally consist of journals, published articles, speeches, lectures, sermons, memorials, and articles from scientific journals and magazines.

Charles W. Yost (1907-1981) led a varied career as a diplomat, United Nations representative, writer, and scholar. He was a member of the foreign service intermittently between 1930 and 1971, after which time he devoted himself full-time to writing and teaching. Yost's papers document his professional life in the Foreign Service, as well as his time in academia, and include his correspondence, writings, and photographs.

William F. Shellman was a member of the Dept. of Architecture faculty at Princeton University faculty forty years (1946-1986). He taught introductory courses in architecture and the visual arts and courses designed to heighten architectural students' visual sensitivity. His collection consists of his papers, primarily lectures and notes for his classes, but including matted illustrations and photographs of sample forms of architecture, cassette tapes of lectures, slides, architectural drawings, and watercolors.
