Abstract
Consists primarily of letters and autograph copies of parts of manuscripts of 19th-century English and American poets and novelists collected by American art critic and Princeton professor, Frank Jewett Mather (1868-1953).

The collection consists primarily of letters and autograph copies of parts of manuscripts of 19th-century English and American poets and novelists collected by Mather. Included are the manuscript notes (undated) for a sermon in the hand of Cotton Mather and an opinion by Francis Scott Key regarding the articles of association for the Geo-Town Importing & Exporting Company. Other notables represented in the collection are Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Hardy, Washington Irving, Margaret Fuller Ossoli, and Edgar Allen Poe. There is also a box of Photostats of the material.
