Abstract

John "Judge" Cobb Cooper (1887-1967) was a Princeton University graduate and a pioneer in the field of Aerospace Law. The collection is composed of correspondence and other materials pertaining to Cooper's activities as Curator of Class Records and as an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Graduate Council.

Description:

The collection is composed of correspondence and other materials pertaining to Cooper's activities as Curator of Class Records and as an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Graduate Council. In particular, the materials document the collection development efforts of the Friends of the Library Maps Committee; the proceedings of the Graduate Council's Executive Committee and the Committee on Departmental Advisory Councils; and Cooper's participation in university fundraising efforts and in the establishment of the Industrial Relations Section.

Cooper, John C. (John Cobb), 1887-1967

John "Judge" Cobb Cooper (1887-1967) was a Princeton University graduate and a pioneer in the field of Aerospace Law. A member of the Class of 1909, Cooper received high level appointments in the government and in the private sector during his career, including a vice president and directorship of Pan-American Airways. He was elected member of the Institute for Advanced Study in 1946, and received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Princeton in 1960. Cooper maintained close ties with Princeton University, serving as Curator of Class Records and as an active member of the Friends of the Library and the Graduate Council.
