Arrangement

Original order was maintained. Folders that O'Connor maintained on his computer are followed by files extracted from floppy disks and optical media.

Collection History

Appraisal

Printed books were removed from the collection during 2022 processing and transferred to the Rare Book Division or the Library's General Collection; duplicates were discarded. Commercial audiovisual media were also removed and transferred to the Mendel Music Library. No other materials were removed from the collection during 2022 processing beyond routine appraisal practices.

Processing Information

Baseline processing of the paper-based portion of the collection was completed by Kelly Bolding in January 2022. Physical materials were roughly sorted by book project or genre/type and housed into archival folders and boxes, but no efforts were made to further arrange materials below this level. Finding aid written by Kelly Bolding in January-March 2022, incorporating some description provided by the dealer. Born-digital materials received as a file transfer were acquired directly from O'Connor by Kelly Bolding in October 2020 and processed by Amy Vo in September 2021. Born-digital materials received on physical media were processed by Kelly Bolding in January-March 2022; at this time, files could not be extracted from disk007 due to damage.

The collection is open for research, with the exception of diaries from 2012 and later, which are closed until ten years after the date of creation.

Single copies may be made for research purposes. To cite or publish quotations that fall within Fair Use, as defined under U. S. Copyright Law, no permission is required. For instances beyond Fair Use, it is the responsibility of the researcher to determine whether any permissions related to copyright, privacy, publicity, or any other rights are necessary for their intended use of the Library's materials, and to obtain all required permissions from any existing rights holders, if they have not already done so. Princeton University Library's Special Collections does not charge any permission or use fees for the publication of images of materials from our collections, nor does it require researchers to obtain its permission for said use. Physical Characteristics and Technical Requirements

For preservation reasons, original analog and digital media may not be read or played back in the reading room. Users may visually inspect physical media but may not remove it from its enclosure. All analog audiovisual media must be digitized to preservation-quality standards prior to use. Audiovisual digitization requests are processed by an approved third-party vendor. Please note, the transfer time required can be as little as several weeks to as long as several months and there may be financial costs associated with the process. Requests should be directed through the Ask Us Form.
