Scope and Contents

The collection consists of Coulborn's typescripts of his University College (London) doctoral dissertation, "The Economical and Political Preliminaries of the Crusade of Harry Despenser, Bishop of Norwich in 1383," a book entitled The Origin of Civilized Societies (1959), articles, reports on conferences, notes, commentaries, and a bibliography, as well as several unfinished manuscripts. In addition, there is some correspondence with professional colleagues as well as letters to Coulborn regarding the publication of The Origin of Civilized Societies.
