Description:

The collection consists of over 100 letters to Pym and his wife on literary, artistic, and social subjects --and with many references to Charles Dickens, his life and books -- including twenty letters (1882-1895) by F. C. Burnand, eight (1883-1889) by Mary ("Mamie") Dickens, and twenty-four (1883-1902) by Georgina Hogarth (and her photograph) Other writers, artists, and politicians include F. Anstey, Harry Furniss, William Ewart Gladstone, Andrew Lang, Sidney Lee, Frederick Lehmann, John Lubbock, John Murray, James Payn (with photograph and proof of his short story "The Guinea Box"), Princess Louise, George Richmond, Edward Linley Sambourne, and Leslie Stephen.
