Abstract
Consists primarily of a few writings and field notes of American geologist Harry Hammond Hess (1906-1969).

The collection includes a few materials related to American geologist Harry Hammond Hess (1906-1969), including a brief autobiographical sketch; field notes from an expedition to the Caribbean in early 1932 relating to the U.S. Navy-Princeton Gravity Experiment, 1932) and other miscellaneous notes; a typescript on sea-floor spreading and one on ocean basins; and a manuscript copy of Hess's Brooks Fellowship report, "A Geological Excursion in the USSR" (1937). A few letters are scattered throughout.
A couple of items in the collection were not created by or may not relate to Hess.
