The Greenbaum, Edward S., Files series documents Greenbaum's work as trustee for the American estate of Ivar Kreuger. The files include correspondence and memoranda, documents submitted to the United States District Court, and files on claims and settlement agreements of creditors and subsidiaries of Kreuger Toll. The files also include records regarding the liquidation of the estate of Ivar Kreuger and the liquidation of the company's Swedish assets.

Series 2: General Files, 1749-1947, consists of a broad group of materials touching on issues relating to Princeton life and history. Researchers should consult the container listing for the best accounting of this series. Interesting items include a letter with the earliest-known account of the College of New Jersey, circa 1749-1750 (see Princeton Alumni Weekly, 3/11/1905); a group of letters to and from Joseph Shippen, Class of 1756, describing military actions in the French and Indian War and mentioning Wolfe, Amherst, Ticonderoga and Fort Duquesne (1756-1758); a pencil sketch of three Princeton students being escorted to the depot after having been suspended for "pumping" a secessionist (1861); a letter by P. Glennon from Washington D.C., dated July 10, 1861, discussing activities of the Union Army prior to the First Battle of Bull Run; a letter from Ralph Vaughn Williams turning down an invitation to compose a work for the Princeton Chapel (1937). There is also a small general file at the conclusion of this series containing unidentified materials.

The Pyne-Henry Collection is a diverse group of documents, letters and writings relating to Princeton University, covering an array of topics primarily concerning student life and administrative activities. The collection consists of letters, essays and orations, reports, memoranda, minutes, proclamations, accounts and class lists, and other documents written by students, faculty and administrators which, along with other administrative records and Trustee Minutes, constitute the earliest records and documentary history of the University. Most of these papers and records were amassed by Princeton alumni Moses Taylor Pyne (Class of 1877) and Bayard Henry (Class of 1876) during the latter half of the nineteenth century.

Series 2: General, 1917-1950 contains biographical information, photographs, scrapbooks, and documents other than correspondence.

Chalmers Benedict Wood joined the Foreign Service after serving in World War II and held positions in several embassies as well as working in the State Department. These papers include writings, correspondence, clippings, and State Department documents from his time as a Foreign Service Officer in Vietnam in 1967-1969.

Series 2, Correspondence, 1928-1969, contains correspondence dealing with subjects such as membership enquiries and requirements, dates of meetings, replacement of lost keys, and other administrative matters. Most letters are addressed to Dean Christian Gauss and Secretaries Glenn Jepsen, Foreman Acton, T. J. Luce, Douglas Brown, and William Shimer. Some of the highlights of the correspondence are letters concerning graduate students' eligibility for membership (which ceased after 1925), tax exemption status, and statements on athletics. The series further contains invitations to prominent scholars (including Robert Oppenheimer) to speak at the annual meetings.

The files in Series 2: Carl W. Schafer Files, 1930-1982 (bulk 1972-1982) touch on a broad range of topics related to the financial operations of Princeton University, including investments, income and budget. The files document his service on the Resources Committee and the Priorities Committee of the Council of the Princeton University Community, which addressed issues including the divestiture of Princeton University from investments in South Africa. The files also include information on a proposed merger between the University and the Institute for Advanced Studies, as well as the development of Palmer Square.

American Charles William White wrote historical novels about artists and writers under the pen name of "Max White." Active as a historical fiction writer primarily in the 1930s through 1950s, White traveled in the same social circles as Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas. The collection consists of manuscripts and correspondence of Charles William White ("Max White"), including correspondence with Alice B. Toklas and Gertrude Stein.

Dora Marsden was an English author, editor, and suffragette. The collection contains correspondence about Marsden's books and periodicals, manuscripts sent to the periodicals, correspondence with other feminists, part of James Joyce's A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and correspondence with contemporary literary figures.

Series 1: Princeton Athletics Scrapbooks and Clippings, circa 1914-1967 consists of scrapbooks and sets of clippings about sports and athletes at Princeton. It includes materials about Hobey Baker, Bill Bradley, and Princeton University football.

Organized competitive athletics appeared on the Princeton campus in the 1850s and 1860s through the formation of intramural and intercollegiate athletics clubs which evolved over the ensuing century into the modern collegiate athletic system. Series 1: November 2008 Accession, 1947-1978 documents Princeton's varsity 150-pound crew team as competitors and victors of the 1948 Royal Henley Regatta. The papers contain a scrapbook, photographs, correspondence, telegrams, press releases and other materials. Topics documented include fundraising efforts, trip expenses, the journey abroad, crew team members, and the Princeton University community's response to the victory.

May 2008 Accession consists of correspondence between family members prior to and following Allen Macy Dulles' injury as a Marine lieutenant in the Korean War. Prior to the injury, the correspondence documents Dulles's education and activities at primary school, Phillips Exeter Academy, Princeton University and Oxford University. Following the injury, materials include correspondence to and from Allen Macy Dulles, professional and personal correspondence of Allen Welsh Dulles and the Dulles family, correspondence with doctors regarding Dulles' physical condition, and military records including a citation for the Silver Star Medal which Dulles earned for his wartime leadership and bravery.

The Collection on William F. McCombs contains materials on and by William F. McCombs, a lawyer who was actively involved in Woodrow Wilson's gubernatorial and presidential campaigns. McCombs' secretary, Maurice F. Lyons, provided transcripts of correspondence and notes authored by McCombs to Arthur S. Link, as part of Link's work on The Papers of Woodrow Wilson. Correspondence between Lyons and Link concerning the typescripts is also located in this collection, as well as a set of bound newspaper clippings on Wilson's campaigns and administrations created by McComb's sister.

Luther P. Eisenhart taught mathematics at Princeton and was one of the original preceptors appointed in 1905 by Princeton University president Woodrow Wilson. The Luther P. Eisenhart Collection on Woodrow Wilson contains correspondence between Eisenhart and Woodrow Wilson, Eisenhart and others about Woodrow Wilson, letters received by Churchill Eisenhart, and miscellaneous Wilson-related ephemera.

Since its first class of six graduates and one honoree in 1748, Princeton University has awarded over 80,000 diplomas. This collection contains 213 original diplomas and photostats, including executed diplomas as well as blank, sample or spoiled diplomas.

This series documents Dean's life at the American University in Beirut and his service as United States delegate to the meetings of GATT. It consists of certificates, documentation of conferences, correspondence, diaries, memorabilia, newspaper clippings, a photograph, and a résumé. The correspondence is primarily from his time as a student at the American University in Beirut.

Prentice Northup Dean (1897-1981) was a practicing economist for the United States Tariff Commission and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He also held teaching positions at Princeton University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Buena Vista University. Dean's papers document his service as United States delegate to the meetings of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and his years studying at the American University in Beirut, and include correspondence, diaries, documentation of conferences, memorabilia, and newspaper clippings. The papers also include the correspondence, diaries, and manuscripts of his family members May Dershimer née Walter and Martin R. Walter.

Series 1 exists of family and personal correspondence, including correspondence and related papers that Thompson seems to have designated for his "Curio" volumes of family correspondence and memorabilia (see Series 4).

Robert H. Dicke, born in 1916, was a Princeton physicist, educator, and author. The collection includes Dicke's professional correspondence, files from his work with the Office of Naval Research, NASA, and the National Science Board, and the National Science Foundation, and assorted other documents.

Consists of correspondence and business papers of the Derrydale Press, from its foundation in 1926 by Eugene V. Connett III (Princeton Class of 1912) through its liquidation in 1942. There is also a great deal of correspondence by Connett and his staff concerning the acquisition and editing of manuscripts, sales, and distribution, and promotion of the books.

The Correspondence series primarily documents Bowman's childhood and young adulthood, from his stay as a boy at a sanitarium in Kansas City for diabetes treatment through his years at Stanford and Princeton. Correspondence between Bowman and his mother, Mary Augusta Brooks Bowman, is particularly rich in part because they wrote each other almost daily and in great detail. Bowman's letters to his mother from Stanford and Princeton, in particular, are lively and quick-witted and reveal his myriad social activities, impressions of college life, and opinions on subjects of all sorts, from family matters to politics to popular films and actors. Correspondence with his father, sister, and brother can be equally revealing but does not match the sheer volume of correspondence between mother and son. Letters from Bowman's friends are also worth noting for their vivid evocations of private school and college life in the 1920s and 1930s. Bowman corresponded with several young women, including a cousin, Edith Brooks, who was traveling in the car with Bowman at the time he was killed. The young women's letters, in particular, contain a vivaciousness and convey their own and Bowman's very active social lives. Bowman also maintained a correspondence over many years with a member of the crew he met on a Cunard Lines voyage he took as a boy with his family. The crew member sent Bowman many letters and postcards from his voyages around the world.

Brooks Bowman '36 is best remembered as the composer of the songs "East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)" and "Love and a Dime." The Brooks Bowman Papers consist of correspondence and photographs that document his school years and his foray into the music industry. The bulk of the papers consist of Bowman's correspondence with his mother, sister, and numerous friends.

The Correspondence series contains letters sent and received by Close during his work with President Wilson. The letters to his wife, Helen Close, document his journey to Europe aboard the USS George Washington for the Paris Peace Conference, the people encountered in Europe, the places visited, and the treaty's progress.

During World War I, Gilbert Fairchild Close held several positions in the government of President Woodrow Wilson, culminating with that of Stenographer and Private Secretary to the President. The papers document Close's work with Wilson, including the trip Close took to Europe with Wilson for the Paris Peace Conference at the conclusion of World War I.

The Correspondence series is composed of letters to and from Garrison in his capacity of Secretary of War with government and military officials and concerned citizens. The correspondence includes discussions of military policy and world events, as well as business pleasantries such as invitations, letters of introduction, letters of appreciation for materials received, requests for photographs and statements, and travel itineraries. The majority of the correspondence is concerned with World War I, including military preparedness, legislation effecting the military, training and cadet candidacy at West Point, enlistments and retirements, awards and medical care for military personnel, and aiding American citizens who were in Europe. The correspondence also discusses other issues that fell under the auspices of the War Department, including addressing violence along the border with Mexico during a civil war, the Panama Canal, the Philippines, a strike in Colorado, and water issues.

Series 1: Beer Jacket Designs, 1917-1979 consists of materials documenting the evolution of beer jacket designs throughout the greater part of the 20th century. Included are metal stencils as well as decals, drawings and contact prints. Some of the designs are accompanied by explanatory notes or alternate versions.

The metal stencils portion of the collection consists of a nearly complete run of stencils for the years 1921 through 1973, however, there are no stencils representing the years 1941, 1957, 1965, 1967 or 1969.

The boards primarily include floorplans, artistic renderings, elevations and campus footprints.

Series 1: Antioch Excavation Financial Records, 1935-1938 consists of detailed expense vouchers from the second half of the excavation of Antioch. Each voucher lists a single expense, its cost, and its purpose. Also included as expenses are purchases of antiquities found during the excavation.

Series 1: Alan W. Richards Photographs of Princeton University Athletics, 1946-1970 consists of photographic negatives and a very few photographic prints of images captured by Alan W. Richards of Princeton University athletes and sports events. Approximately 3/4 of the images are related to Princeton University football. Tillman and Alekseyev were pen pals, and, as Esperantists, they used Esperanto to communicate with each other. Alfred S. Dashiell was an American writer and editor. His papers relate primarily to his time as editor of Scribner's and Reader's Digest. Letters, memorabilia, and incomplete manuscripts of Thomas Wolfe appear, along with letters from other authors, assorted correspondence, and papers dealing with the Princeton matters of Terrace Club, Graduate Council, Hibben Fund, and Class of 1923 reunions.

Rudolf Ladenburg was a German-born scientist who became a nuclear physicist at Princeton University until his retirement in 1950. The collection contains some of Ladenburg's manuscripts, lecture and course notes, and notes on nuclear physics.

This group of material relates to five generations of the Trenton branch of the Scudder family. The first generation is represented by Richard Betts Scudder (1670-1754) with an appointment as lieutenant in a British company of foot soldiers in Burlington County from 1711 and two inventories relating to his Trenton estate, both dating 1754. For Richard Betts Scudder's grandsons Daniel Scudder (1736-1811) and Amos Scudder (1739-1824), there is an indenture dating 1770. Daniel Scudder's grandsons, John Scudder (1796-1840), Jasper Smith Scudder (1797-1877), and Abner Scudder (1800-1878), are represented by two indentures as well as a receipt for a slave named Samuel Conover, all dated 1825. Edward Wallace Scudder (1822-1893), son of Jasper Smith Scudder, is represented in two documents: a print of the members of the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey in 1886 and an invitation to a World's Columbian Exposition event in 1892. Finally, the class notebooks of Wallace M. Scudder (1853-1931), son of Edward Wallace Scudder, are present in the collection and provide information regarding his training as an engineer at Lehigh University, circa 1869 to 1873, and his training as a lawyer at Harvard University from 1879 to 1881. The last items in this group of materials are a draft and final version of an article for the newsletter titled "The Scudder Association, Inc.," dating 1983. This newsletter and the drafts contain biographical information on Edward Wallace Scudder (1822-1893), Wallace McIlvaine Scudder (1853-1931), and Edward Wallace Scudder, II (1882-1953).

Westfield, New Jersey, was part of Elizabethtown from the time it was settled in late 1664 until 1794, when the Township of Westfield was created. The New Jersey Documents Collections, 1601 to 1983, consists of New Jersey legal documents, the bulk of which are from the town of Westfield, Union County, and include land records, financial records, estate records, and court records, many of which were created by various members of the Baker, Downer, Hetfield, Johnson, Miller, Pierson, Ripley, Ross, and Woodruff families. The majority of the collection material dates from 1750 to 1890.

Consists of screenplays for over 500 films produced by Columbia Studios, Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Twentieth Century Fox, and others.

The Nelson R. Burr Papers consists of works, correspondence, documents, photographs, scrapbooks, juvenilia, and printed matter of American historian, Nelson R. Burr (Princeton Class of 1927). The collection contains materials from his book Education in New Jersey, 1630-1871 (1942), as well as notes, essays and personal correspondence from his undergraduate and graduate school years at Princeton.

Consists of 486 scrapbooks of playbills covering not only theater but also opera, ballet, and music.

The Sara Enright Papers consists of papers relating to Enright's role as theatrical agent to performers, many of whom were and are well-known, as well as to aspiring actors and actresses. The collection includes legal contracts (originals and carbons), correspondence of Enright, miscellaneous material containing commission receipts, and playbills.

Consists of photocopies of a Tewa-speaking tribe's documents from the archive of the governor of San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, including leases, operating accounts, financial statements, contracts, and notices. There are also three open-reel audiotapes containing recordings of songs from the Hopi, San Juan, and Zuni peoples.

Samuel Shellabarger attended Princeton University as member of the Princeton Class of 1909 and was an English professor between 1914-1923. The collection contains Samuel Shellabarger's manuscripts for two biographies and five works of historical fiction, as well as a small amount of miscellaneous material related to his writings.

Consists chiefly of several official documents from the years just following World War II, when Samuel Reber was Acting Deputy Director for the Office of European Affairs with the U.S. Department of State and, later, Acting United States High Commissioner for Germany.

Roland S. (Sletor) Morris was a leader of the Democratic Party in Pennsylvania and was the ambassador to Japan from 1917-1921. The Roland S. Morris Papers consist of correspondence, diaries, writings, and other materials that document Morris's family life, political involvement in the Democratic Party, and his position as the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 1917-1921.

Robert Vossler Keeley ('51) was a U.S. Foreign Service member and writer who served in a number of posts. The Robert V. Keeley Papers consist of reports, correspondence, writings, journals, and photographs from the breadth of Keeley's career, including his Foreign Service postings in Uganda, Cambodia, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, and Greece, as well as correspondence and other materials created and kept by Robert Keeley's wife, Louise Keeley.

Consists of comprehensive working files for a biography of Robert Sundance, which was published by Chaco Press as Sundance: The Robert Sundance Story in 1994. Marc Gaede and Robert Sundance first met in 1986 after Sundance spoke out in defense of Gaede's controversial book Bordertowns, which depicted alcoholism in Native American communities. In 1990, Sundance and the Gaedes agreed to collaborate on Sundance's biography, which they worked on from 1990 to 1993, with Marc Gaede composing the text of the biography from recordings of Sundance telling his story and Marnie Gaede providing editorial guidance. Fifty-four audiocassette tapes containing recordings of Sundance's oral history are present, as well as transcriptions, drafts of the biography in both paper and digital form, and administrative correspondence regarding publishing and editorial matters. There is also a significant group of legal research files compiled and annotated by Sundance during the 1970s and 1980s, which include court documents, clippings, and publicity materials regarding his case, as well as other American Indian rights issues. A smaller group of personal and family papers of Robert Sundance includes other writings by him, correspondence, personal documents, and family and childhood photographs.

Robert MacArthur Crawford (Princeton Class of 1925) was an American songwriter and singer. His collection consists of sheet music of songs, mainly with patriotic themes. Some of the songs are in his hand but most of them in printed form, including the U.S. Air Force's theme song, "The Army Air Corps." In addition, there are two packages of records (78 rpm) of his songs.

Consists of scholar Robert K. Root's manuscript and notes for his annotated edition of Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde (1926), as well as six diaries he kept between the years 1914 and 1920.

Also includes "Plan of Study Leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Arts."

Consists of a photograph album, loose photographs, and clippings belonging to Robert J. Sommers (1881-1972), primarily documenting his work as a highway engineer in Alaska in the late 1920s, as well as some materials related to his personal life and career as a civil engineer and businessman involved in construction. Of note is a photograph album documenting a tour of Alaska made in 1928 by Sommers with Governor George A. Parks and Major Malcolm Elliott.
