- Description:
The collection consists of selected correspondence and documents (original and copies) by Goethe, and miscellaneous pamphlets and other printed material about him and his work. Original Goethe items include a six-line manuscript of a poem, a letter (1821) to his publisher, the last page of a signed, dictated letter (1816) to the German publisher Karl Friedrich Ernst Frommann, a handwritten list (1830), a four-line religious quotation, and an undated note.
