Included as part of the final gothic design of Princeton's Graduate School was a 173-foot tower, a national memorial to former U.S. President Grover Cleveland who was also chairman of the trustees' graduate school committee. The collection consists of 11 log books signed by visitors to the Cleveland Memorial Tower.

Consists of the typed manuscript, with holograph corrections, of historian Karoly Lonyay's biography Rudolph, the Tragedy of Mayerling (1949), which centered around the 1889 suicidal death of the heir to the Austrian crown.

Davis Spencer (1924-2005), a member of the Class of 1945, rowed on Princeton's freshman and varsity crews, and coached the 150-pound crew team that won the Royal Henley Regatta in 1948. The papers document Princeton's varsity 150-pound crew team as competitors and victors of the 1948 Royal Henley Regatta.

The papers of Joseph A. Robinson, Princeton Class of 1931, are comprised almost entirely of Robinson's letters to his family during the years 1941-1952, when Robinson worked in the Office of War Information and the Foreign Service. The collection includes some drafts and copies of his work, radio scripts and newspaper clippings, as well as photographs, currency, invitations and postcards. Some of the later letters cover portions of his term in the Foreign Service, though with significant gaps. The most fully documented year is 1946. Robinson was involved in the establishment of informational and cultural affairs agencies in Saigon and Warsaw, and describes the internal politics and external challenges of creating an American news presence overseas.

Consists of 128 letters (1922-1946) by Scribner editor Maxwell E. Perkins to his long-time friend and platonic lover Elizabeth H. Lemmon.

This collection consists of two photograph albums and a typewritten memoir documenting Lauretta McDowell's six-month period of work as a cadet nurse at the Tacoma (Cushman) Indian Hospital on Puyallup land in Washington State. The albums include photographs of Puyallup and other Indigenous patients, as well as McDowell's fellow nurses and doctors.

In 1946 the University unveiled a memorial to those students who had been lost during the Second World War in Nassau Hall. The records document the planning and execution of the memorial including pictures, preliminary lists of honorees, correspondence with parents and campus groups, and programs from the memorial's unveiling ceremony.

Consists of correspondence between David Nelson Rowe, a professor in Princeton University's School of Public and International Affairs, and five of his Princeton University students who had joined the U.S. Army, Navy, or the Marines, during World War II.

Contains notes of Ellis (Princeton Class of 1945) entitled "Notes on the Present Political Situation" in Japan, covering June 28 to August 10, 1946, during the period in which he served as a translator and interpreter of Japanese.

Oliver "Jack" Thompson joined the U.S. Army in 1942, and served under General Douglas MacArthur during the Occupation of Japan from 1946-1956. During the Military Tribunal for the Far East (IMTFE), Thompson served in the Public Information Office as a 1st Lieutenant. The collection largely consists of judgements, summation documents, and opinions from the IMTFE.

The Bureau of Student Placement was an administrative office at Princeton University that operated roughly from 1945 to 1953 and acted as a liaison between the various armed services and the Princeton University community. The records consist of army, navy, and marine corps plans for colleges, card files containing information about students in the service, and the correspondence of director Gordon G. Sikes which includes letters to and from servicemen, military officials, and other University administrators.

Consists of thirteen letters from Charles Gillispie (1918-2015) home to his parents, Raymond Livingston Gillispie and Virginia Coulston, while he was stationed with the United States Army in France, Germany, and Austria during the final months of World War II in Europe. His letters, which span from March 9th to August 25th, 1945, are addressed from France, Germany, Austria, Bavaria, and Camp Shelby in Mississippi, and describe the conditions for American soldiers and prisoners of war in Europe, the state of the people and infrastructure in the German and French countryside, and other topics.

The Committee on Safety and Insurance was an administrative organization that dealt with occupational safety and insurance issues throughout University facilities and departments. The records consist of Commitee minutes, accident reports, insurance policies, general subject files, and correspondence.

Consists of four small groups of correspondence between Wesley Halliburton and others after the death of his famous son Richard in 1939. Richard Halliburton was a celebrated adventurer and author known, among other things, for having swum the length of the Panama Canal.

Consists of selected papers of civil engineer William B. Bamford, a member of the Princeton University Class of 1900.

Consists of 108 letters by Mencken to Dent Smith between the years 1938 and 1945, with Smith's side of the correspondence present in carbon copies.

The papers of Lincoln MacVeagh (1890-1972) relate to his diplomatic career as Minister to Greece (1933-1942) and Ambassador to the exiled Greek and Yugoslav Governments in Cairo (1943-1944) and his return to Athens as Ambassador to Greece (1944-1947). The papers contain typed transcripts of portions of diaries during much of the above described period (with the exclusion of personal and family matters found in the original diaries). The papers also contain copies of correspondence between Ambassador MacVeagh and President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1932-1945) from the National Archives and the Roosevelt Library as well as dispatches and telegrams from MacVeagh to the State Department (1933-1940) which relate primarily to political and diplomatic events in Greece and Yugoslavia.

Paul R. Sweet (1907-2003) was a political intelligence officer for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in the Research and Analysis (R and A) branch during World War II. He later worked for the U.S. State Department and was a history professor. This collection documents Sweet's professional life, especially his service in the OSS and his teaching career. The collection also contains family correspondence.

Harold Gardiner Bowen was director of the Naval Research Laboratory (1939-1942), special assistant to the Secretary of the Navy (1939-1947), chief of the Office of Naval Research (1946-1947), and executive secretary of the Thomas Alva Edison Foundation. This collection consists of selected papers of Vice-Admiral Bowen, including speeches, articles, documents, printed matter, and manuscripts for his book Ships, Machinery, and Mossbacks, The Autobiography of a Naval Engineer (Princeton, N.J.: Princeton University Press, 1954).

Alexander Leitch was a member of the Princeton Class of 1924 and an administrator at Princeton University for the entirety of his professional career, most notably holding the Office of the Secretary from 1933 to 1963. Consists of 55 oversized scrapbooks assembled by Alexander Leitch '24 during his career as a Princeton University administrator.

James Ward Smith enrolled at Princeton University in 1934, first graduating with the Class of 1938 before proceeding with graduate studies in Princeton's Department of Philosophy. Following his military service during WWII, Smith returned to Princeton to begin a long career as Professor of Philosophy. The collection is comprised of letters written by Smith to his parents from September, 1934, when Smith entered Princeton, to his discharge from the Navy in 1946.

Horton Davies was a Princeton University professor of religion; his wife, Marie-Helene Davies, is author of LAUGHTER IN A GENEVAN GOWN: THE WORKS OF FREDERICK BUECHNER, 1970-1980 (1983). Consists of papers relating to the novelist Frederick Buechner (Princeton Class of 1947) collected or created by Davies.

Herman Struve Hensel (1901-1991) was an international lawyer. This collection consists of two scrapbooks containing clippings, correspondence, press releases, photographs, articles and speeches relating to Hensel's service as assistant secretary of the Navy and to the Army-McCarthy Hearings.

Consists of a collection of thirty-one miscellaneous documents concerning the incarceration of Japanese Americans by the United States government during World War II at the Tule Lake Relocation Center (later Tule Lake Segregation Center) and other American concentration camps. Most of the materials in this collection relate to a 1943 loyalty questionnaire and the resulting segregation at Tule Lake of those labeled as "disloyal," which led to thousands of incarcerated Japanese Americans deciding to renounce their U.S. citizenship and apply for repatriation to Japan. Materials document resistance efforts by organized groups, such as Sokuji Kikoku Hoshi-dan, as well as individual acts of resistance by incarcerees.

This collection primarily consists of glass lantern slides of California collected by L. R. Higgins dating from the 1910s-1920s, and possibly from the 1930s. California locales and subjects include Pasadena and vicinity, Camp Baldy and vicinity, sequoias, Yosemite Valley, the High Sierras, the city and residences of Los Angeles, the Tournament of Roses, Spanish mission churches, the town of Riverside, colored slides of local semi-precious gemstones, and relief maps of California.

Esther Hoffman served with the Intelligence Establishment of the Department of the Army for over forty-one years. Doris Hoffman worked as a secretary for the League of Nations Commission in Peking, China between 1929 and 1934. The collection consists largely of letters written home by sisters Esther and Doris Hoffman while employed in Peking, China between 1925 and 1941.

Consists primarily of correspondence to Kiyoshi Paul Shimada, a Japanese American farmer from Lodi, California, while he was incarcerated at the Rohwer War Relocation Center along with his family from 1942-1943. There are also photographic prints and negatives, as well as receipts from a store in Arkansas.

Each of Princeton's advisory councils is comprised of alumni and other individuals who act in an advisory capacity to the various academic departments through meetings with departmental faculty, administration, and the Alumni Council. The records consist of correspondence and member lists of the inaugural Advisory Councils of various departments.

Ralph Barton Perry was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1896, a Harvard Philosophy Professor, and a Pulitzer-Prize winning writer producing works on philosophy, history, and politics in his lifetime. The Ralph Barton Perry Papers consist of correspondence, speeches, clippings, and other materials documenting Ralph Barton Perry's life as an alumnus of the Princeton Class of 1896.
