The collection consists of a bound journal of Decker, containing biographical, genealogical, and historical information, accompanied by a partial transcript and additional Decker family notes. Much of the journal documents Decker's life in Ulster County, N.Y., particularly in Shawangunk.
- Collection Creator Biography:
Decker, Peter R
Decker was born in Shawangunk, N.Y., in 1776. He learned the trade of a tailor, but eventually started several singing schools, joined the Dutch Reformed Church, and became justice of the peace in 1805. The evidence of the journal suggests he died in 1843.
