Description:

The collection comprises (440) black-and-white photographs of the international acclaimed and pioneer Greek architect, Iōannēs Despotopoulos. Photographs are part of six photograph albums, attached on both sides of the leaves, one to eight a page, captioned in Greek on the negative or the mat board measuring from 1.5 x 3.5 cm to 13 x 18.2 cm. String bound albums. There are also a few loose photographs. They depict portrait photography of Despotopoulos or group photographs with his family members, friends and colleagues in several places in Greece such as Athens, Chios, Mytilēnē, Mega Spēlaion, Chalkis, and Chaerōnea; Constantinople and Prince island in Turkey; Berlin, Leipzig, and Munich in Germany; buildings in Romania; street scenes in Bulgaria; and Paris.
