Scope and Contents

Haynes' album consists of 48 albumen prints (approximately 6" x 8" inches) of various Yellowstone National Park sites, including the first winter photographs of Yellowstone, which Haynes took during a daring expedition in 1887. A few of the photographs include people, such as one entitled, "Our Sketch Artist," which depicts a heavily bundled photographer and artist Henry Bosse who accompanied Haynes on the expedition. The album also includes a series of photographs of scenes along the Columbia River in Oregon. The last photograph, presumably relating to Haynes' position as Northern Pacific Railway's official photographer, shows a train crossing the Bismarck Bridge over the Missouri River.

All of the photographs are captioned; many display the negative titles and numbers.
