Description:

Consists primarily of correspondence by William Bell Scott to Cosmo Monkhouse, with one letter by Scott to art historian Mary Margaret Heaton, and four letters by painter Alice Boyd (Scott's life partner and mistress) to Monkhouse shortly after Scott's death. Furthermore, there are three manuscripts by Monkhouse (two transcriptions of Scott's poetry and an obituary draft), two manuscripts by an unknown hand (obituaries), and a printed announcement of Scott's death.

The following standard abbreviations, or their variations, are used to identify materials in this collection: ALS = autograph letter signed, and AMsS = autograph manuscript signed.
