- Description:
The collection contains 60 typed and holograph letters and postcards by Runciman, with corrected typescripts of two of his articles, addressed to Jeffrey Schaire, friend and editor of Arts and Antiques magazine. The articles deal with "The Painted Churches of Moldavia" (9 pp.) and "Byzantine Art and Western Taste" (17 pp.). Accompanying the letters are some photographs, including one of "Elshieshields" (1983), Runciman's home in Dumfriesshire, Scotland, and several of Schaire from his visits with Runciman.
