The L. Ashton Sly Collection of Musical Scores is a 137 volume collection of vocal scores and/or libretti for one hundred twenty-three musical comedies, comic operas, and operettas, including twenty-eight full production promptbooks. These are arranged alphabetically by title and housed in 8 record center cartons.

The Latinx Collective formed as an unofficial student organization in the fall of 2015 with the goal to support Latinx students on campus and encourage University administration to respond to the state of their lived and varied student experiences. The records include information about activism for the Princeton Latinx community, including meetings with administrators, town hall meetings, and proposal documents.

Arlene B. Gamio Cuervo is an undergraduate student in the Princeton Class of 2018. This collection contains applications, support letters, and planning documents created and used by Arlene B. Gamio Cuervo '2018 during the spring semester of 2016 in their proposal for an independent concentration in Latinx Studies.

This collection consists of correspondence of editor and essayist Laurence Hutton, reflecting a wide acquaintance among artistic, literary, and theatrical celebrities of the last quarter of the 19th century. In addition, the collection contains occasional manuscripts of some of the correspondents, miscellaneous autographs and clippings, and printed material.

Consists of over 300 letters by American drama critic Laurence Hutton to his long-time friend Edwin T. Evans (d. 1909?), who was general manager of Anchor Lines, Great Lakes shippers.

The Laurence Hutton Papers consists of materials of editor and essayist Laurence Hutton. Included are bound volumes, such as letterbooks (1868-1904), clippings of Hutton's contributions to the press, and several volumes of family photographs.

The Laurence Hutton Photograph Albums consists of several hundred photographs and numerous portraits of prominent 19th-century artists and literary, political, and historical figures, compiled by editor and essayist Laurence Hutton.

Consists of manuscripts, correspondence, contracts, and clippings of the literary agency Laurence Pollinger Ltd. relating to the firm's involvement with the literary estate of D. H. Lawrence.

This collection consists of two photograph albums and a typewritten memoir documenting Lauretta McDowell's six-month period of work as a cadet nurse at the Tacoma (Cushman) Indian Hospital on Puyallup land in Washington State. The albums include photographs of Puyallup and other Indigenous patients, as well as McDowell's fellow nurses and doctors.

Consists of selected correspondence and student account books of Lawrence Crane Woods, a member of the Princeton Class of 1891 and vice president and assistant manager for the Equitable Life Assurance Society.

Lawrence Rauch was a Princeton University graduate student (Ph.D. Mathematics, 1949) and a pioneer in the field of radio telemetry. The bulk of the collection consists of letters written home by Rauch during his time as a graduate student at Princeton from 1941 to 1949, which document Princeton academics and student life as well as Rauch's work in radio telemetry, and include references to his defense work for the United States government.

The Law Students Civil Rights Research Council (LSCRRC), founded in 1963, is a non-partisan organization dedicated to facilitating discussion on civil rights and providing research for civil liberties cases. In the early years, it worked to recruit support young law students who would then work with civil rights organizations in the south. The documents consist of minutes, correspondence, reports, pamphlets, notes, and briefs related to the LSCRRC. Through these materials the collection highlights the organization's growth, student protests and arrests, and activism in civil rights issues and lawsuits.

Consists of correspondence (1915-1919) of Gustave Fougères with scholars during his directorship at l'École française d'Athénes in Athens, Greece.

This collection contains over 600 sets of student notes taken from lectures given by members of Princeton's faculty. They represent the broad range of courses taught at Princeton University (known as the College of New Jersey prior to 1896) and include the works of numerous famous faculty and students.

Consists of selected letters and documents by and about members of the Lee family of Virginia. The Lee family is a historically significant Virginia political family, whose many prominent members are known for their accomplishments in politics and the military. They are descended from the Lees of Shropshire, England, and became prominent in colonial America when Colonel Richard Lee emigrated to Virginia and made his fortune in tobacco. Members of the family represented in this collection include Francis Lightfoot Lee (1734–1797) and Richard Henry Lee (1732–1794), both signers of the Declaration of Independence, Henry "Light-Horse Harry" Lee (1756-1818), and, most famously, Robert E. Lee (1807–1870), commander of the Confederate armies in the American Civil War.

Consists primarily of three hundred forty-six account sheets kept by American lawyer John Morin Scott (Princeton Class of 1805) covering his legal work in Philadelphia from June 1829 through March 1858.

John Lehmann was an English author, poet, journalist, editor, and publisher. His papers consist of letters from his literary friends, the correspondence of his family since the nineteenth century, manuscripts of his publications, financial and domestic files, and personal memorabilia.

Leland H. Jenks (1892-1976) was a professor of economics and sociology at Wellesley College, and also taught economic history at Columbia University. Jenks's papers document his research on the Cuban sugar industry and include his notes from interviews and a trip to Cuba, statistics, articles, and reports.

Consists of an open collection of manuscript material related to print collections of Leonard L. Milberg (Princeton Class of 1953): Leonard L. Milberg Collection of American Poetry, Leonard L. Milberg Irish Theater Collection, and the Leonard L. Milberg Collection of Jewish-American Writers.

Leo Paul Crespi was a leading public opinion researcher best known for his studies of U.S. prestige abroad. The collection consists primarily of Crespi's public opinion research files and his early research files on gambling addiction.

The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Alliance (LGBA), is the social and political organization for lesbian, gay, and bisexual students at Princeton University. The LGBA is the successor to the Gay Alliance of Princeton (GAP), Gay Women of Princeton (GWOP), the Lesbian and Bisexual Task Force (LBTF), and Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Princeton (GALAP). The records contain material regarding the LGBA's programs and its publications, as well as subject files assembled by the LGBA's officers and staff.

Contains approximately 175 letters by Sir Sydney Carlyle Cockerell, written after Cockerell's retirement as director (1908-1937) of the Fitzwilliam Museum, to Janet Troxell, an American collector of manuscripts, discussing, in part, William Morris, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the Kelmscott Press, and Cockerell's rare book and manuscript collections.

Consists of incoming letters to Michaēl Iatros, a Greek politician and merchant, from several merchants and philanthropists, and members of the clergy.

Consists of papers of journalist Levering Cartwright (Princeton University Class of 1926) relating to the association of "Death Valley Scotty" (Walter Scott, 1872-1954), an eccentric prospector, Wild West show entertainer, and hoaxer, with his friend and financier, Albert M. Johnson, an insurance company executive.

Consists of letterpress copybooks of letters (1899-1934) sent by the Philadelphia law firm of Lewis, Adler and Laws to its clients.

The collection consists of American electrical engineer and Princeton trustee Lewis B. Stillwell's engineering reports, correspondence, photographs, blueprints, maps, and printed matter. His professional correspondence relates to his work as an electrical engineer with several energy companies, while his personal papers contain material related to his service as a Princeton trustee.

Lewis Cass, a nineteenth-century senator from Michigan, had prominent roles in the administrations of Andrew Jackson and James Buchanan. This collection consists of selected correspondence, printed material, and ephemera of Cass.

The Lewis Center for the Arts was created in 2006 to serve as the organizational home of several of the University's academic programs, including creative writing, dance, music theater, theater, visual arts, and the Princeton Atelier. The records currently contain files of the Princeton Atelier, photographs of dance at Princeton, recordings of public lectures, and books to commemorate visual arts thesis shows.

Consists of correspondence of Lewis French Stearns (Princeton Class of 1867) from the American Civil War years. The letters shed light not only on general student life at the University in the mid-nineteenth century, but also on the local effects of the war--on the University, its students, and on the town of Princeton, N.J.

The Lewis Thomas papers consist primarily of files from the years (1973-1983) that Thomas (Princeton Class of 1933) spent as president and, later, chancellor, of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. These contain general correspondence with doctors, drafts and reprints of his essays and books, files of lectures, presentations, and awards, and files of scientific organizations with which he was involved. There are also drafts and reprints of early scientific papers (which pre-date his years at MSKCC).

Consists of an open collection of photographs by the Italian photographer L. Fiorillo.

The Liberty Loan Committee coordinated campaigns to sell U.S. Treasury bonds to the American public from 1917 to 1919 in order to fund United States involvement in World War I. The Committee was managed by the Federal Reserve. The Liberty Loan Committee Records document the four Liberty Loan and the Victory Loan campaigns and include advertisements, committee memoranda, forms and descriptions of the loans, and subscription information.

Contains the letters of Reinaldo Arenas and other Latin American authors to the French translator Liliane Hasson. Also includes copies of manuscripts by Arenas and others, photographs, and audio recordings of interviews with Latin American writers.

Consists of miscellaneous material of Lincoln Gilmore Smith, a physicist and professor of physics at Princeton University, relating to his construction and use of mass spectrometers.

The papers of Lincoln MacVeagh (1890-1972) relate to his diplomatic career as Minister to Greece (1933-1942) and Ambassador to the exiled Greek and Yugoslav Governments in Cairo (1943-1944) and his return to Athens as Ambassador to Greece (1944-1947). The papers contain typed transcripts of portions of diaries during much of the above described period (with the exclusion of personal and family matters found in the original diaries). The papers also contain copies of correspondence between Ambassador MacVeagh and President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1932-1945) from the National Archives and the Roosevelt Library as well as dispatches and telegrams from MacVeagh to the State Department (1933-1940) which relate primarily to political and diplomatic events in Greece and Yugoslavia.

Lindley M. Garrison (1864-1932) was a lawyer who served as Secretary of War for President Woodrow Wilson from 1913 to 1916. Garrison's papers document his service as Secretary of War and include correspondence, writings, and newspaper clippings.

The "Literary Landmarks of Princeton" Exhibition Collection consists of author files and miscellaneous materials related to the "Literary Landmarks of Princeton" exhibition curated by Alfred L. Bush in 1967. The exhibition chronicled works of fiction, drama, and poetry written in Princeton by over 100 authors from the early 18th century to the mid-1960s.

Consists of papers of Chinese journalist and political dissident Liu Binyan, including manuscripts, notes, drafts of speeches, reviews, correspondence, audiocassettes of interviews, and other material.

Livia Plaks was a co-founder of the Princeton-based Project on Ethnic Relations (PER) and served as executive director. This collection includes publications, correspondence, subject files and photographs created by Plaks relating to the PER.

Livingston T. Merchant was a diplomat and high-ranking government official. This collection consists of Merchant's papers, including correspondence, articles, notes, speeches, statements, interviews, clippings, printed matter, and personal papers.

This collection consists primarily of photographs taken by Rupert Potter (1832-1914), father of children's book author Beatrix Potter (1866-1944). It includes many portraits of Beatrix, of family members, and of friends. In addition, the collection includes studio portraits of Potter family members taken by various commercial photographers; a few photographs taken by Beatrix as aids for illustration; and photographs of animals and farmsteads in the Lake District related to Beatrix Potter Heelis' career as sheep farmer and land preservationist from the 1910s to 1940s.

The Lloyd E. Cotsen Papers consist of papers and personal items of Lloyd Cotsen's related to his time as an executive at Neutrogena Corporation, his art and book collection practices, his philanthropic contributions, his archaeological interests, and photographs shot by Cotsen. Items related to the production of Cotsen Occasional Press publications are also included. Material dates from 1949 to 2021.

Consists of typescripts and related material for American author Lloyd R. Morris's Not So Long Ago (1949) and William James (1950).

Consists of correspondence in French between Léon-François Hoffmann and Haitian poet René Depestre, including handwritten letters, faxes, and several other documents. Other additions include photocopies of correspondence between Haitian writer and politician Jacques Roumain and his wife Nicole Hibbert.

Lorenzo García Vega is a Cuban writer best known for his involvement in the literary group Orígenes. The collection consists of selected manuscripts, notebooks, correspondence and clippings.

Lorenzo Homar was a Puerto Rican artist specializing in print-making. The collection contains letters addressed to Homar, some requesting posters, and others with fellow artists. Correspondents include prominent figures in the art world.

The collection consists of contemporary documents pertaining to five of the lotteries held in the eighteenth century to raise funds for the colonial College of New Jersey. Also included is some secondary source material about the lotteries.

Louis Adamic was an author deeply concerned with American immigrants and their experiences in the "melting pot." This collection consists of papers of Adamic, including manuscripts of his books, short stories, articles, and lectures, as well as sketches, paste-ups, and proofs of Adamic's own journal T & T. Also included are correspondence, subject files, and works of other writers.

The collection consists primarily of a set of handcolored, topographical, manuscript maps (111 of them), created by Louis-Alexandre Berthier, an officer on General Rochambeau's staff, depicting the historic overland march of the French and American forces from Philipsburg, New York, to Yorktown, Virginia, in 1781 and their return march to Boston, Massachusetts, in 1782. Accompanying these maps is Berthier's journal (in French), providing a detailed description and explanation of the routes covered by the maps. In addition, there are documents and memoranda concerning French military events in America, Berthier's departure from France in 1780, and his return to France via the West Indies in 1782-1783.

Consists primarily of drafts, notes, fragments and final copies of American poet Louise Bogan's critical essays on modern literature, published in prestigious American journals. There are a few poetry manuscripts and even fewer pieces of correspondence.

The Louis Fischer Papers include correspondence, interviews, articles and notes, lectures and speeches, photographs, and audiovisual materials that document his life as a journalist, writer, and commentator on international affairs. They also include the papers of his wife, Bertha Markoosha Fischer, an author in her own right, as well as family correspondence and papers. In the latter part of his life Fischer was affiliated with of the Institute for Advanced Study (1959-1961) and Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs (1961-1969).

Louis Jefferson (1927-2006) served as John Foster Dulles's personal security guard for five years until Dulles's death in 1959. The collection is composed of scrapbooks created by Jefferson documenting his travels with Dulles.

Consists of twenty one letters from American author and critic Louis Kronenberger, mostly regarding his publication The Cutting Edge: A Collection of Witty Insults and Wicked Retorts, of Polished Snubs and Homicidal Repartee. Also included is manuscript material of The Cutting Edge, and biographical notes.

Louis Kronenberger was an American literary critic, novelist, and biographer. Contains correspondence with notable literary figures as well as editorial requests and drafts of Kronenberger's writings.

Louis O. Coxe (Princeton Class of 1940) was a noted twentieth-century poet, playwright, and critic. The collection contains autograph and typescript versions of Coxe's poetry and sixteen of Coxe's notebooks. Also included are materials for the play Billy Budd, such as notes, drafts, worksheets, galley proofs, and production notes.

Consists of approximately 110 letters by Louis O. Coxe (Princeton Class of 1940) to his former classmate, fellow poet, and friend William Meredith, primarily during the 1940s and 1970s.

This collection primarily consists of glass lantern slides of California collected by L. R. Higgins dating from the 1910s-1920s, and possibly from the 1930s. California locales and subjects include Pasadena and vicinity, Camp Baldy and vicinity, sequoias, Yosemite Valley, the High Sierras, the city and residences of Los Angeles, the Tournament of Roses, Spanish mission churches, the town of Riverside, colored slides of local semi-precious gemstones, and relief maps of California.

Consists of personal and professional correspondence between Lucius Hopkins Miller (Princeton Class of 1897), a professor in Princeton's Department of Religion, and Princeton colleagues, including Woodrow Wilson, fellow educators at other institutions, and publishers, such as Henry Holt.

Lucy Kleppel traveled from Evanston, Illinois to Miami in 1972 to volunteer at the Democratic National Convention. The collection consists of material she gathered there.

Consists of correspondence between Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello and the Italian actress Marta Abba, who spent much of her life interpreting his plays. Pirandello's forty-three plays, as well as other literary works, are discussed in the correspondence, which reveals the special "maestro-disciple" relationship shared by the couple.

Consists of approximately 100 letters and postcards addressed to Trigueiros from seven correspondents: Jorge Amado (1967-1995), António S. Celestino (1973), Manuel Ferriera (1959-1966), Jesué Pinharanda Gomes (1960-1995), António Guedes de Amorim (1947-1971), Afonso Lopes Vieira (1935-1944), and José Rodrigues Júnior (1958-1987).

The Lulu Glaser Papers contains various artifacts, letters, photographs, and other items belonging to Lulu Glaser, a popular singer and actress during the early 1900s. Glaser starred in a couple Broadway plays in the 1890s and later opened the Lulu Glaser Opera Company in 1900, where she produced a number of operas before retiring from performing in 1917. Collection includes materials relating to Glaser's many productions as well as offers insights into her personal life before and after retirement.

Luther P. Eisenhart taught mathematics at Princeton and was one of the original preceptors appointed in 1905 by Princeton University president Woodrow Wilson. The Luther P. Eisenhart Collection on Woodrow Wilson contains correspondence between Eisenhart and Woodrow Wilson, Eisenhart and others about Woodrow Wilson, letters received by Churchill Eisenhart, and miscellaneous Wilson-related ephemera.

Consists primarily of material relating to Ohio farmer Luzern Humphrey's overland journey from Kanesville, Iowa, to the Oregon Territory in 1852, his life there through 1853, and his return to Iowa in 1854, including his journal and 51 letters to his wife in Ohio. Also included are some papers relating to the family of William Miller, the founder of Adventism.

Consists of selected correspondence, manuscripts, and photographs of the nineteenth-century American author and abolitionist Lydia Maria Francis Child.

Lyman B. Kirkpatrick, Jr. served with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from its inception in 1947 until 1965. The papers document Kirkpatrick's career at the CIA, including his role as inspector general during the Bay of Pigs invasion, as well as his service in the U.S. Army and Office of Strategic Services during World War II, and his time as a professor of political science at Brown University.

Lyman Hotchkiss Atwater was a nineteenth century theologian and scholar. His papers include lectures, notes, published essays, printed matter, and some correspondence, as well as a volume of lecture notes from Atwater's son, Edward Atwater, and articles authored by various people for The Princeton Review.

Princeton professor of astronomy (1947-1982), chairman of the Dept. of Astrophysical Sciences, and director of the Princeton University Observatory, Lyman Spitzer was also primarily responsible for founding the University's Plasma Physics Laboratory. His papers include design studies, technical plans and programs, various reports, correspondence, notes, and observations relating to his involvement in the development of the study of space astronomy at Princeton.

Consists predominantly of nineteenth-century correspondence between members of the MacMartin family of New York and New Jersey.

Consists of postcards, photographs, wood engravings, memorabilia, and printed material collected by Robert Hopewell Hepburn relating to expeditions sent down to tropical South America in an attempt by the Brazilian government to construct a railroad along the Madeira River. Robert Hopewell Hepburn, a young engineer with the Pennsylvania Railroad System and a Princeton graduate of the Class of 1871, made the trip in 1878. He son undertook the same effort twenty-nine years later, sending back postcards to his father from Brazil.

Madison Smartt Bell (1957-) is an American novelist best known for his trilogy of novels about Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution, published between 1995 and 2004. His papers consist of writings, personal and professional correspondence, family documents, memorandum books, printed materials, and subject files, including drafts, galleys, and proofs for his novels, short stories, and other writings.

Consists of the original manuscripts (both holograph and typed) of Main Line: A Philadelphia Novel by American author, Livingston Biddle (Princeton Class of 1940).

Makoto Yasuda is the former chairman of Private Investment Company for Asia (PICA), an association of 243 North American, European, Japanese, Australian, and Canadian companies and banks. Based in Singapore, PICA funded new and existing private businesses throughout Asia, specifically in countries with tiger economies. The collection is comprised of PICA's annual and quarterly reports, investment proposals and reports on investment projects, and Board of Directors and Executive Committee meeting minutes and correspondence.

Consists of related correspondence, typescripts, editorial notes, and galley proofs for The Stories of F. Scott Fitzgerald, A Selection of 28 Stores, published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1951, which American author and critic Malcolm Cowley edited and introduced.

The Manuel Mujica Láinez Papers consists of the papers of the Argentinian novelist, short story writer, biographer, and essayist Manuel Mujica Láinez (1910-1984). These papers primarily contain correspondence he received from Argentinian and Spanish writers, as well as family correspondence. Also included are a few manuscripts by Mujica Láinez, several poems and nonfiction manuscripts by others, and a small amount of photocopied or printed material.

Consists of an open collection of manuscript maps. Included is the eastern section of the Mason-Dixon Line drawn by Charles Dixon and Jeremiah Dixon in 1768.

Marc Gaede (1946- ) is an American photographer, environmental activist, and teacher based in California. The collection consists of Gaede's black-and-white photographs of the American West and Southwest, correspondence, contracts, and other working files primarily related to his books on photography, archaeology, and conservation, and a large group of working files, which include audiovisual and digital materials, for a biography project Gaede collaborated on with Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux activist Robert Sundance (1927-1993).

Marcus Lester Aaron was a member of the Class of 1920, the president of the Homer Laughlin China Company, and a member of the Rodef Shalom Congregation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Marcus Lester Aaron Correspondence collection primarily contains letters written from Aaron to his parents in Pittsburgh during his four years as an undergraduate at Princeton University from October 9, 1916 to June 9, 1920.

The collection consists of the editorial files and personal papers of Margaret K. McElderry. Publisher files include editorial correspondence, legal documents, and production files related to specific authors and publications.

Dr. Margaret Snyder was actively involved in women's economic and development issues in various regions of the world for more than three decades. She served as advisor to Kenya and East African Women's Seminars, Regional Advisor of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, Vice President of the Sirleaf Market Women's Fund, co-founded the African Training and Research Center for Women, and was the Founding Director of the United Nations Development Fund for Women. The papers document Dr. Snyder's career, the organizations she worked for, and the projects conducted to help women across the globe.

Consists of photographer Margaretta K. Mitchell's working files on the life and work of Ruth Bernhard (1905-2006), a German-born American photographer known for her black-and-white still lifes and female nudes. The working files contain research materials, drafts, and recordings and transcripts of interviews for Mitchell's biography of Bernhard, Ruth Bernhard: Between Art and Life (2000); drafts of Mitchell's essays that appeared in Ruth Bernhard's book The Eternal Body (1986); as well as correspondence, proofs, financial documents, and publicity materials related to both projects.
