This collection provides the most basic source of information about Princeton University's governing body. In addition to minutes of the Trustees' meetings, the collection contains related papers and reports, organized according to purpose.

Bob Guldin is a writer and editor, who writes about public policy, foreign affairs and nonprofit advocacy. These records include recordings of two interviews with George F. Kennan and subsequent publications from which they resulted.

Founded in 1895, the Booksellers' League of New York was an organization aimed at promoting a professional and collaborative spirit among members of the book trade. The bulk of the collection consists of meeting minutes of the annual meetings and Board of Managers meetings, 1895-1932 (5 vols.) and of materials relating to the League's monthly dinners and other social events, 1901-1958 (invitation cards, programs, menus, handbills, and related membership mailings).

Consists of 42 letters by novelist Booth Tarkington to Mildred and Madeleine Burrage, friends that he and his wife made in Kennebunkport, Maine.

Consists of extensive writings -- novels, plays, short stories, articles, film scenarios, radio scripts -- and correspondence of "The Gentleman from Indiana" Booth Tarkington, noted American author and winner of the Pulitzer Prize.

The collection consists of correspondence and documents of various members of the Boudinot family of New Jersey, regarding family, business, and political affairs. Most of the correspondence is related to Elias Boudinot IV (Trustee of Princeton University, 1772-1821) and his brother Elisha but many other family members are also represented.

As part of his senior thesis Brandon D. Holt, Class of 2015, conducted a series of oral history interviews detailing black student activism. The collection consists of the transcripts from eight interviews with black alumni from the classes of 1969-1981.

The Brandt & Brandt Contract Files consists primarily of contract files from Brandt & Brandt, the New York City literary agency, for published works where the rights have reverted to the author. Some represented authors are Margaret Banning, Bessie Brewer, Raymond Chandler, Carlos Fuentes, Arthur Machen, Mary McCarthy, Derek Patmore, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Wallace Stegner. The Fuentes material (1967-1995) is extensive and covers a fuller range of literary agency activities.

The cordéis or Brazilian chapbooks included in this collection were published between 1970 and 1990. Many of the items are undated.

This microfilm contains pamphlets on Brazilian literature and criticism published in Brazil between 1916 and 1991.

This microfilm contains poetry pamphlets by Brazilians issued between 1948 and 1998.

Consists of selected manuscript and typescript drafts, notebooks, and notes, of 20th-century Irish author Brendan Behan (1923-1964), as well as some correspondence and ephemera. The papers constitute the principal archives of the manuscripts of Behan's writings.

Brooke R. Stoddard, Class of 2005 is a member of the University Press Club (UPC), who wrote a senior thesis about the history of the UPC in 2005. The collection contains correspondence and interviews with Princeton UPC alumni that Stoddard used for his research, as well as copies of clippings and printed materials.

Brooks Bowman '36 is best remembered as the composer of the songs "East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)" and "Love and a Dime." The Brooks Bowman Papers consist of correspondence and photographs that document his school years and his foray into the music industry. The bulk of the papers consist of Bowman's correspondence with his mother, sister, and numerous friends.

The papers of Brooks Emeny (1901-1980, Class of 1924) consist of two separate collections: a collection of 28 boxes which he donated to Princeton University (Manuscripts Collection 047) and a bequest of 54 boxes to the Woodrow Wilson School of Princeton University (AM 16540). Brooks Emeny, author and lecturer, was a member of the advisory council of the Woodrow Wilson School 1957-1980.

Consists of correspondence files of Harold Loeb (Princeton Class of 1913), one of the founding editors of Broom, An International Magazine of the Arts.

Bruce and Beatrice Blackmar Gould were co-editors at the Ladies' Home Journal in the mid 20th century. Bruce Gould also worked with the Saturday Evening Post. Their correspondence includes letters between Bruce and Beatrice about their co-editorship and co-authorship, letters with writers for the Ladies' Home Journal, and letters from actresses about the Ladies' Home Journal. Also included is a collection of letters about Marion Crawford's book The Little Princesses, some of Beatrice's speeches, speeches by others, and printed matter.

Consists of thirteen notebooks compiled by American biographer Allison Williams Bunkley while in South America doing research for his book The Life of Sarmiento (1952).

The Bureau of Student Placement was an administrative office at Princeton University that operated roughly from 1945 to 1953 and acted as a liaison between the various armed services and the Princeton University community. The records consist of army, navy, and marine corps plans for colleges, card files containing information about students in the service, and the correspondence of director Gordon G. Sikes which includes letters to and from servicemen, military officials, and other University administrators.

Business Today was founded as a magazine by Steve Forbes, Michael Mims, and Jonathan Perel in 1969 while they were undergraduate students at Princeton. This collection is the full run of the publication.

The Butler Family Papers consists of works, notes, correspondence, journals, photographs, and other materials of Benjamin Franklin Butler (1795-1858), William Allen Butler (1825-1902), Mary Russell Marshall Butler (1827-1919), Charles Henry Butler (1859-1940), Harriet Allen Butler (1861-1914), and other members of the Butler family.

Consists of manuscript copies of Greek inscriptions from Orthodox churches, monasteries, and icons in Greece, Asia Minor, the Greek islands, and Serbia that were compiled in the late 19th and early 20th century by the Greek epigrapher Giorgios Lampakes (Gēorgios Lampakēs).

The Calvin S. Hathaway Collection consists of correspondence (especially with Florence C. Quinby), photographs, postcards, offprints, slides, and newspaper clippings of American Curator Calvin S. Hathaway (Princeton Class of 1930) relating to his collection on equestrian statues of the world.

The Cameron Family Papers consist primarily of the correspondence and writings of former Princeton University professors Henry Clay Cameron (1827-1906) and his son, A. Guyot Cameron (1864-1947), with some correspondence relating to Henry C. Cameron's wife, Wilhelmina "Mina" Louise Cécile Chollet (1832-1908). There is also a significant amount of Cameron family photographs as well as some documents, printed matter, and ephemera relating to Princeton University. Famed Swiss-American geologist, geographer, and Princeton professor Arnold Henry Guyot (1807-1884), a relative of the Cameron family through marriage, is also represented in the collection through classroom maps, correspondence, a journal, and printed articles and lectures by and about Guyot. Most of the materials in the collection are professional in nature.

Consists of papers of Captain John Matthews (d. 1798), a British naval officer involved in the transatlantic commerce in enslaved Africans in Sierra Leone in the 1780s and 1790s. Four detailed journals document Matthews's employment as an agent for the African Company of Merchants between 1785 and 1787; as captain of the HMS Vulcan and the HMS Courageux in the Mediterranean Sea during the 1793 campaigns of the French Revolutionary Wars; and as captain of the HMS Maidstone, a British patrol ship monitoring trade in Sierra Leone and the Caribbean in 1797 and 1798. Also present are watercolor illustrations of colonial forts along the West African coast and several personal and family documents of John Matthews, including an anti-abolitionist deposition Matthews gave regarding the slave trade.

Consists of large color boards that were originally displayed in shop windows. Most of the cartoons comment on foreign policy issues during World War I.

Established in the late 1970s, the Carl A. Fields Center for Equality and Cultural Understanding (called the Third World Center until 2002) celebrates, acknowledges, and promotes diversity on the Princeton University campus. The collection documents the Carl A. Fields Center's programs and administration over a period of thirty years.

Educator and advocate of minority education Dr. Carl A. Fields, the first African American to hold a high-ranking position at an Ivy League school, was appointed Assistant Director of Student Aid and then Assistant Dean of the College at Princeton before serving in other leadership positions outside the University. The Carl A. Fields Papers consist of correspondence, reports, research material on race relations and minority education, handwritten notes, project proposals, and other papers that document his life and career.

Consists primarily of Carlos Baker's working papers and biographical files used in preparation of his biography Ernest Hemingway: A Life Story (1969). This was the fourth book on Hemingway written or edited by Baker (1909-1987), a Princeton professor and author. Also present are manuscripts for a novel and book of poetry by Baker, unrelated to his work on Hemingway.

The Carlos Franqui Collection contains works and correspondence of Cuban journalist, poet, and essayist Carlos Franqui, who moved to Europe in 1968 after becoming dissatisfied with Castro's Cuban regime. Included are manuscripts for Diario de la Revolucion Cubana (1976), Cuba, Libro de los Doce (1977), and Retrato de Familia con Fidel (1981) concerning the Cuban revolution of 1959 and Franqui's association with Fidel Castro.

The Carlos Fuentes Papers consists of personal and working papers of Fuentes (1928-2012), Mexican author, editor, and diplomat, including notebooks, manuscripts of novels and novellas, short stories, plays, screenplays, nonfiction writings, speeches and interviews, translations of fiction and nonfiction, correspondence, juvenilia, drawings, documents, photographs, audiocassettes, videocassettes, papers of others, scrapbooks, clippings, and printed material.

Consists of correspondence between author Carlos M. Luis and some members of Grupo Orígenes, an association of intellectuals in Cuban culture founded in 1944.

The collection illustrates the literary career of American author and professor Carl Van Doren, including typescripts and research notes for his Pulitzer Prize winning biography of Benjamin Franklin. The collection also contains various documents, including Van Doren's will, souvenirs, memorabilia, photographs, clippings, and printed material, as well as legal papers and correspondence dealing with his participation in several lawsuits involving copyright infringement.

Consists of writings, correspondence, and other personal papers of Caroline Newton (1893-1975), an American translator, writer, psychoanalyst, and collector, including a group of family papers related to the Churchill and Jerome families. The majority of the materials relate to Thomas Mann, of whom Newton was a close friend and supporter, though some others pertain to her activities related to psychoanalysis as well as book and manuscript collecting.

Carol Pitchersky (1947-2004) was a fundraiser and consultant who helped bring financial stability to dozens of public interest groups, notably the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). She served as Associate Director in charge of development and strategic planning at the ACLU and as a consultant to other prominent nonprofit organizations. The papers document Pitchersky's work as a fundraiser at the ACLU during the 1980s and for public interest groups in the 1970s and 1990s.

Consists, primarily, of a life-long series of correspondence between Carter Godwin Woodson, founder of the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, and Charles H. Wesley, African-American historian and college president.

Catherine Benedict Class of 2020 was a history major who conducted these interviews between 2019-2020 for their senior thesis: The Re-Emergence and Development of Greek-Letter Organizations at Princeton University, 1981-1991.

This collection contains materials published and distributed by various Catholic Church organizations in Cuba.

Consists of lists with drawings of cattle brands recorded in Contra Costa County, Calif. (1852), Buenos Aires, Argentina (1854), and Italy (1600s); records of military brands used for horses during the Mexican Revolution (1913); a letter (1932) from the Cattle Sanitary Board of New Mexico regarding a brand application; receipts for sale of cattle (1865) in Steilacoom, Washington Territory; and samples of brands burned into hide, leather, and wood.

Christian Bernard Shea was a member of the Princeton Class of 1916 and an avid supporter of Princeton athletics. The collection consists of Princeton University athletics statistics and newspaper clippings compiled by C. Bernard Shea between approximately 1901 and 1960.

Consists chiefly of correspondence of Cecil Beaton, English fashion and portrait photographer and Academy Award winning stage and constume designer for film and theater, with his author friend Hal Burton.

Chalmers Benedict Wood joined the Foreign Service after serving in World War II and held positions in several embassies as well as working in the State Department. These papers include writings, correspondence, clippings, and State Department documents from his time as a Foreign Service Officer in Vietnam in 1967-1969.

The Chalmers W. Alexander Letters contain correspondence from Chalmers Alexander (Princeton Class of 1932) to his mother during his attendance at Princeton University from 1928 to 1932. Approximately 500 letters were written during this time period; schedules, report cards, and church calendars are also included.

Chandler & Company was a New York investment banking house with offices in New York and Philadelphia. The Company issued bonds for many companies and countries, including Bolivia, China, Costa Rica, and Germany. Chandler & Company's records document the company's investment decisions in Germany, as well as Bolivia and Costa Rica, during the early 1920s and include correspondence and meeting minutes.

Channing Pollock was a playwright, journalist, and lecturer. The correspondence deals primarily with two of his most famous plays, The Fool and The Enemy.

Consists chiefly of typescripts of plays written by Pollock over a forty-year period but includes sheet music of songs containing his lyrics, playbills, and printed matter.

Charles A. Lindbergh and Anne Morrow Lindbergh were a famous twentieth-century aviation couple. The papers consist of manuscripts of Charles's A Letter to Americans and Anne's The Wave of the Future, A Confession of Faith, with related correspondence.

The Papers of Charles A. Eaton (1868-1953), congressman from New Jersey, focus on Eaton's role as a delegate to the United Nations Conference in San Francisco, in 1945.

Consists of photographs, newspaper clippings, cartoons, and printed ephemera related to World War I, compiled by Charles Munn (1859-1924), publisher and editor of Scientific American.

Contains letters and postcards between Charles Bonney and his wife Cora while Charles was travelling in the American West.

Consists of manuscript grammar books and a dictionary documenting an artificial language called Oidapa (Oïdapa, Oīdapa) that was invented by French civil engineer Charles-Antoine Chancerel in the late 19th century.

The Charles Black Hutchinson Papers primarily include Charles Hutchinson's correspondence and schoolwork from the period 1935 to 1944, when Hutchinson was a student at the Lawrenceville School (1935 to 1939), at Princeton University (1939 to 1943), and serving in the Army's 681st Glider Battalion (beginning in 1943).

The Charles Carroll Marden Collection of Spanish Documents consists of 637 Spanish documents, collected by philologist and university professor Charles Carroll Marden. The documents are divided into two groups: documents originating from the town of Burgos and several towns around Soria and documents from the town of Alarcon. Later additions to the collection include the earliest document in the collection, dated 1347.

Charles Conrad Abbott (1843-1919), American naturalist and author, was the first archaeologist to dig a historic site in New Jersey. This collection consists of diaries, correspondence, newspaper articles, essays, photographs, and other material, relating to his work and his family.

Consists of the working papers used by Charles Coulston Gillispie while researching his book The Montgolfier Brothers and the Invention of Aviation, 1783-1784 (1983).

Consists of seventy letters sent by Charles Edward Kloeber to author Margaret Emerson Bailey from different countries where Kloeber was working as a correspondent for the Associated Press of America.

Consists primarily of original artwork created by Charles E. Fehon, Princeton Class of 1950, during the process of designing sets and costumes for Princeton theater groups including Theatre Intime, University Players, and the Triangle Club.

A former lawyer in St. Louis, Missouri, Minton moved to New Mexico to work among the Indians. His subsequent positions include State Supervisor of the Writer's Program of the Works Progress Administration, Executive Director of the State Commission on Indian Affairs, and Executive Secretary of the New Mexico Association on Indian Affairs. Consists of correspondence and papers of Minton.

Consists primarily of letters to American author/inventor Charles Felton Pidgin relating to his study of Aaron Burr (1756-1836).

Charles F. W. McClure (Princeton Class of 1888) was a professor in the Princeton University Department of Biology. His papers consist of letters from numerous biologists and anatomists. Also included are some of McClure's writings, research and teaching files, diaries, and photographs.

Consists of thirteen letters from Charles Gillispie (1918-2015) home to his parents, Raymond Livingston Gillispie and Virginia Coulston, while he was stationed with the United States Army in France, Germany, and Austria during the final months of World War II in Europe. His letters, which span from March 9th to August 25th, 1945, are addressed from France, Germany, Austria, Bavaria, and Camp Shelby in Mississippi, and describe the conditions for American soldiers and prisoners of war in Europe, the state of the people and infrastructure in the German and French countryside, and other topics.

The Charles Godfrey Leland Collection consists of writings, correspondence, and miscellanea of the American editor, humorist, essayist, and folklorist Charles Godfrey Leland (1824-1903).

Charles Greene Rockwood was a professor of mathematics from 1877 to 1905 at Princeton Unviersity, and had many interests in seismology and general scientific study. Consists of scrapbooks of newspaper clippings, letters, notes, and printed matter compiled by Charles Greene Rockwood, relating to earthquakes, tidal waves, volcanos, and unusual astronomical occurrences.

Consists of works, correspondence, documents, photographs, memorabilia, family papers, scrapbooks, and an autograph book (1880) of Charles Grosvenor Osgood, reflecting his role as one of Woodrow Wilson's original preceptors (1905) and the importance of the preceptorial system at Princeton. The collection contains typed manuscripts of Osgood's lectures on Milton, Spenser, and Samuel Johnson, addresses and note cards, and professional correspondence.

Consists of journals kept by Princeton geology professor Charles Henry Smyth, from 1905 until his retirement in 1934.

Author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book The American Revolution (1923), Charles H. McIlwaine (Princeton Class of 1894) was a professor of history and government at both Princeton (1905-1910) and Harvard University (1926-1946). His papers include notes, lectures, and other miscellaneous personal papers.

Consists primarily of the personal papers of Hodge, including lectures, speeches, articles, books an correspondence dealing with questions of Presbyterian theology in the mid and latter nineteenth century. The papers reflect Hodge's lifelong association with the Princeton Theological Seminary (PTS).
