- Custodial History
This collection was a part of William E. Fredeman's large collection of books, artwork, and manuscripts related to the Pre-Raphaelites and their circle, which he developed from the 1950s through the 1990s. Fredeman acquired these papers, which were once housed at Penkill Castle, from descendants of the Alice Boyd family.
- Appraisal
All materials were retained with the collection, with the exception of a large metal strong box that originally housed the Scott family papers.

Single photocopies may be made for research purposes. No further photoduplication of copies of material in the collection can be made when Princeton University Library does not own the original. - Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements
For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure.
