Collection Description & Creator Information

Description:

Consists primarily of American Revolution era documents and letters, including letters (1778-1780) to Moore Furman, deputy quartermaster general of New Jersey (1776-1792); a letter (1776) concerning the pardon of Richard Stockton; and several letters (1776) by William Livingston, governor of New Jersey. Also present in the collection are documents such as promissory notes issued by the State of New Jersey to army enlistees, land petitions, and general returns of stores and provisions issued to the army. In addition, there are notes and correspondence concerning the genealogies of the Barricklo, De Klyn, FitzRandolph, and Lalor families; as well as a small selection of miscellanea.

The following standard abbreviations, or their variations, are used to identify materials in this collection: ALS = autograph letter signed, TLS = typed letter signed, and ADS = autograph document signed.
