- Description:
The collection consists of a manuscript and correspondence of Hamilton (Princeton Class of 1906). The collection contains the typescript, notes, and proofs of his Early American Book Illustrators and Wood Engravers, 1670-1870 (1950), a catalog of the Sinclair Hamilton Collection of American Illustrated Books, illustrated, for the most part, with woodcuts and engravings, which is housed in the Princeton University Library. There is also correspondence with libraries, museums, bookshops, and dealers concerning the acquisition of books for his collection and its transfer to the library.
