The Papers of Others About Woodrow Wilson Series consists of groups of papers collected by others about Woodrow Wilson. The collectors include writings, correspondence, documents, and photos collection by family (Stockton Axson, Eleanor Wilson McAdoo, and Margaret Wilson), along with writings such as reminiscences, theses, or dissertations on Wilson and correspondence collections on Wilson (Wilson Farrand, McMillan Lewis, William McCombs). Also included in this series is the Henry Bragdon Collection of Reminiscences (made up of interviews and correspondence on Wilson), papers of Laura Turnbull, the Curator of the Woodrow Wilson Collection, on her work for Woodrow Wilson: A Selected Bibliography of his Writings, Addresses, and Public Papers, and some files of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. Finally, the series includes the papers of Charles L. Swem, Wilson's stenographic secretary, including shorthand notebooks, transcriptions of speeches, correspondence, and interviews recorded from 1912-1921, as well as photographs, and documents, divided into sections on Wilson and on personal topics, and a collection of newspaper clipping scrapbooks on Wilson from the Woodrow Wilson Foundation and individuals.
The Biographical series includes correspondence, notes, clippings, and articles regarding awards received by Hirschman and his scholarly activities, as well as interviews, biographical clippings, papers on the Institute for Advanced Study, and a few photographs. The scholarly activities documented in this series are Hirschman's travels throughout the world, largely to Latin America, for research trips, to attend conferences, and to give lectures.
The Research Materials series contains materials collected by Hirschman as he conducted his research. The majority of the series is composed of photocopies and offprints of articles and reports, as well as some newspaper clippings, about Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Latin America in general. These papers cover a range of economic, social, and political issues, providing views of the conditions in each country and the region. The series also includes articles about political theories, philosophies, and world economic and political history, and Hirschman's notes from his travels to Latin America.

Hirschman and Kalmanoff, Economic Consultants documents Hirschman's work as a private economic consultant with George Kalmanoff in Bogotá, Colombia from 1954 to 1956. The majority of the papers are related to their work evaluating markets for different companies and the financial situation of the Cali municipality. The papers include reports, memoranda, data, and correspondence, as well as notes on the conditions in, and their travels through, Latin America.
Latin American Economy Study is composed of materials from Hirschman's research while he was at Columbia University. This work culminated in the publication Journeys Toward Progress: Studies of Economic Policy-Making in Latin America (1963). The papers include bibliographies, correspondence, contact information, interview notes, and topical materials about economic conditions. The interviews were conducted with government officials, university faculty, officers at international banks, and others about different aspects of the economic conditions in their country. The papers also include two boxes of note cards which contain Hirschman's notes on publications about the countries.

The Research Projects series documents five of Hirschman's projects: his work as a consultant in Colombia, for the Inter-American Federation, and for the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, research he conducted in Latin America, and his work for the World Bank. The papers include notes and data, correspondence, and reports. Also included are Hirschman's field notebooks, which record his observations as he worked.

The majority of the Writings series is composed of materials related to articles and books written by Hirschman, including offprints and drafts of articles, correspondence, reviews, research materials, and notes. The books include Exit, Voice and Loyalty, The Passions and the Interests, and Shifting Involvements. The subject of his writings is predominantly economic development in Latin America and throughout the world, and also includes economic policies, industrialization, inflation, and trade. The series also contains speech materials from Hirschman's tenure as economist for the Federal Reserve Board, papers and correspondence sent to Hirschman by other scholars to solicit his review and some of his reviews of their work, and papers written by Hirschman during his education.
This series is composed of Hirschman's writings, reviews of his book The Strategy of Economic Development (1958) in various languages (including German, Italian, Portuguese, and English), and a research file of correspondence, memoranda, and reports pertaining to agricultural development efforts in Colombia by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in the 1950s. Also of note is the Federal Bureau of Investigation file on Hirschman that was requested by Jeremy Adelman in 2006 under the Freedom of Information Act. Annotations of the FBI file on Post-it notes are Adelman's.
Correspondence consists of correspondence spanning the years 1944-1955, including personal and business correspondence. It includes documentation between George McGovern and his dissertation advisor, Arthur Link, as well as other university officials concerning McGovern's studies of History at Northwestern University, including graduate funding and the submission of his dissertation. The subseries also contains correspondence between members of the South Dakota Farmers Union.
Statements and Publicity contains statements as well as press clippings documenting George McGovern's early political activities. The early press clippings are centered around public events and politicians in South Dakota, especially Republican congressman Karl Mundt. Later clippings document George McGovern's early public appearances and political activities. The subseries also contains a small number of early speeches by McGovern on the anniversary of the Ludlow massacre, Christianity and Communism, and on the state of the Democratic party in the Dakotas.
The Early Activities series documents George McGovern's early years from 1939 to 1955, before he held public office. It contains information on his military service as a B-24 pilot during World War II as well as his early political activities in South Dakota. The series includes correspondence, statements, schedules, and press clippings. Of special interest are maps and photographs documenting McGovern's WWII bombing tours in Europe.

This series documents George McGovern's activities as the director of the Food for Peace Program (1961-1962) and United States Senator (1962-1980). Of special interest are files documenting McGovern's activities as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Indian Affairs of the Senate Committe on Interior and Insular Affairs (1967-1972) and as Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs (1969-1970, 1973-1977) and its successor, the Subcommittee on Nutrition of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry (1978-1980). In addition, the series contains documentation pertaining to McGovern's activities as chairman of the Subcommittee on Agricultural Credit and Rural Electrification (1971-1976) and the Subcommittees on South Asian Affairs (1973-1974) and Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs (1975-1977). The series includes legislation and policy files, statements, schedules and invitations, travel files, patronage files, and constituent correspondence.

The Administrative Files series contains records pertaining to the business operations of Development and Resources Corporation (D). The majority of the series is composed of the files of several officers of D, including John G. Burnett, Gerald M. Levin, David E. Lilienthal, John Oliver, and Jonathan L. Swift. The officer files contain correspondence, memoranda, and reports about managing D and its projects, including negotiating the language of contracts, finances and personnel, project progress updates to the country governments, and materials documenting the perception of D in the media. Lilienthal's files are largely composed of his memoranda on the purpose of D, as well as monthly status reports on the company's finances and performance and discussions of future D leadership. The series also includes records of several D offices, predominantly in Bangkok and Saigon. The records include financial reports, information on current and potential projects in the region, reports on conditions in their country, and correspondence on the coordination of project staff, the arrival of D officers, and writing reports to the country governments. Additionally, the series includes correspondence, policy and financial records, and topical files about several countries and similar projects conducted by other organizations.
