Manufacturing and printing data for books published by the firm
The size and dates of printings and aspects of the physical book may be revealed in these records. For example, one learns that Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises was published on 22 October 1926; the price was $2 and the first printing totaled 5090 copies. This series is arranged into three subseries: Early Records, Manufacturing Records, Manufacturing Records, and Cost and Profit Analysis Sheets.
An indexed volume of production data for religious publications, showing name of printer and binder used, dates when completed books were returned, number of copies, and associated costs. Some royalty accounts, 1861-1864, are included at the back of the volume.
Not arranged according to any arrangement scheme.
Each box contains 2 large ledgers which list copyright and printing dates for each book, as well as information pertaining to the physical production of each book manufactured by Scribners within the designated time period. Each volume covers approximately five years, and is organized chronologically but offers an index searchable by the author's last name.
Arranged chronologically.
Organized alphabetically by the authors' last names, these records–on large index cards–present a fairly complete list of books manufactured by Scribners within this time period. The author name and book title appear on each card, along with dates of publication and subsequent printings. Records also list sheet stock and bound stock data.
Arranged alphabetically by author.
The sheets provide publication date, physical specifications of the book, a record of recent years' sales, information on stock, royalty, price, and estimates of profit.
Arranged by author, and then by title
