Articles Regarding National Archery Competitions, 1930-1949
Collection Description & Creator Information
The collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, scrapbooks, and printed matter of Elmer (Princeton Class of 1899). The collection contains manuscripts of two books, Archery (1939) and Arab Archery (1945)--the latter of which was translated from a 1500 A.D. manuscript by Nabih Amin Faris and edited by Elmer--and various articles about archery. The correspondence includes letters about the United Bowmen of Philadelphia, an archery club, as well as general correspondence with friends and associates relating to archery. In addition, there is a bound, typed manuscript of an "Account of the Annual Shooting for the Antient Shooting Arrow, Commonly called the Scorton Arrow from 1673-1906" sent to Elmer by Capet Pownall, a fellow archer in England.
