The Subject Files series contains reports, briefing books, memoranda, publications, and correspondence, primarily dating from Paul Volcker's tenures as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and chairman of the Federal Reserve. To a lesser extent, there are materials generated during Volcker's term as undersecretary of the Treasury. The series also includes some materials created by Alfred Hayes, Volcker's predecessor as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
This series consists of four boxes of records from the Independent Committee of Eminent Persons (also known as the Volcker Commission), which investigated bank accounts in Swiss banks that had remained dormant since World War II. The series also includes one box containing a phone log book and materials related to Volcker's service on boards or in advisory capacities with various organizations.
