Consists of the publishing and administrative records of Weidenfeld & Nicolson, a British publishing company founded by George Weidenfeld (1919-2016) and Nigel Nicolson (1917-2004), which specialized in literary fiction and nonfiction, with an emphasis on history, biographies and memoirs, books by world leaders and political figures, glossy illustrated books, travel guides, and reference books. The collection documents the operations of the firm from its establishment in 1948 through its sale in 1991, and also includes some later records from as recent as 2012 related to its continued operation as an imprint of the Orion Publishing Group.

Consists of research material, notes, outlines, drafts, galleys, and proofs. Yellow legal notepads contain notes, early draft material, and inserts for later typed and printed versions. Notepads are identified by their first lines, though a single notepad may contain a variety of material, including material relating to other works, correspondence drafts, and other unrelated notes. Corrected typescript and printout drafts often show significant revisions. Material from various stages of the publication process is present, including setting copies with copy-editor's and typesetter's marks, galleys, page proofs, F (folded-and-gathered pages, in signatures but not yet bound), blueline proofs ("confirmation blues"), advance copies (bound uncorrected proofs, pre-publication, often used for book reviewers) and production/design material with page and dust-jacket samples. Page numbers are noted for paginated material.

The Council has had a significant impact in the development of twentieth century United States foreign policy. The Records of the Council on Foreign Relations document the history of the organization from its founding in 1921 through the present. The collection includes valuable source documents and records of the meetings, group discussions and studies, and conferences of the Council, as well as portions of its administrative records.

This series documents George McGovern's activities as the director of the Food for Peace Program (1961-1962) and United States Senator (1962-1980). Of special interest are files documenting McGovern's activities as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Indian Affairs of the Senate Committe on Interior and Insular Affairs (1967-1972) and as Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs (1969-1970, 1973-1977) and its successor, the Subcommittee on Nutrition of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry (1978-1980). In addition, the series contains documentation pertaining to McGovern's activities as chairman of the Subcommittee on Agricultural Credit and Rural Electrification (1971-1976) and the Subcommittees on South Asian Affairs (1973-1974) and Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs (1975-1977). The series includes legislation and policy files, statements, schedules and invitations, travel files, patronage files, and constituent correspondence.

World Press Freedom Committee
The World Press Freedom Committee (1976-2009) was an organization dedicated to monitoring threats to press freedom, focusing on major intergovernmental organizations, especially UNESCO. The WPFC served as a watchdog against limitations on press freedom and provided practical assistance programs to journalists abroad, especially in developing countries, to enable them to establish and maintain a free press. The World Press Freedom Committee Records document the administration and activities of the WPFC for its entire period of operations and include project files, meeting minutes, correspondence, and publications.

Photographs, 1924-2019

Consists of photographic prints, contact sheets, and negatives, primarily in black-and-white, including shots taken in the WBAI studio in New York City, as well as promotional photographs and portraits gifted to Ruas by authors and artists with whom he worked. Most of the photographs taken in the WBAI studio are by Joan Schwartz, including images of various authors reading from Marguerite Young's Miss MacIntosh, My Darling, as well as a number of photographs of poets reading at a New Year's Eve poetry reading at St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery in 1975. In addition to containing photographs of many of the writers and artists reflected elsewhere throughout this collection, musicians and composers like Patti Smith, Lou Reed, and Phillip Glass are also represented in this group of photographs. Also of note is a group of portraits and photographs of performances by Babette Mangolte. While most photographic materials in the collection are described here, some, which were originally kept with manuscript materials and ephemera, are described with the general Author and Artist Files.

In addition, the series contains records of AAIA's fundraising activities, scholarship program, and materials AAIA designated as "historical documents." Also included are four boxes of photographs from various AAIA events spanning four decades, many of which originated from AAIA's Sisseton field office.

Series 19: Class of 1942, Class President's Files includes files on the members of the Class of 1942 which were created and maintained by the class president. It appears that these files were supplemented by the Bureau of Alumni Records with database printouts and other information. The records also include files on reunions, scholarships, executive committee meetings, class meetings, class newsletters and related topics.
