Scope and Contents: Consists of correspondence, deeds, indentures, genealogical notes, and other documents of the McFarlane, Buchanan, and Haslett families who came to Somerset County, New Jersey, from England and Canada in the 19th century. Included are the marriage contracts (1834) of Henry McFarlane with Ann Buchanan; some of their correspondence; manuscripts, correspondence, and documents of their daughter, Kate E. McFarlane; and business papers relating to the flax-cotton industry of England and New Jersey and McFarlane's N.J. Flax Cotton Co.
