The collection consists of editorial files of the American publisher John Day Company, Inc., from its founding in 1926 until 1969. The bulk of the archives is comprised of correspondence between the publishing company's editors and authors, such asPearl Buck, but it also includes some business material relating to requests for permission to quote and foreign rights of authors, agents, and publishers.
