Consists of correspondence and printed materials collected by German studies and comparative literature scholar Theodore Ziolkowski (1932- ). The majority of the collection comprises Ziolkowski's files on Hermann Hesse, particularly pertaining to the reception of Hesse's work in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. Other materials relate more broadly to 20th and early 21st century literature, with a focus on modern German authors and authors writing in German.

The Alvaro Yunque Correspondence consists of letters, manuscripts of poems, essays and other printed and miscellaneous material by Alvaro Yunque and others.

Established in 1920, the Office of the Controller is responsible for the preparation of the University's annual audited financial statements, as well as financial and tax reports to several government agencies including the Internal Revenue Service. Consists of records produced by the Office of the Controller that document University financial matters.

Charles W. Yost (1907-1981) led a varied career as a diplomat, United Nations representative, writer, and scholar. He was a member of the foreign service intermittently between 1930 and 1971, after which time he devoted himself full-time to writing and teaching. Yost's papers document his professional life in the Foreign Service, as well as his time in academia, and include his correspondence, writings, and photographs.

consists of scrapbooks of publicity photographs of American motion-picture actors and actresses, mainly of the 1930s and 1940s, collected by Mrs. A. M. Yeandle.

A writer of fiction and nonfiction, Philip Gordon Wylie (Princeton Class of 1924), authored hundreds of short stories, articles, serials, syndicated newspaper columns, novels, and works of social criticism. His collection consists of manuscripts and correspondence representing his life work, ranging from Dormitory Ditties, published during his college days (circa 1920), to The End of the Dream, a novel published posthumously in 1972.

WPRB is the student-operated FM radio station of Princeton University, providing music and live sports broadcasts to the Princeton campus community and surrounding areas. The records consist of various materials which document the origins and development of WPRB, including constitutions, by-laws, photographs, membership lists, clipped articles, board minutes, correspondence, and financial reports.

The World Press Freedom Committee (1976-2009) was an organization dedicated to monitoring threats to press freedom, focusing on major intergovernmental organizations, especially UNESCO. The WPFC served as a watchdog against limitations on press freedom and provided practical assistance programs to journalists abroad, especially in developing countries, to enable them to establish and maintain a free press. The World Press Freedom Committee Records document the administration and activities of the WPFC for its entire period of operations and include project files, meeting minutes, correspondence, and publications.

Consists of files of American antiquarian book dealer J. Howard Woolmer's correspondence with various poets and writers and author photographs.

Consists, primarily, of a life-long series of correspondence between Carter Godwin Woodson, founder of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, and Charles H. Wesley, African-American historian and college president.

The Regional Offices series documents the work and administration of the ACLU's three regional offices: Mountain States Regional Office, concerned with civil rights in the west and Native American rights, the Southern Regional Office, focusing on civil rights in the south, and the Washington, D.C. office, which concentrates on national legislation and the actions of the federal government. The files include correspondence, case files, office publications, research files, and the papers of individual staff members. The Woodrow Wilson Foundation was an organization formed in 1921 in New York City for the "perpetuation of Wilson's ideals" through research grants and publications. The collection consists of the administrative records of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, the bulk of which are financial records, correspondence, notes, committee minutes, press releases, research proposals, and awards dating from 1921-1963. The collection also includes a small amount of audivisual material, photographs and sound recordings.

Chalmers Benedict Wood joined the Foreign Service after serving in World War II and held positions in several embassies as well as working in the State Department. These papers include writings, correspondence, clippings, and State Department documents from his time as a Foreign Service Officer in Vietnam in 1967-1969.

W. Willard (Bill) Wirtz was a lawyer, an arbitrator, a law professor, and served as undersecretary and secretary of labor under Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. He was a speechwriter for, and close advisor to, Adlai Stevenson from 1952 to 1960. The W. Willard Wirtz Collection on Adlai Stevenson documents Stevenson's campaigns for president in 1952 and 1956, as well as Stevenson's political activities in 1960 and in between campaigns. Because Wirtz was a speechwriter in 1952, in charge of speech content in 1956, and a close advisor and occasional speechwriter at other times, this collection most strongly documents the campaign activities of drafting speeches and fine-tuning campaign policy.

Hubert Wilson Collection on the Department of Politics, 1924-1977 (bulk 1967-1977) consists primarily of published sources on topics of interest to Wilson, including the administration, finances and governance of Princeton University, the activities of the Priorities Committee, government ties and sponsored research at Princeton, ROTC, and campus politics. It also contains materials originating in Wilson's teaching at Princeton, including student papers and theses, as well as drafts of a publication titled "This Isn't Princeton".

The papers of Princeton University professor Harper Hubert Wilson document his interest and work in civil liberties. A self described "conservative, anarchist and socialist," Wilson provoked his students to think critically about the social problems confronting society, and to challenge the prevailing assumptions about American politics.

The Collection consists of 11 technical reports describing research done by the Department of Electrical Engineering on high frequency techniques. The research was conducted between 1946 and 1949 and was funded by the Office of Naval Research.

This collection consists of early versions of seven works by American playwright, novelist, and storywriter, Tennessee Williams.

The collection contains photographic negatives and prints of Princeton University campus life, taken by J. Wayman Williams for the Bric-a-Brac yearbook and the Princeton Alumni Weekly during the years 1943-1944 and 1947-1950. The collection is still being processed and the negatives are not available to view in the reading room. The negatives are in a queue for digitization.

This activities folder images of sports, ceremonies, a biplane, a bonfire, the Red Cross Headquarters in Palmer Square, the Princeton Playhouse, and various groups of people.

Consists of a closed collection of more than 5,000 Western Americana photographs, consisting mostly of documentary photographs of the Trans-Mississippi West from the late 1860s to early 1900s, largely from the perspective of white photographers and settlers. Subjects include American Indians (especially studio portraits), natural wonders, cities, towns, buildings, and economic activities (mining, railroads, logging, and agriculture). Some photographs relate to the Indigenous populations of Mexico and Central America. The dimensions, physical formats, and photographic processes of the photographs vary widely.

The papers of Whiting Willauer (1906-1962) reflect Willauer's entire career, but focus most strongly on the period from 1941 to 1954 when Willauer was in China and worked for China Defense Supplies, Inc. (1941-1944), the Foreign Economic Administration (1944-1945), the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration [NRRA] (1946-1947), and Civil Air Transport, Inc. (1946-1954). The papers also document his positions as an admiralty lawyer for the New York City law firm, Bingham, Dana and Gould (1931-1938), as Attorney, Criminal Division at the Department of Justice and Special Assistant to United States Attorney General (1929-1940), Special Counsel for the Federal Power Commission (1941), and his appointments as United States Ambassador to Honduras (1954-1958) and Costa Rica (1958-1961). In addition, materials which reflect Willauer's role as a delegate to the Organization of American States' Meetings of Foreign Ministers (August 1960) and to the United Nations General Assembly (October 1960) are found in the papers.

Series I: Biographical Materials includes a folder of notes written by Whiting Willauer about himself, as well as a folder of general biographical material about Willauer. Also included is a subseries of educational material, which contains correspondence and grade cards from Willauer's school days at Saint Albans, Stone School, and Princeton University.

Consists of the papers of Hungarian-born, Nobel Prize-winning physicist Eugene Wigner, and includes correspondence, subject files, writings, and offprints reflecting his long career in physics.

Hans A. Widenmann (1897-1976) was a stockbroker and economist with expertise in national and international monetary affairs. His successful business career was largely spent at Loeb, Rhoades & Company, and he was also frequently called upon to speak about international finance subjects. Widenmann's papers document his career at Loeb, Rhoades & Company and include his correspondence and writings, topical files, and biographical files.

The Biographical series is composed of photographs and memorabilia mounted on pages in approximately chronological order. The pages document Widenmann's travels, attendance at conferences, and informal interactions with colleagues and friends, and also include a smaller amount of material on Loeb, Rhoades Company and United States financial conditions. The photographs include formal group photographs, head shots and candid shots of event attendees at receptions, images of tourist attractions, and images of individuals at parties and on the beach. Some photographs include captions with the names of the individuals in the images. The memorabilia include clippings of articles and political cartoons, event programs, travel itineraries, invitations to events, Widenmann's name tags, and travel brochures. In addition, there are three bound volumes with similar content.

The papers of Violetta Susan Elizabeth White Delafield, consist of her writings, correspondence, documents, photographs, memorabilia, and miscellaneous material. Her writings and notes deal with her research in mycology and horticulture, and much of the correspondence reflects these topics. In addition, there is correspondence with family members such as her sister and brother, Lucy A. White Morris and Alain C. White. The documents contain papers of the White family as well as correspondence bearing on their estate. Material regarding the annual meetings of the Garden Club of America makes up the bulk of the miscellaneous material series.

The papers of Prosper Montgomery Wetmore, grandfather of Violetta White Delafield, consist of twelve bound volumes (1818-1874) of correspondence, as well as loose material including letters by Wetmore, genealogical papers, miscellaneous material, and printed matter. The bound volumes contain correspondence between Wetmore and his family, business, policial, civic, and Eleventh Regiment New York State Militia colleagues, also some of his poems and essays, documents, maps, miscellaneous material, and printed matter. Some of the correspondents included in the bound volumes are Townsend Harris, William H. Seward, Benson J. Lossing, William Cullen Bryant, and Martin Van Buren.

The papers of Richard Delafield, great-uncle of John Ross Delafield, consist of correspondence, photographs, genealogical papers, photocopies, and printed matter. The correspondence contains letters by Delafield, soldier and military engineer, in reference to army and engineering matters, some letters to family members, and letters about him sent to John Ross Delafield by the archivist of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. There is a photograph of Delafield taken while he was superintendent of West Point as well as photocopies of letters, an army order, reports, and sheet music of the "Florida March" and the "Manassas March," both dedicated to Delafield.

The Dorothy Shipley White Collection encompasses two sets of photographs, one on the life of Charles deGaulle and the other on French Africa. White presumably collected the photographs in preparation for her book, Black Africa and deGaulle (Pennsylvania State University Press, 1979). Mrs. White sent the photographs and negatives of the deGaulle photographs to Princeton in 1989.

American Charles William White wrote historical novels about artists and writers under the pen name of "Max White." Active as a historical fiction writer primarily in the 1930s through 1950s, White traveled in the same social circles as Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas. The collection consists of manuscripts and correspondence of Charles William White ("Max White"), including correspondence with Alice B. Toklas and Gertrude Stein.

This series contains manuscript materials for several of White's works of fiction and drama, including various manuscripts, copies, and drafts of his novels, short stories, and plays, occasionally in several versions.

Thomas J. Wertenbaker was a professor of history at Princeton from 1910 to 1936, serving as department chairman from 1928-1936.

Thomas Jefferson Wertenbaker was an American historian who taught at Princeton from 1910 to 1947. He was internationally recognized and wrote a number of important historical works. In 1947, he was president of the American Historical Association. His papers consist of Wertenbaker's works, correspondence, photographs, miscellaneous material, and printed matter.

Werner (pseudonym of Alexander Schifrin) was a Russian native who was exiled to Germany (1923-1933) and subsequently lived in France (1933-1939) and the United States (1940-1951). Consists of selected papers of Werner

Kurt Weitzmann left his native Germany in 1935 for Princeton where he spent the remainder of his life, at the Institute for Advanced Study as a permanent member (1935-1972) and as a professor in Princeton University's Dept. of Art and Archaeology (1945-1972). Included are personal and professional correspondence, related files, course outlines, lectures, manuscripts and notes for various published works, scrapbooks of clippings, and printed matter.

Consists primarily of the issue and correspondence files of the independent literary journal of the same name that was founded in 1943 by Warren Carrier, and co-edited and published from 1944-1999 by the husband and wife team of poet and former Princeton professor Theodore (Ted) and editor and author Renée Weiss. Also present in the collection are manuscripts of, and associated material from, eleven of Theodore Weiss's thirteen published books of poetry.

Consists of the almost complete files (1943-1999) of manuscripts submitted to the QRL for publication with the exception of a few issues from 1944, 1945, 1974-1977, and 1981 (see the Box/Folder listing for Boxes 1-26 for the specific issues not present in the collection). The majority of the issue files (Volumes I-XXXVIII) contain original typescripts for the poetry, short stories, articles, and reviews that were published. Only some of the typescripts are signed or include autograph corrections by the author, while others include editorial corrections. Some files also contain galley proofs in various forms. The box housing the David Schubert issue files (Volume XXIV, 1983) contains correspondence from Schubert, his friends, wife, and others who contributed material to the publication of this special volume. In addition, a small amount of author correspondence associated with the submitted manuscripts remains in the issue files. However, the bulk of the QRL correspondence is contained in Series 2. Consists of professional and personal correspondence, travel diaries and related ephemera, notebooks, writings, and files relating to the Quarterly Review of Literature (QRL) of editor and writer Renée Karol Weiss (1923-2021). Some materials relate specifically to Renée's husband, poet and professor Theodore Weiss (1916-2003).

Consists of the publishing and administrative records of Weidenfeld & Nicolson, a British publishing company founded by George Weidenfeld (1919-2016) and Nigel Nicolson (1917-2004), which specialized in literary fiction and nonfiction, with an emphasis on history, biographies and memoirs, books by world leaders and political figures, glossy illustrated books, travel guides, and reference books. The collection documents the operations of the firm from its establishment in 1948 through its sale in 1991, and also includes some later records from as recent as 2012 related to its continued operation as an imprint of the Orion Publishing Group.

The Warner Bros. Screenplays consists of a large collection of scripts for films produced by the Warner Bros. studio.

Arthur Cyrus Warner (1918-2007) was an activist in the gay liberation movement, focusing his efforts on legal reform to protect the civil liberties of the gay community. Warner's papers document his involvement in legal reform and other issues pertaining to gay rights. The papers largely consist of legislative and court documents about cases affecting gay civil liberties, and related memoranda, correspondence, and writings.

Galbraith Ward, Class of 1915, and Marquand Ward, Class of 1917, were both Princeton graduates who served and died in World War I. This collection consists of many letters and postcards they wrote to their childhood nurse, Margaret Heyerdahl, plus a photograph album compiled after their deaths.

The Wards used racial slurs to describe people in a few of their letters.

Consists of a small archive of files from English publisher and author Fredric Warburg (of Secker & Warburg).

This collection consists of correspondence, reports, articles, lectures, notes, and printed matter of American chemist, Everett Stanley Wallis, dating primarily from his tenure as Princeton professor of chemistry (1930-1965) and chairman of its biochemical sciences program, and as a research consultant for Merck & Co. of New Jersey and for other pharmaceutical companies.

Alexander D. Wainwright (Princeton Class of 1939) was an avid bookman and collector. He had a lengthy career at the Princeton University Library, serving as assistant university librarian for collection development and as curator of the Morris L. Parrish Collection of Victorian Novelists. His collection consists of of manuscripts, correspondence, drawings, and related material by and about Thomas Wolfe, the American novelist, playwright, and storywriter.

Consists of manuscripts of works by Thomas Wolfe, including "April, Late April" (original title "Noon in April"), "A Field in Flanders," and "Writing and Living," as well as others.

The collection contains edited typescripts and copies of Cuban writer Severo Sarduy's poems, essays, and translations, along with writings about Sarduy, interviews, notes, clippings, photographs, and other printed materials. Correspondence includes a group of postcards sent to Severo Sarduy and his partner François Wahl in the 1960s and 1970s from various European and Latin American writers and philosophers, including Roland Barthes, Alain Badiou, Reinaldo Arenas, Octavio Paz, and Jacques Lacan, and additional correspondence of French editor and structuralist François Wahl.

Ira Owen Wade (Princeton Class of 1924) was a professor of French in Princeton's Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. His collection consists of typescript of his writings on Voltaire, professional correspondence, research notes, and some student work.

Consists of papers of Mario Vitti, an Italian author, translator, and educator specializing in modern Greek literature. Included are letters (1947-1992) from Greek, Turkish, Italian, and other poets and authors, and manuscripts of Greek authors collected by Vitti.

This collection consists of materials collected by Dr. James R. Vitelli, an English professor at Lafayette College, during his research on American literary critic Van Wyck Brooks and American book designer Elmer Adler.

Jacob Viner (1892-1970) is considered one of the greatest economists of the twentieth century. His career was spent at the University of Chicago and Princeton University, and he also frequently served as an advisor to the United States government. His primary academic interests included international economics, international economic relations, and the history of economic thought, but his investigations ranged across many disciplines. Viner's papers document his scholarship, as well as his government service, and include correspondence, manuscripts, reports, and research materials.

The Biographical series includes awards, resumes and bibliographies, invitations, obituaries and tributes, photographs, and Viner's school papers.

Consists of correspondence and other materials collected by Mathieu-Guillaume-Thérèse Villenave relating to Alina d'Eldir, including her biography, her work with magnetism treatments, and the Ordre Asiatique de Morale Universelle.

Includes official documents from the United States War Department, the Department of Justice, the Department of Labor (Certificate of Naturalization), the United States Army, and the Armour Institute of Technology. There are also a few documents of close family members.

This series consists of Veremēs's official documents during his stay in the United States. Included also a bound volume and a few newspaper clippings in Greek.

The collection consists of manuscripts, writings, correspondence (both personal and professional), photographs, works of others, microfilm, printed material, and film reels, spanning more than 50 years, concerning Velikovsky's controversial ideas, the books that he wrote, and the history of opposition and criticism from the academic community that he received following the publication of his first book, Worlds in Collision, in 1950. Colleges and universities threatened to boycott the textbook division of the publisher, Macmillan & Co., which led to the transfer of the publishing rights to Doubleday & Co., even though the book had reached the number one spot on the best-sellers list. The book was eventually banned from a number of academic institutions, and several people lost their jobs because of it.

George "Bob" Vaughn, Jr., Class of 1919, was a decorated World War I pilot and a pioneer in the aviation field. The collection consists of newspaper clippings, scrapbook pages, photographs, filmed interviews, an autobiographical manuscript and other materials that document the life and aeronautical career of George Vaughn.

The Henry Van Dyke Family Papers consists of papers of three generations of the prominent Van Dyke family of New York and Princeton, beginning with Henry Jackson Van Dyke (1822-1891) and his wife, Henrietta [Ashmead] Van Dyke (1820-1893), followed by their children, Henry Van Dyke (1852-1933) and Paul Van Dyke (1859-1933), and ending with Henry van Dyke's son Tertius Van Dyke (1886-1958).

Consists of the works of Tertius Van Dyke, including "Henry Van Dyke, A Biography," "My Father as a Collector of Tennyson and Tennysoniana," and "A Visit to the Belgian Refugee Camp at Nunspeet," as well as others.

The collection illustrates the literary career of American author and professor Carl Van Doren, including typescripts and research notes for his Pulitzer Prize winning biography of Benjamin Franklin. The collection also contains various documents, including Van Doren's will, souvenirs, memorabilia, photographs, clippings, and printed material, as well as legal papers and correspondence dealing with his participation in several lawsuits involving copyright infringement.

Consists of papers of "Jan Valtin," the literary pseudonym of Richard Julius Herman Krebs.

The Nanos Valaōritēs Papers consists of the writings, notebooks, sketchbooks, correspondence, and printed matter relating to Pali of the Greek poet, novelist, playwright, and editor, Nanos Valaōritēs. There are also wtitings of other people.

Included are four original letters from Seferis to Valaōritēs dated from 1953 to 1962. There are also photocopies of many letters written by Valaōritēs to George Seferis and Geōrgios Katsimpalēs dated from 1947 to 1968. All letters are written in Greek.

The Helenē Vakalo Papers consists of papers by and relating to the Greek art critic and poet Helenē Vakalo (1921-2001). Included are autograph and typed manuscripts of Vakalo's poetry, lectures, articles, and essays, as well as her correspondence, notebooks, loose notes, and memorabilia. There are also official documents, photographs, awards, printed material, and several works by prominent Greek writers and artists. Of particular importance are the unpublished works and early manuscripts, as well as Vakalo's correspondence with her husband, painter, stage designer, art critic, and writer Giōrgos Vakalo, and with numerous distinguished artists and literary figures.

Consists of the poetry of Helenē Vakalo, including "Anamnēseis apo mia Ephialtikē Politeia," "Genealogia," and "Topeio Louomenōn," as well as others.

The Giōrgos Vakalo Papers consists primarily of papers by and relating to the Greek painter and stage designer George Vakalo (1902-1991). Included are autograph and typed manuscripts of Vakalo's notes, talks, articles, interviews, TV or radio productions, artwork, as well as his correspondence, notebooks, photographs, and printed matter, such as exhibition art catalogs, magazines, and clippings. Of particular importance are the hundreds pieces of his artwork in a variety of media (ink, pencil, watercolor, conté crayon, engravings) and on a variety of supports (paper, carton, and canvas).

Contains loose sketches in Indian ink and pencil.

Consists of book prospectuses, invitations, greeting cards, and other items printed by private and small presses in the United States, and various countries throughout the world.

The collection consists mainly of playbills, photographs, and clippings of press announcements and reviews of the University Players, a youthful group of Princetonians aspiring toward careers in the performing arts. Not entirely comprised of Princeton alumni and undergraduates, however, the organization provided experience and training for many hopefuls who have in fact succeeded in that goal. Taking its name from an earlier group with the same ambitions and who also made great contributions to American theatre and film, it provided the Princeton community with some exciting and meritorious summer theatre for more than a decade.

Princeton University's Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program was started in 1946 amidst a wave of enthusiasm for the ROTC that followed World War II. The collection consists of publications, bulletins, course materials, and manuals pertaining to the Navy ROTC program at Princeton.

Series 1: Princeton NROTC Records, 1948-1972 consists of publications, bulletins, course materials, and manuals pertaining to the Navy ROTC program at Princeton. Also included is a short written history of Navy activities at Princeton.

The Records of United Service to China, Inc., known from 1941 to 1946 as United China Relief, Inc., document the activities of the organization from the early formation in 1940 to its official consolidation with the American Bureau for Medical Aid to China in 1966. In addition there is a limited amount of material from other Chinese relief agencies that predate the founding of United China Relief / United Service to China. The Records focus on UCR/USC attempts to raise money in the United States, to educate Americans about China and the Chinese people, and to carry on relief work in China. The collection consists primarily of correspondence among the various individuals and agencies involved with UCR/USC, along with other material produced by the agency, such as minutes and publicity material. In addition, the collection includes a series of photographs dealing with China during the 1940s and efforts in the United States to raise money for China during the same period.

Richard Ullman (1933-2014) was a scholar of U.S. foreign policy and international affairs. The collection documents Ullman's career as an academic, his service with the U.S. State Department and the Council on Foreign Relations, and his process of researching and publishing the three-volume Anglo-Soviet Relations, 1917-1971.

These records are composed of mostly correspondence and subject files that were created in the course of Ullman's work as an academic, primarily at Princeton University, and in various other positions he held during his career, such as his term on the editorial board of The New York Times. The records also include some of Ullman's published articles and what appear to be notes and research prepared for lectures on European governments and foreign policies. Of note is Ullman's correspondence with well-known individuals in the field of foreign policy, particularly George Kennan.

This portion of the collection includes correspondence, reviews, and research materials that pertain to Ullman's first published scholarly work, the three-volume Anglo-Soviet Relations, 1917-1971.

Consists of the extant papers of James Ramsey Ullman (Princeton Class of 1929), American novelist, theatrical producer, world traveler, and mountain climber. Included are manuscripts of most of his major works, many shorter works, correspondence, and subject files.

Consists of manuscripts for articles such as "The Amazon Dream," "Christmas at Sirte," and "Tourist in the Antarctic," as well as others.

Karl S. Twitchell was an American mining engineer who conducted extensive surveys in the Middle East, Europe, and South America between 1915 and the 1950s. His papers document the span of his career, particularly his interest in the Middle East, and include correspondence, journals, notes, reports, writings, topical files, photographs, and maps. Personal documents and correspondence with family and associates are also contained.

Consists of personal papers of Kaiē Tsitselē, Greek author and translator, who contributed to the dissemination of the Modern Greek literature outside Greece. The collection consists of manuscripts of some of Tsitselē's novels, short stories, radio scripts, and book reviews along with her English translations of Greek works. Correspondence with her friends and colleagues completes the collection.

Includes typescripts of untitled early stories on pink paper with note "First Mss KC" together with a typescript beginning "The rubbish-gatherer tramped," which was published under the title the "Twilight in Athens" and the pseudonym Helen Diamantis in Orientations, 9 (Cairo, April 1943), 40-41. There is aslo an autograph manuscript draft of the story entitled "Decline" signed "K.C. 16.8.43," with later penciled note added by the author: "aged 15? perhaps my very first story - never published thank God" [this is not true since "Bread" and "Twilight in Athens" had already been published; carbon copies of the short stories: "Mother Nature" published in Paris Review, 6 (Summer 1954); "End of Season" or "The Proxy" dated October 1953 and published in Death of a Town (1954); "Orpheus in Hades" dated Sept. 17th, 1954 and published in The Atlantic, 195/6 (1955); "Journey into Language" published in International PEN Bulletin of Selected Books, 7/1 (Spring 1956), 3-8 and elsewhere; typescript of "A Carnival Masque" published in Envoy, London, Feb. 1956, 12-13, 23-24, 26; two typescripts of the story "Exposure" signed and dated April 7th, 1964, both bearing handwritten emendations and one the hanwritten note: "published only in Greek, I think Epoches certainly not in book form." There is also an autograph manuscript draft (undated) of the same story with croseed out title "The Removal." Included in the folder is a typescript of an original English text titled "Two Windows" by Tsitselē which was then translated by Lina Kasdaglē and published in journal Epoches, 35 (March 1966), 218-222; "The Ghost Goes East" (autograph note on first page reads: "This must be ancient - 1955/6/7?"); "The Parting of the Waters" dated 9.10.52 with handwritten corrections; a carbon copy of "Greek Awakening"; and an autograph manuscript of "A time to Say Goodnight," dated 14.9.54.

This subseries comprises stories written by Tsitselē.

Contains over 3000 manuscripts relating to the Rossetti's and their friends. While Dante Gabriel is the central figure, his brother and sisters (William Michael, Christina Georgina, Maria Francesca) are also represented, as are several other members of the Polidori/Rossetti families. The material in the collection was acquired by Janet (Camp) Troxell between 1930 and 1965.

Consists of letters to Gilbert Troxell from Sinclair Lewis, John O'Hara, and Carlotta Monterey O'Neill, the wife of Eugene O'Neill, discussing the donation of manuscripts to the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University.

Series 1: Student Correspondence and Writings Collection, 1769-2009 consists of materials integrated with the collection prior to 2011.

William C. Trimble, Princeton University Class of 1930, was a career diplomat, serving as United States ambassador to Cambodia (1959-1962) and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs (1965-1968) as well as serving in Brazil and Germany. The collection contains correspondence, speeches, newspaper clippings, photographs, and assorted memorabilia documenting Trimble's career.

Series 1, Correspondence, 1942-1968, is arranged chronologically, and consists primarily of carbon copies of letters Trimble sent, though there are some letters that he received. As he rose in rank, the volume of correspondence increases. Each posting created a different range of correspondents and concerns. In general, Trimble's correspondence is routine in nature. Primarily in English, some correspondence is in the local language of the country in which he served, specifically Spanish, Portuguese, German and French.

Consists of approximately 100 letters and postcards addressed to Trigueiros from seven correspondents: Jorge Amado (1967-1995), António S. Celestino (1973), Manuel Ferriera (1959-1966), Jesué Pinharanda Gomes (1960-1995), António Guedes de Amorim (1947-1971), Afonso Lopes Vieira (1935-1944), and José Rodrigues Júnior (1958-1987).

Ridgely Torrence was an American poet, playwright, and editor of The New Republic, and his papers document the literary activity and relationship of a large group of American writers between the years 1890 and 1950. Particularly well-represented are American poets William Vaughn Moody and Edwin Arlington Robinson.

Consists of manuscripts of Calvin Tomkins (Princeton Class of 1947) for his first novel, Intermission (1951).

Consists mainly of correspondence and manuscripts of Tobey (Princeton Class of 1940) from the period (1955-1976) when he was a member of the staff of the Turkish Ministry of Education in Samsun, Turkey, teaching English.

Series 1: Correspondence and Related Material contains general correspondence to and from (mostly to) Tobey while he was living and teaching in Samsun Turkey.

Conists of personal papers of William Tipping Esq, of Brasted Park, Sevenoaks, in Kent, and Avray near Paris. He was the son of the successful Liverpool merchant John Tipping, who in his twenties traveled extensively in Europe and the Middle East before turning to Tory politics and serving as director of the London and North Western Railway.

Includes correspondence between William Tipping and Edward Ford; one letter from Edward Ford to Isaac Taylor; one letter form William Tipping to Griffith; one letter from J. Holmes to John Tipping; one letter to John tipping fromn his cousin Th. Bewley (?); one letter from grandmother Fearon to Jane; two letters from unidentified senders (one in French); one letter from Anthony Titley to William Tipping (July 9, 1866); one letter from Henry Avaray Tipping to Joan (26.7.1921); a few letters sent to William Tipping from unidentified senders; one letter in Arabic.

This series consists of approximately one hundred and forty family letters, comprising some 450 pages, written on tours of Europe and the Middle East around 1840, several nicely illustrated. Includes a copius run of retained drafts of letters to Isaac Taylor, the publishers Houlston and Wright, Dr. Robert Trail, the painter Josiah Gilbert, and others, concerning publication of plates after drawings made on his tours. The present letters - many of which, written on large extended sheets of paper, are very long - display the élan of a young Englishman on the Grand Tour and provide the reader with a vivid view of Middle Eastern travel in the first half of the nineteenth century.

Margaret's papers (1917-1960) include writings, correspondence, journals, notebooks, and family sketchbooks and photographs.

Contains selected papers, photographs, and memorabilia of Arthur H. Thornhill, Jr., Princeton Class of 1946, pertaining to his publishing career at Little, Brown and Company and his involvement in a variety of organizations and activities within the publishing industry. Also present in the collection is a limited amount of material from Thornhill's father, Arthur H. Thornhill, Sr., who preceded his son as president of Little, Brown and Company.

These contain general correspondence with doctors, drafts and reprints of his essays and books, files of lectures, presentations, and awards, and files of scientific organizations with which he was involved. There are also drafts and reprints of early scientific papers (which pre-date his years at MSKCC).
