This series is predominately composed of research materials such as notes, articles and papers, interview transcripts, correspondence, and audiovisual media that were created or collected by Oberdorfer for various writing projects. Most of the materials pertain to Oberdorfer's biography of Senator Mike Mansfield or to Oberdorfer's interest in Korea, including some materials specifically related to his book The Two Koreas: A Contemporary History. Correspondence with Oberdorfer's publishers and promotional materials for these books are also present.

This series is largely comprised of minutes, memorandums, correspondence, financial and departmental reports, legislative updates, and other materials related to the meetings of the Board of Trustees and the National Advisory Council (NAC). To a lesser extent, it includes the records of select committees, especially the bylaws committee.

The Microfilm Subseries contains correspondence, documents, newspapers, and writings of Wilson and others which had been microfilmed by various repositories and purchased by the editorial staff for reference and inclusion in the Papers of Woodrow Wilson Project. Repositories from which significant amounts of reels were purchased include the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the London Public Records Office, Princeton University, and Yale University. This subseries is closely related to Subseries 1C: Miscellaneous Photocopies, in that similar types of materials are included in both subseries, although there is little or no overlapping content.

The Photographs and Audio-Visual Series consists of photographs, microfilm, and sound recordings gathered by the editorial staff of the Papers of Woodrow Wilson. The photographs provide a visual complement to the papers gathered in this collection, and many were published throughout the 69 volumes of Wilson papers. The microfilm consists of reels ordered from repositories throughout the country and around the world, containing correspondence to and from Wilson, as well as reports from his administration, diaries, newspapers, and papers of individuals related to Wilson. The audio contains recordings of radio programs and seminars on the topic of Wilson, as well as some of his speeches.

The Administrative Files series documents the founding and operations of the WPFC, including minutes of the Biennial meetings and Executive Committee meetings, press releases, annual reports (entitled "What We Did"), and correspondence, notably letters in protest of violations of freedom of the press and "fan mail" from individuals appreciative of the efforts of the WPFC. The series also contains copies of WPFC publications, including handbooks for journalists, reports, working papers, and lecture series, as well as publicity pamphlets for the WPFC and WPFC histories, declarations of free press, and amicae briefs. Also included are recordings of television appearances by WPFC members and of conferences, and materials related to International Press Freedom Day, begun in 1991 by UNESCO.

The Projects series documents several projects that the WPFC was involved in, including code words on phrases used to mask censorship practices in the post Cold-War era, the Coordinating Committee of Free Press Organizations and their Fund Against Censorship grants program, the Eastern European Aid Project, and the WPFC's media assistance program. The records predominantly include applications, meeting minutes, reports, and statements, as well as correspondence and related articles. The series also includes files of project proposals with related correspondence on if the proposal was accepted and background materials on the projects.
