Blues People: Negro Music in White America Typescript Draft of Chapter on Classic Blues, circa 1963

Consists of a corrected typescript draft of a chapter titled "Classic Blues" ("Chapter VII") from Blues People: Negro Music in White America, published in 1963 by Amiri Baraka (as LeRoi Jones). Each page of the typescript has dozens of changes, showing Baraka's writing process. Several pages have entire paragraphs crossed out, and another page has the lyrics of a blues song, "Put It Right Here," with Baraka's notation to the editor to insert them.

The bulk of the correspondence contains response to her publications, Beyond the Sea, Swimming Lessons, and Map of Everything; notices and publicity; launch and readings coordination; and endorsement blurbs. Other materials documenting these books include ephemera such as flyers, programs, launch invitations, clippings of reviews, a small amount of design mockups, and a proof of Map of Everything. Other correspondence are from individuals regarding each others' works, book launches, reading events, and individual and publisher requests for inclusion in various publications. There is a small amount of logistical correspondence regarding Fitzgerald's teaching. Correspondents represented in this box include: Kieran McLoughlin, Paul Allen, John McAuliffe, Jessie Lendennie and Siobhán Hutson (on behalf of Salmon Poetry), Nessa O'Mahony, Nick Kennedy, Hélène Cardona, Carlo Gébler, David Wheatley, and Paul Casey, among others.

Consists of correspondence with Dermot McCabe (who had comments and edits for Fitzgerald's proof of Beyond the Sea), Carlo Gébler, Jessie Lendennie, Harry Clifton, Leeds University, Nessa O'Mahony, Colette O'Donoghue, Pushkin Trust, and the Duchess of Abercorn. The correspondence generally regards launch events, readings, submissions, and each others' works, and are accompanied by promotional materials like brochures and flyers, and photographs. There are some clippings and periodicals of some of Anne Fitzgerald's earliest published poetry. There is a small amount of teaching material from Fitzgerald's time at the Taos Institute of Art in New Mexico and the Poetry Ireland Centre consisting of correspondence, promotional material (brochures and pamphlets), and photographs.

The Interview Transcripts series is composed of transcripts of interviews conducted by Gaddis in preparation for his authorized biography of George F. Kennan. Gaddis interviewed Kennan, his family, and his colleagues in the United States government and in academia. The interview topics span Kennan's entire life and include his family, education, years in the Foreign Service, and his career at the Institute for Advanced Study. Subjects of the interviews include Kennan's opinions on various world events and political issues, his experiences at the embassies where he served, notably in the Soviet Union, and with the Policy Planning Staff, his contributions to government policies and to scholarship, his opinions of various individuals, and general impressions about Kennan.

The recordings are on audio cassette tapes and each tape has been copied onto CD.

This series also contains the collection's only born-digital photographs, more than 800 images of the Princeton Class of 1982's 25th reunion in May of 2007.

Series 3: Water and Sanitation, 1985-2012

Series 3 includes material related to Mauerstein-Bail's involvement in water and sanitation projects. There are several reports on water and sanitation strategies and plans and documentation on other water and sanitation initiatives, in particular examining the role of women and community participation. A substantial part of this series is a collection of 47 bundles of an interview transcript; the interview is with Margaret Mwangola of the Kenya Water for Health Organization (KWAHO) and is connected to a book project on water and sanitation issue that presumably involved Mauerstein-Bail as an advisor or editor for the project. A draft text of the book is included in this series.

The third section, Political Analysis (1985-2000) (Files 39-43), is divided into general serials, general monographs, and the publications of two specific political watchdog organizations: Conciencia: Movimiento No Partidario para una Participación Cívica Responsible y Eficaz and Fundación Andina. The publications consist of political commentary, unrelated to specific elections, produced by organizations other than Argentina's major political parties. Some of these, like Conciencia and Fundación Andina, exist for the purpose of regular political observation in Argentina and elsewhere. Others may be organizations with a broader socially active scope that happen to have published commentary on Argentine politics.
