Collection Description & Creator Information
- Scope and Contents
The collection consists of selected correspondence and student account books of Lawrence Crane Woods. There are 12 letters (1916-1924) between Woods and Samuel Huston Thompson, Assistant Attorney General under President Woodrow Wilson; 24 letters (1914-1925) between Woods and Samuel J. Graham, an associate judge on the U.S. Court of Claims; and 25 letters (1914-1925) between Woods and John Burke, William C. Redfield, and Charles Thomas of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Some letters are of personal matters, while others are about politics and government, raising money for the U.S. army and World War I, and education reform; a large number of the letters mention President Woodrow Wilson and his health. Included are two daybooks (daily account books) kept by Woods while he was a student at Princeton University, one dated 1888, the other 1890. In addition, there are two letters of Lawrence C. Woods, Jr., to Mrs. Woodrow Wilson inviting her for the Centennial celebration of Woodrow Wilson, and her response to him.
