Subseries 11A: General, 1957-1971 consists of 15 files of a general nature relating to University buildings, grounds, and space, including maintenance, licenses, sanitation, and utilities. The series also contains a file about the reactivation of the Space Utilization Committee in summer 1957, (previously dormant as the Space Allocation Committee) which includes minutes for 1957-1958.

Subseries 11B: Architects, 1955-1971 contains correspondence with architects and architectural firms, filed by name, and include clippings and brochures. The individual files concern architects and firms who were hired for projects or consultations, and may contain photographs of buildings and plans. The list of architects includes Douglas Orr, who worked as a consulting architect for Princeton from 1955 until his death in 1966, as well as Minoru Yamasaki and I.M. Pei. Yamasaki designed the Robertson Building, which houses the Woodrow Wilson School, and Peyton Hall. Ieon Ming Pei was charged with a plan for development of the southwestern corner of the campus, primarily University Place, a plan that was never implemented. He ultimately designed Spelman Halls.

Subseries 11C: Buildings, 1957-1972 concerns buildings built, used or owned by the University. The series should be consulted together with Subseries 11D (Physical Plant–Expansion), which contains many files on the same buildings or complexes. As this series concerns new buildings and projects, the files in Series 11D usually precede or overlap with the ones in Series 11C and may have different titles (such as Jadwin Gymnasium and Fine Hall complex). Series 11C contains internal correspondence about construction, restoration, maintenance, and use, and includes information about budgeting and costs. Some files contain correspondence with donors, such as the file on Wilcox Hall. Other files may discuss possibilities of donors funding certain projects related to existing buildings. Large plans have been removed to the Physical Planning Office Architectural Drawings (AC #114).

Subseries 11D: Expansion, 1954-1970 contains files on the buildings constructed in the wake of the $53 Million Campaign that Goheen launched in the first years of his presidency, and additional fundraising efforts (see Subseries 6D, Finances–Fund Promotion). The series contains general files, some subdivided into specific subjects, followed by alphabetical files on individual buildings or complexes. The more important additions include the Art Museum and the Architecture Building (see under 'Architecture', 'Art and Architecture', and 'Art Museum'), the Computing Center, the Jadwin Gymnasium (found under 'Cage Auditorium'), Robertson Hall (see 'Woodrow Wilson School') and the Woolworth Center of Musical Studies (found under 'Music Building'). In addition, major constructions and complexes that were added to the campus were the Engineering Quadrangle and the complex of Fine, Jadwin, and Peyton Halls for the mathematical, physical, and astrophysical sciences, which can be found under 'Astrophysical Sciences' and 'Mathematics-Physics Complex,' and 'Physics.' Other files include the undergraduate and graduate dormitories and facilities. All in all, during Goheen's presidency some twenty-five new buildings were built on the main campus alone, with additional buildings on the Forrestal Campus and at the Graduate College.

The files contain internal correspondence and memoranda about the financing, planning, design and construction of the new buildings. Topics included are budgets, contracts, naming of buildings, and particular problems and concerns. In some cases the files contain extensive correspondence from a department head, such as in the case of the Music Building. In addition to internal correspondence, the files may include press releases, copies of plans, and correspondence with architects and occasionally donors. For more extensive correspondence with donors researchers are referred to Subseries 6B, Finances–Endowments and Gifts, Subseries 6D, Finances–Fund Promotion (see 'Special Projects'), and Subseries 18B, Donor (Gift) Files. Larger plans were added to the architectural drawings of the Physical Planning Office (AC 114).

Subseries 11E: Grounds, 1955-1972 concerns grounds and outdoor spaces that Princeton University either owned or in which it had a property-related interest. The majority of the files pertain to athletic facilities, parking lots, and roads and streets in and around Princeton. The files on the latter subject, which is subdivided by street name, are of particular interest. They concern issues such as safety and traffic and financial contributions of Princeton University and hence document its relationship with the Princeton Township and Borough, as well as West Windsor Township and Mercer County. In addition, the series contains files on landscaping, maintenance, Lake Carnegie, and the Gun Club at the Forrestal Campus, of which the sequence is found in Subseries 11C (Physical Plant–Buildings). The files consist of correspondence and memos, mainly concerning maintenance, costs, and administration. Larger plans have been removed.

Subseries 11F: Space, 1958-1972 contains files about the allocation of space and needs of various departments, arranged alphabetically by building or department.
