This collection consists of librarian Charles Haynes McMullen's data cards (numbering about 10,000) that McMullen compiled for his publication American Libraries before 1876 (2000). They are Unisort Analysis Cards, a 1960s system for data retrieval.

Collection History

Custodial History:

Received from Kenneth Carpenter (Kress Collection, Baker Library, Harvard University) in 2004, who received the cards from McMullen, circa 2000.

Archival Appraisal Information:

No materials were removed from the collection during 2021 processing beyond routine appraisal practices.

The collection is open for research.

Single copies may be made for research purposes. No further duplication of copies of material in the collection can be made when Princeton University Library does not own the original.
