Consists of over 25 "true copies" of sworn statements given by Native American residents of Fort Berthold, most taken on September 17th, 1878, by E. H. Alden, who was then Indian Agent at Fort Berthold. Most of the statements describe transactions between indigenous residents and Indian Agent C. W. Darling who served at Fort Berthold from 1875-1876. Statements are identified to Little Bull, Crow's Breast, Poor Wolf, Sharp Horn, Walking Bull, and others. William Courtenay is listed as a witness on most of the documents.
Arranged into two file groups: Fort Berthold Papers; and Personal and Family Papers.
No materials were removed from the collection during 2020 processing beyond routine appraisal practices.

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor.
