The collection consists of selected correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, a scrapbook, tear sheets, printed material, and family papers of Julian Street. Correspondents include Le Marquis d'Angerille (letter in French), Elizabeth Blackwell, Frank C. Dodd of Dodd, Mead & Company, George Eastman, Maud Howe Elliott, Elizabeth Frost, C. H. Hanover, Oliver Herford, C. D. Jackson, John Melville, Carl Moel, William Lyon Phelps, Mrs. Edward DeWitt, André Louis Simon, Henry Clapp Smith, Mrs. Frank J. (Harriet) Sprague, and Erwin Wallace. Correspondence of family and friends includes Julian Street's first wife, Ada Hilt Street; his second wife, Margot Street (with Kenneth Street, dated between 1959 and 1967), and Margaret Kennedy. Also included are letters from E. W. Durant, Henry Clapp Smith of Dutton, Inc., Harry Hansen of The World, and Isabel Paterson of The New Herald Tribune, regarding Owen Wister's book Roosevelt: The Story of a Friendship (1930). The manuscripts include the typescripts of Acts I, II, and III of Street's Rita Coventry (1922), a comedy in three acts. The scrapbook contains a photograph of Booth Tarkington with Julian Street, a typewritten list of characters, three letters from Tarkington to Street and one from Street to Tarkington, and several typescript pages of dialogue -- all referring to The Ohio Lady, a comedy by Booth Tarkington and Julian Street. Included in the collection is a photograph of Street, wearing a Native American feathered headdress, with Chief Iron Tail, an Oglala Sioux; the photograph was sent as a greeting card to Mr. and Mrs. Sprague and was taken while on tour with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in Italy in 1906. There are also photographs of the first Mrs. Julian Street, Ada Hilt Street.
